first video game ever played .my first consol was the sega master system 2 .these are the first three games i owned back then . Alex , wonderboy , and after burner
This is the FIRST video game i ever owned. I got it when it first got released and for many yrs i was IN LOVE! Brillent game at its time! 40 levels in all!
I have also played some of these plays. Above all, the Sonicplays and Wonder boy. In my lists of 10 best ones would be still present on Soleil. But all great one plays you there has selected!
My best friends had a Sega Master System growing up and I had a NES. I always claimed dominance with my console because of Super Mario and Contra and Castlevania, and so on. But the day they brought home WONDER BOY from Toys R Us was the day I was green with envy!! I ended up getting Hudson's Adventure Island but it's only a shadow of the game that is WB. I now own a SMS and Wonder Boy and cherrish it every day!!
For 2 days I've been re-living my pre-teen Atari/Nintendo/Genesis years. So many recovered memories! I used to love this game but would NEVER have remembered the name or thought about it for the rest of my life were it not for the internet. MERCI RUclips & ainsi que les gens qui y contribuent !
I had this game as a kid by now I still know it by heart. I have gotten all the fruit and dolls and milk and all that before but sometimes to do that without missing any you have to pass up the skateboard.
This guys is a pro at his game. Im telling you you dont know how hard it was to beat this game on the skate board. Games back then were much harder than today IMO
I used to play this at the arcade. I spent enough money there that I could have bought a Sega system. I loved this game and Golden Axe. Fond memories....
No! That's why I'm here. I played this game in Italy years ago (over 20) and I have always loved it and wish I could get it again. I love the music too. :-) xx
i still have the cartidge for mastersystem god i loved this game when i was a kid around 6 to 10 years old im now 21. infact i still have all my mastersystem games. wish i had the system still.
You have some amazing control with this game! I can barely get over the falling rocks without dying! And I'm pretty sure Adventure Island on NES came out AFTER this game. Not 100% sure though
When I was a kid my friends across the street had a Sega Master System and this game! I loved it so much...especially because of the music! I had a NES and I was so excited when I saw Adventure Island was coming out (in Nintendo Power). It looked just like Wonderboy! But when I bought Adventure Island I was disappointed that they changed the music! Wonderboy music is superior!!
@nooblet911 : Yes, I must agree. AI has a feel all it's own. Hudson gave this series its love. And it can be seen in all the sequels. WB also took it's own path in the later entries of the series. Westone did a great job too!
At last! I needed confirmation on the name of this game for at least 15 years, and now I have got it. :) I only played this game at a friends house a couple of times and liked it. So now I only have to find emulator and roms.
Westone (the developer) owned the rights to the game itself while Sega owned the copyrights for the names and characters, so Westone were allowed to license it out to Hudson for a NES port as long as the names and graphics were changed.
Don't be so sure. I edited out the loading / level screens out of the video to fit under the youtube time limit. There's also a couple of levels missing because they were edited out for the time limit.
This was made by the same developer long before adventure island, around the release of the SMS, around the same time as the NES. Adventure Island came out a year or 2 later. Hudson Soft developed games for both systems.
I was so young seeing this in the arcade. I hope I put my last quarter in, and that I didn't stand there impatiently trying to fight the timer and instaed end up pissing my pants some. God I loved the music. hahahahaha
@cradleofdeath123 Adventure Island was a licenced port of Wonder Boy. Hudson simply changed the Tom-Tom sprites to Master Takahashi (Master Higgins outside Asia), soundtrack and the game's title to Master Takahashi's Adventure Island (Hudson's Adventure Island outside Asia).
That is def one of the harder ones too. There was an extreemly hard ice level and a extreemly hard green fense/green popsicle level that barely gave u enough produce to eat to regain ur life.
@HuskyTdC No, Sega allowed Hudson to use the code from the original arcade game to develop Adventure Island, which actually is the NES port of this game. Why not have one of your non-core games appear on the compeditor's more sucessful machine? They also tried it less sucessfully with Shinobi, which they got Atari to release unofficially for the NES. By that time Nintendo hated atari and was fully aware of Sega trying to release their titles on the NES through other channels too.
The host used a code to skip levels, many which are not on here. (To do the code: a,a,b,b, a+b+hold them down while using the cursor to select the desired level, this can be done at any point of the level when it first loads showing the boy and girl).
I played this when i was 5-6 years old, i had a really old computer that i had ALOT of games in....i only came to level two ^^ im 13 now so it was a while ago, memories :')
im 32 and i use to had sega 8bit, i played this wonder boy and graphics where great music the sound alsome something you think about the past know theres ps3 wii xbox360 psp vita Nintendo DS
9:34 was the the 3rd hardest level, next to the last ice world in the game (2nd), and the hardest (not shown) where after u walk through the woods u get bombarded by bolders falling from a rainbow sky.
just got this on emulator, with sonic, alex kidd, outrun, choplifter and it brings back some good memories... i used to be quite good at this game, but i cant get passed more than a few levels now, it seems to have got alot harder, or my age is catchin up with me, lol......
I own the cartridge. It is the same, yet better than Adventure Island(NES) in every way possible. It is probably the earliest Near-perfect Arcade translations I can remember.
This music gave me chills reminding me of how awesome i thought this game was back in the day! So many hours.... and no SAVE OPTION!!! HAD to leave the system on over night, dad shut it off once, we FREAKED
@ozpc123 Well Adventure Island is exactly like Wonder Boy, and the guys girlfriend always gets stolen, but you see it in Super Adventure Island for the SNES. That's what tipped me off that it could be one of those.
This was one of my favorite games ever! I wanted to embed this in my brother's myspace - why do you have the embedding disabled? He would love to see this...
if someone had told me when i was a kid that in the future there would be the interwebz and youtube so you can watch all to old game you played for pure nostalgic value i would of played more game's just for this reason so many game's on here iv never seen, not this one obviously..
Oh man I remember fucking using hours getting through this game. A hell of alotta levels for being the master system, you could in no way do it one sitting, so you would need to pause that shit and leave it running and then eventually come back to it. Classic game though :-D
@UsernameRaciel not exactly.... they are both made by the same company, it's just hudson called it adventure island and changed a few things (sprites, names) to avoid NES "if you release a 8 bit game on our system, it should ONLY be one OUR SYSTEM" contract (sega had already released this game in the arcades so they had to contractually give them a cart version- adventure island was just to cash in on the more popular NES) Wonderboy was in the arcades first
Press and hold the button you use for throwing axes and then press the jump button. Holding the axe throwing button will also make Tom-Tom or whatever his name is run faster.
I never was able to beat this one. I think we rented it from the local video game ship or borrowed it from a mate...Funnily enough, playing video games is not something you get better at as you get older so I've got me work cut out ; )
HOLY HELL THIS BRINGS BACK SUCH SERIOUS NOSTALGIA LOL
god I played this for hours when I was like 6.
I STILL play this today ;-)
One of the best games on the SMS IMO.
TALBOT ITS BEEN A REAL PLEASURE WATHING THIS!! WELL DONE FANTASTIC UPLOAD!" MEMORIES OF 1988..!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!

