Canada only has a trade deficit because of the resources we ship to America, not because of finished products. Take oil and minerals out, and suddenly the trade deficit is gone.
America sells more services to Canada, we have a 70 billion/yr trade deficit with America in the service sector.
Trump, get better advisors. If you spend 20 years rebuilding your refineries, you can stop buying Canadian oil.. but you'd lose trillions in profit because WCS is dirt cheap and the refined products sell so well.

In a recent poll about 10% of Canadians said they'd welcome becoming the 51st state. That the number is even that high is a disgrace. I imagine you take the albertans polled out you'd get about 2%.
Most of these 10% have to be recent immigrants whose 2nd choice was Canada, and 1st America. They're in for a rude awakening if they get what they want and inevitably switch from getting generous welfare to surviving on food stamps.
I’m Canadian and I’m all for it . I think it’s a real simple solution to stop the division in the two countries . All republicans / conservatives are in one country . All liberals and democrats in another
