Thank you very much for the positive words. Tyler's guitar was already finished about 3.5 years ago and it was supposed to be used to support the campaign. It was more important to solve, despite the huge problem that arose, how to make and deliver their guitar to all the people who ordered it. Actually, there are still a few people left, but we have everything sorted out and we are nearing the end. Therefore, the guitar could already be sent to Tyler. Once again, thank you very much, Ondřej.
You're absolutely welcome. Nowadays it's rarer to see people hold to good morals and do right by others. Seeing your apology to him was very heartwarming! That F# tuning is considered "standard" for an 8-string (being called F# standard), and you can also drop-tune the low 8th string (drop E). I believe Meshuggah only uses F standard (1/2 step down on all 8 strings) and drop Eb (F standard drop-tuned).

I want to get an 8 string so I can tune it up. Most people want to get as low as possible, but I think the massive amount of strings and the naturally longer scale would be cool and fun to tune up because you can get higher than normal notes, while keeping a low range. I'd love to see someone tune up an 8 string too! Imagine putting 6s or 7s on and tuning to F or even F# standard. I want it!! That's a cool guitar! I personally feel like anything beyond 7-strings I feel like I should be playing a Stick. Maybe that just my personal limitations as a musician, so I don't shame anyone for playing them. dont know if this still counts but the band VOLA uses a 7 string tuned down to F# and they make the most beautiful music. The kind that makes you wanna lie down up on a tree branch at 2am to listen to
Finally some music made with an 8 string that isn't Prog or Djent. I mean Djent is great but I wish people would use these guitars in other styles. Apart from than Batushka, Deftones and Justin Broadrick it's not that common. Also if you want to play with tunings, you can also go to drop E or open tunings like E B E G# B G# B E
Can you do a video on using 7 and or 8 string guitars? A lot of people who do “tutorials” just down tune the last string which in my opinion kinda loses the purpose of having the extra string. If not on RUclips could you put it on guitar super system lol
As soon as you started the demo song, before the leads came in, I instantly thought it sounded like something cliff Burton would have wrote master of puppets era
I am currently writing an album on my 8 string with a tuning of EAEADGBE so it is standard tuning with the two lower strings in EA again allowing me to copy a riff from one EA to the next. The 7th string mixed with the 6th string allows me to play power chords like a drop A tuning too

I just got a new 7 string and I played a couple of my own songs on it. I had written the songs on a 6 string but it's almost as if they were destined to be played on a 7 string because they actually worked better.

I would enjoy it if more 8-string players approached the instrument in this way. As for bands, I recommend the band Animals as Leaders, who also are known to have invented some of the now well known 8-string techniques.
"Invented" is a stretch depending on which techniques you're referring to, but yes. They are certainly innovative
@@troysmithfr , it's not, but I guess you like to argue over the minutiae.
@@SamBrockmann I mean if you talk about like, thumping, Tosin will tell you that he took it from bass players. Just a fact, bro. Not here to get heated, just saying as it is. I agree with everything else you said though.
@@troysmithfr , and yet, there have been probably tens of thousands of guitar players who never went, "WHAT I IF THUMP LIKE A BASS PLAYER?!"
This is what I meant about how you're getting caught up in the minutiae.
@@SamBrockmann Well, there will always be someone who borrows and inspires to much a greater extent. But like I said before, I agree that it is a win.
Straight up, finally got myself an 8 string off a pawn shop last week
The man plays an 8 string for the first time and already he's a genius at it. Wow...
well, yea, it’s a regular guitar played the same way as all of the others lol
Totally BADASS man! I might have to get one myself.
3:32 and it was at this moment, that I knew I needed headphones for this
Based on the incredible piece of music you wrote with this thing, I’d say you were using it right… whether or not it was how it was MEANT to be used. Nice guitar, and good job!
That's a cool guitar! I personally feel like anything beyond 7-strings I feel like I should be playing a Stick. Maybe that just my personal limitations as a musician, so I don't shame anyone for playing them.
But if you want more of a bass-like sound, dropping the bottom string to E (a la Tosin Abasai) will get you there.
dont know if this still counts but the band VOLA uses a 7 string tuned down to F# and they make the most beautiful music. The kind that makes you wanna lie down up on a tree branch at 2am to listen to
some other tunings are F standard (all half-step down), drop E/Eb and also double drop B with the F# tuned down to a lower B
Nice composition to showcase it! Haha I also thought those jagged “8 hits” were clever 🤘🏻
I got my 8 string(Schecter Diamond series) because I didn't have one. A whole lotta fun to play.
Really enjoyed this, great work!
That song is banging!! wow awesome tone.
I am currently writing an album on my 8 string with a tuning of EAEADGBE so it is standard tuning with the two lower strings in EA again allowing me to copy a riff from one EA to the next. The 7th string mixed with the 6th string allows me to play power chords like a drop A tuning too
If you wanted an easy tuning, drop the F# down to E and have fun. My favorite 8 string tuning is either E or D#
I’ve been intrigued by the 8 string guitar ever since watching Jose Macario’s “Taco Groove” over 10 years ago…
Of course he has taken it much much further, but personally I haven’t pulled the trigger yet on a Strandberg Boden 8 as of yet 🌟
I just got a new 7 string and I played a couple of my own songs on it. I had written the songs on a 6 string but it's almost as if they were destined to be played on a 7 string because they actually worked better.
GREAT song, Tyler!
Beautiful build and sounds great…. Surprised how much this intrigues me , don’t play 7 strings etc but this had great tone and I think a great rustic look with the screws going around the pit guard I like the wood I like the name on the head stock and Tyler pulled lightning in a bottle right out of his ass on this guitar! U always crush it man
I feel like this is the way an 8 string was supposed to be played. Good stuff
For small 8 string guitar bands, I can recommend the Copenhagen based boys from Cold Night For Alligators, they are so much more than the typical djent
8-string guitar is awesome and addictive to play!!
Now I want an 8 string. I love the maple board