This game was one of the best ones from my childhood. I even love the repetitive music and still find myself humming it from time to time.
first video game ever played .my first consol was the sega master system 2 .these are the first three games i owned back then . Alex , wonderboy , and after burner
This is the FIRST video game i ever owned. I got it when it first got released and for many yrs i was IN LOVE!

MERCI RUclips & ainsi que les gens qui y contribuent !
I remember when I was young! my brother got the master system! I was so excited! I've played this game over and over!
I played nothing but this from Christmas 1988 throughout 1989.
I had this game as a kid by now I still know it by heart. I have gotten all the fruit and dolls and milk and all that before but sometimes to do that without missing any you have to pass up the skateboard.
Am I the only one who comes to this video for a nostalgia fix? The music will forever be in my head.
This guys is a pro at his game. Im telling you you dont know how hard it was to beat this game on the skate board. Games back then were much harder than today IMO
Those boss battle freaked me out as a kid.
It was just the music and the way they slowly walk towards you.
I used to play this at the arcade. I spent enough money there that I could have bought a Sega system. I loved this game and Golden Axe. Fond memories....
this brings back such good memories of me sitting in an arcade spending my weekly allowance in an hour on this thing R.I.P wonderboy
The music that starts at the first level... magic awesome.
By far my favorite game of all time for the Master System and part 2 was my second favorite!
No! That's why I'm here. I played this game in Italy years ago (over 20) and I have always loved it and wish I could get it again. I love the music too. :-) xx
This game defined my earlier childhood memories of gaming!
i still have the cartidge for mastersystem god i loved this game when i was a kid around 6 to 10 years old im now 21. infact i still have all my mastersystem games. wish i had the system still.
Used to play this in the Youth Center on Ramstein Ari Force Base as a kid.

