The first Dangerous Hunts game actually used to scare me when I played it as a kid, but it still holds a special place in my heart. I still have it and it still runs on my PS2 to this day. I basically started my channel on these hunting games 'cause there are people out there like myself that enjoy these nostalgic memories from our childhood.
@@BrokeHistory I also wanna say that I'd literally probably be one of those people who would walk into a Cabela's or a Bass Pro Shops just to look at the things they sell and leave. I've actually been to a Bass Pro Shops once. It was during a vacation in Virginia, I believe. I think I got a fishing lure fridge magnet.
@@over-handshuffle8155 yea either you leave empty handed, with something like a fridge magnet or with a pocketknife. i recall just hanging around their stores a lot of the time. In our local Bass Pro they had this old school sailboat in the center where you can take photos and go inside and sit down. What a concept.
2011 is my personal favorite, I feel like they should remake it Remake, not remaster (though id be fine with that too if they added viewmodels or ported it to VR)
1. Im glad theres SOMEONE on youtube who actually talks about these games, let alone the 1st dangerous hunts. 2. Your videos are so well made im in awe that your channel is so small. Good luck with this channel, and i'd love to see an actual quality review of the first 3 dangerous hunts games, because no one else gives those games enough recognition.
These games were my childhood! I loved playing these. I liked how by DH 2011 and 2013 had that call of duty vibe (especially with 2011 also having a horror like vibe). DH 2009 was also really good with just going to different locations. I wish they still made games like this still. Glad someone is still talking about these👍😁
I never played the 2000’s versions of Cabelas games, now that I’m older and looking at footage, I would argue that the 2010’s ones were waaayyy better than the 2000’s ones. I always thought that 2009 was a darker year, with the dark stuff coming out, and I didn’t like the games much cause of their lower graphics. Besides I was too young back then so I have no memory of the 2000’s But Yeah, I was 6 years old in 2013, and around that time, my dad got me Dangerous Hunts 2011, and 2013, as well as a game called Cabelas African Adventures. I really loved those games better cause they had more story and way better graphics and I like the fighting techniques. I like to think that these games are basically about everyday problems that you would occur while hunting in the wilderness or getting stranded with the dangerous creatures that inhabit the area. But overall these are the games of my childhood, my fav being 2011, 2012, 2013, and the Pro Hunts that came out back in 14. The 2010’s were cool
I grew up as a kid playing these games. I got hooked on Big Game Hunter 2010 in 2009 and then moved on to the Dangerous Hunts games, with Dangerous Hunts 2009 being my ironic favorite game of all time with how broken it is and how great the music is. I would love to see these games return, but I doubt they’d be as fun as the OGs. Even if these were barely hunting games, I loved them regardless. RIP Cabela’s hunting games.
these games randomly pop in my head from time to time, but i can hardly find good content on it. this video was great! these games actually scared me so bad when i played them back in the day. i especially remember the alaska one and just something about the music and everything scared me for some odd reason.
One of a kind treasure, there's one RUclipsr who played the dangerous hunts games but not the first one though search up: Kootra "cabelas dangerous hunts" he has a Playlist dedicated to the cabelas games not all of them but mostly dangerous hunts 2009, 2010 and 2011
Great video! I remember seeing Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2009 in the used games section of my local Gamestop a few years ago. Legitimately laughed out loud after seeing the front and back cover. It's nice to know that i'm not the only one who knows of these game's existence haha.
I had an interesting experience with this series growing up, I owned both the first game on PS2 and 2013 on Wii. Only now watching this video have I learned the only 2 games I had from the series were it's start and it's end. I was so young playing the PS2 game navigating the menus alone felt like an adventure and I had no idea what I was doing. I'd just run around the map and kill anything that moved, honestly all my memories of the game feel like a fever dream now. I played the 2013 game a ton on wii and have fond memories of it, but I swear you needed a PhD in quantum mechanics just to figure out how to put the Wii remote into that goddamn gun, and my arms would get so sore if I played it for to long. All that being said, great video! it was a fun trip down memory lane
yes, these games did not receive the best reviews. They did not have as large a player base as modern games, but I know that they gave us a wonderful childhood. I will never forget that I encountered a bear for the first time in Cabelas Dangerous Hunts, escaped from an elephant in 2009, advanced through a mountain pass full of wolves and pumas in 2011, fought with giant baboons, black lions and rhinos in 2013, and had a simulation hunting experience with advanced graphics in 2014. That's why we won't abandon these games. I thank cabelas for all of this.
