Even in the days of DDR Extreme, I think you could still get a AAA with like 1 or 2 greats. Maybe that’s the home version. Get where you’re coming from though.

Because the rating is based on score, not based on the amount of Marvelous/Perfects. If you get one Great you have to get several Marvelous and Perfects to make up for the loss of score, which he did. However if you get a stream of Greats instead, the amount of Perfects and Marvelous steps aren't going to catch up to the score lost therefore you start lowering your rating to AA or A. This is pretty old information to be honest lol..
Even if you didn't get only perfect/marvelous, just for getting a full 670 combo on challenge, I'm going to grade you AAA. That was legendary footwork.
FutileExistence No, but it is still very challenging, and most videos I've seen of people acing this have been with bar support. Opting out of the bar for a chart like this ramps up the difficulty significantly.

back when everyone actually played 13 years ago you needed a perfect score to achieve AAA. the letter grade system changed as the games got newer