LOL I REMEMBER THIS :) so cool when you find old stuff like this. sweet sweet memories!-
You have some amazing control with this game! I can barely get over the falling rocks without dying!
And I'm pretty sure Adventure Island on NES came out AFTER this game. Not 100% sure though
J'adore ce jeu ! Je l'ai encore d'aileurs et ma Master System fonctionne encore ! C'était le bon temps...
damn this was one of my favs.... my childhood is flashing before my eyes...
When I was a kid my friends across the street had a Sega Master System and this game! I loved it so much...especially because of the music! Wow, this is a damn good arcade port, also a lot faster than the NES version called Adventure Island. The music sounds exactly like the arcade too.
At last! I needed confirmation on the name of this game for at least 15 years, and now I have got it. :) I only played this game at a friends house a couple of times and liked it. So now I only have to find emulator and roms.
Dam your very good at this you make it look easy its accually a pretty hard gane
thank you! it reminds of good memories of childhood.
There's also a couple of levels missing because they were edited out for the time limit.
the game was an adaptation of the arcade game Wonder Boy, which was ported to Sega home gaming systems under its original name - from wikipedia
God I loved the music. hahahahaha
hours of my life were involved in this game. good times
@cradleofdeath123 Adventure Island was a licenced port of Wonder Boy. Hudson simply changed the Tom-Tom sprites to Master Takahashi (Master Higgins outside Asia), soundtrack and the game's title to Master Takahashi's Adventure Island (Hudson's Adventure Island outside Asia).

man i loved this game as a kid!
I remember I'd played it on Sega Game Gear, a great video game age
@HuskyTdC
No, Sega allowed Hudson to use the code from the original arcade game to develop Adventure Island, which actually is the NES port of this game. Why not have one of your non-core games appear on the compeditor's more sucessful machine?

This game is coming on the VC Wii next Monday along with Cruis 'N Usa (N64).
Sega Master System will be added in the Wii Shop Channel.
And on top of that, it's the older games like these that were the hardest. There was no "sprint" button to help you jump from cloud to cloud haha!
The host used a code to skip levels, many which are not on here.
(To do the code: a,a,b,b, a+b+hold them down while using the cursor to select the desired level, this can be done at any point of the level when it first loads showing the boy and girl).
I played this game for the first time on holiday... Menorca 1988.

I love de music haha remind me a lot of souvenir...
This is so much better than adventure island...exept for the music
@BboyFiZiX this came first actually. it was a time when cross-platform releases were almost impossible due to Nintendo's hold on things.
Major nostalgia.
@ozpc123 Well Adventure Island is exactly like Wonder Boy, and the guys girlfriend always gets stolen, but you see it in Super Adventure Island for the SNES. That's what tipped me off that it could be one of those.
omg..this was the bomb diggoty back in the day!! LMAO and pit pot.. where is that lil guy
This was one of my favorite games ever! I wanted to embed this in my brother's myspace - why do you have the embedding disabled? He would love to see this...

Whoa some of that took some real precision!
Does anyone know where I could download some midis from this game?
Embedding was off by mistake. All my vids should be embeddable now.
i remember beating this game how many levels were in it?
@BboyFiZiX The music in this game is probably meant to hypnotize kids and force agony and nightmares upon them.
You playit very well.
wonderful game back in tha day
Oh man I remember fucking using hours getting through this game. A hell of alotta levels for being the master system, you could in no way do it one sitting, so you would need to pause that shit and leave it running and then eventually come back to it. Classic game though :-D

This game ROCKED! THe Master System soooooo had better visual capabilities than the NES!
So many GREAT memories! I know exactly what you mean~
Press and hold the button you use for throwing axes and then press the jump button. Holding the axe throwing button will also make Tom-Tom or whatever his name is run faster.
great game :) THX
I never was able to beat this one. I think we rented it from the local video game ship or borrowed it from a mate...Funnily enough, playing video games is not something you get better at as you get older so I've got me work cut out ; )
One of my favourite games!!! LOL
Yeah, I've got a copy of it. But haven't played it for about 15 years. It just sits in my cupboard.
this game is great!!
