What happened to this show was so bizarre! It lasted for only 59 performances but was by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein! It had some incredible stars, but just didn't make the cut. Fortunately, this song survived. Thank you for your notice. As always, praise from you is always more than welcome!
@@Marcel_Audubon It is lovely, really. Very lovely. So, you like Broadway music, don't you? I haven't watched Sweeney Todd yet (wasn't interested), however, I would definitely watch it if I have a chance.
I like the slower version that ended up in the Broadway's Fabulous Phantoms album (probably my favorite song from that selection), but it was great getting to see a video of him doing it here!
HI! I posted this one, and you're right on all three observations. As for his stupid hair, it was supposed to look like that: it was the 80s! Mullet hair-styles were all the rage! Anyway, happy to hear from you! varadero
Songs like this have without any doubt have made the American Musical Theater the envy of the entire world. One can hear it 100 times in a row, and they sound as beautiful as they did in the first time. This is what true love is about. What can one say to praise enough Howard McGillin?
Lynnette Packer Hi! Just went to music notes.com. I then typed in Broadway, the song name and there was one for $5.79. You may have to join, but I’ll leave that to you! Best wishes.....varadero.
***** Hi Dawna R. Hill! I've always liked his stage presence and voice, but learned today that he holds the record for the longest running Phantom of The Opera on Broadway with 2,544 performances! He's done it all, and so much more. Thanks for your comment!

I love his voice in the Swan Princess :)
Doesn't get much better than this.
A romantic dream come true: the singer and the song.
Thanks for writing! Mr. McGillin is amazing, even back then! Best to you!

GORGEOUS MAN. Saw him in Edwin Drood. MY IDEAL MAN!
Sure, HON! 😘

They don't compose songs like this anymore. 😔
Beautiful technique, great singer
Great singer, handsome man.
He makes a mullet look good!
Glorious!
He sang Johanna from Sweeney Todd that same night ... I remember watching this the night it aired, it was the first time I had ever heard Johanna.
Is it good?
@@ernestinadosanjostati3634 I see someone posted it here, you can search Johanna Howard McGillan and judge for yourself !

Is it me or does he look like a hybrid of Jeremy Irons and Daniel Day Lewis?
Singing voice sounds a LOT like DDL’s, as well.
@@flannerymonaghan-morris4825 I always thought Daniel day wasn’t that well trained? You mean his voice from “Nine”?
Yeah, even though it isn’t well trained, he still has a surprisingly good singing voice. There are other videos of him singing, too.
@@flannerymonaghan-morris4825 oh I’m gonna check it out! Howard and DDL are both so talented
What a beautiful voice, what a handsome man, what stupid hair

I remember him at Dos Pueblos high school. Good looking and handsome and clearly talented then, but not nearly as polished.