Gotta be my very first “horror” game I’ve actually BEAT (next to resident evil) the reason they scared me more was due to that it’s more realistic (obviously) and hearing a growl or roar from A good ways away ALWAYS scared the piss out of me 😭
Lol even though i grew up playing Cabela's games as loved hunting games and Cabela's and deer hunter were the only titles at that time 2000-2010 the hunter classic on 2008 changed everything.
Just a little fun fact Broke History, but the original 2003 Dangerous Hunts was going to be more expansive. It was going to have African Bush Elephant, African Lion, Javelina, Lynx, Bobcat, American Bison, Blue Wildebeest, Thomson's Gazelle, Warthog, Baboon, Hippo, Nile Crocodile, Musk Ox, Stone Sheep, Jackal, and Wild Turkey as extra animals. There was going to be a few more maps too with 2 more African Maps and Three more American maps but sadly none of these ever made the final version due to time constraints. What could have been, the thought of being attacked by a turkey is hilarious.
Did you know after Hank Hill was done with king of the hill he started a RUclips channel with the help from Bobby Hill to whose voice you can hear now 🤞 lol
The first one is actually had a great formula. Sandbox hunting simulator. It was really good because it felt challenging yet fun. While admittedly the maps did wear thin if you over played them. The variation on where animals were, what you were hunting, and what you brought to hunt is what made it enjoyable. It didn't need a story. Which is why it was so weird that they fell into this series of destroy every ecosystem of wildlife kill it all before it kills you! Like they really shoulld have stuck with the formula for the first game. Hell Alaskan Adventures was fun for this very reason. So yeah first Dangerous Hunt and Alaskan Adventures we're the best imo.
Jurassic the Hunted was basically that, it had the same dev team as Big Game Hunter 2010/12 and Dangerous Hunts 2011/13 as well as sharing numerous assets
I remember owning "dangerous hunts 2009", but never actually playing it because the lion in the first mission was too scary for me 🥴 Although seeing its main menus brought me feelings I didn't know I had :>
Dangerous Hunts 2 was personally the best. Good storyline, more various dangerous animals, nice power ups and fun action! Dangerous Hunts to me was rather like a survival horror game but with wild animals (Kinda like the 2015-17 series ZOO) I hope they do make a Dangerous Hunts game in the future but with a Mature rated version with better graphics! (I mean hey if we can shoot animals, zombies and other creatures on games like RDR2 and Call of Duty then why not?? With all the money, graphics and storylines getting better these days, it would be great for video game loving hunter!!
Dangerous hunts 2009 had my favorite animals but had the worst gameplay mechanics (the timer). I loved the story missions and the level designs but I hated how I had to rush through. I prefer the simulators now: The Hunter Classic, Hunter Call of the Wild, TheHunter. These three come to mind since they have the animals as well as the species I hold so dear. I really wish more simulator games had species such as Hyena, Gaur or Indian Water Buffalo, Waterbuck, and so on. Stuff that isn’t represented much in slow paced simulated hunting games and is usually bypassed for more common and known animals.
Use to spend hours playing the 2003 game (pc), found the old cd and decided to try and replay it. Yeah my new computer fought me on that one, managed to get it to play, but the graphics were all sorts of fucked up. Haha, good memories, love those hunting games.
I replayed Dangerous Hunts 2011 like yesterday and to be honest I have to say It's still a great game, sure it has some weird moments but it's a genuinely enjoyable game to me, still as fun to me now as it was to me in like 2010 when I was only 4 years old, a short and sweet package that is the perfect length (I used to have the top shot elite but sadly it was sold at some garage sale) Dangerous hunts 2013 was aight, at least it had viewmodels on the xbox 360 version but to me the story wasnt as interesting and the gameplay wasnt as fun as 2011
I was 7 when dangerous hunts 2011 came out and it was super scary as a kid and would give me nightmares😂, so then I would end up playing big game hunter or cabelas outdoor adventures 2010
I played the first game alot then I think after two I fell off the series but dang it feels like the first game is so much older than 2003 I did wanna play African adventures but never got around to it
I really wonder why you stopped uploading. As I can see this is the only game you actually ,,reviewed" and yet it's such a well made video. Humor is on point and editing is really really good. I hope You come back one day reviewing some other titles. 🙂
they should bring the hunting game into the modern era. make it open world and you start in some small town out in the bush and you buy your guns at the shop and get quests from the townspeople. 😂 my buddy and i picked up 2009 to play one weekend and we were pissed it was a quick time event action game and not an actual hunting game like previous entries.
As a kid I would play dangerous hunts 2011 untill the avalanche part and then restart because I was too scared to continue the day I went past that mission was the day I became a man

Zoobooks was propaganda used to prime the youth of America to play Cabela's Dangerous Hunts. Change my mind.
The most impressive and haunting marketing ploy in history and it was right under our children's noses.
