    Bought a pair of Air Jordans ~20 years ago for $100 and change. As a teen then, I worked hard and saved for months to get it. It was super comfortable and did not need breaking in, but it went flat in less than 8 months. Thought it was a damn gimmick then and never bought another pair since.

    • @BukesWorld
      @BukesWorld  2 года назад +5

      Glad I was able to save your 720's. As for the curing time, the outer portion should cure around the hole in about 24 hrs. I don't think the rest will ever cure as it never makes contact with air. We literally just transfer the uncured silicone from one sealed container to another sealed container. Personally, I don't care if it never cures. It feels great walking in my nikes again.

      Thank you for the wonderful compliment and glad i was able to help. No super glue is needed. The silicone will dry at the hole within some hours. I also considered popping the other shoe, but I didn't feel too much of a difference, so I waited until the other shoe popped on its own.

    Like you i thought this was a great idea. But after doing this i realized and felt the very considerable amount of weight that the silicone added. It totally eliminates the weightless factor the shoe was designed for. And while i was wearing them after the repair at a park, while i was walking next thing i knew there was silicone shooting out of the heel section. This was a month after the repair. But basically the little dab of silicone where the hole is dries but none of what's inside the bubble gets any air so it doesn't actually dry or harden up at all. So while walking the dried plug can come out and then its back to square one. I own 70 pairs of air max releases from 2010 to 2020. And I'm so tired of air bubbles popping on them. As much as i loved Air Max over the years i have to admit they are all crap compared to the pillow like cushioning and comfort of the Adidas ultra boost technology. So I'm gonna sell all my air max and go with adidas permanently. That's the best solution for the flat Air Max bubbles.

    • @BukesWorld
      @BukesWorld  2 года назад +11

      I agree. Although I only had a relapse on one fixed pair, it repaired itself shortly after. Nevertheless, there is no reason consumers should have to suffer through this, especially after spending so much money. Nike should simply put the same hard rubber that is on the heel across the entire bottom of the shoe.

    • @metalshredder4life817
      @metalshredder4life817 2 года назад +2

      Yes sir. They made the shoe look very appealing in the eye of new fashion at the time but put no effort into the durability on the vapor max. But even regular air max have popped on me so many times i stopped keeping track. Its a shame too because i was a fan of Air max for so many years and have so many. I still buy Nike Basketball and Air Griffey Max 1s and other 90s retro releases though that have never had issues with popping. so they still get a good bit of my money.

    • @BukesWorld
      @BukesWorld  2 года назад +3

      @@metalshredder4life817 I agree. It's a shame nike didn't put much effort into making the bubble durable. I, like you, also noticed that my Nike Airs from the 80's & 90's never sprung a leak. I still have an old pair of Nike Air sneakers from the 90's that look like shit, but the bubble is still in tact. I use them as my housework shoes.To dig the knife in deeper, i think i only paid about $60 bucks for Airs back then. All said, Nike needs to do better for the amount of money they charge.

      I would suggest either:
      1. Using the same two hole method used in the video after placing tape over the hole in the back to keep the silicone from escaping, or
      2. Try placing one hole in the furthest portion of that bubble to let air escape, then inject silicone through the pre-existing hole in the back until the bubble is completely filled.
      Neither is full proof, but it's worth a try.

      If you have a tear in the back of the bubble, you will have to let the silicone set for a longer time to cure. Refill the bubble and forget about the sneakers for a week or two. That should be enough time for the silicone to cureenough to provide a barrier.

      The silicone will actually set. You just have to give it time. I only expected the hole surface to set leaving the rest gooey, but over time, all of the silicone gelled. The shoe became just slightly heavier, but still delivered and comfortable walk.

      Once you've completely filled the bubble, place the shoe in the proper wearing position and let it sit for a day or two. The silicone will start to cure and seal the hole on its own. Question:
      How long did you let the silicone sit to cure ? The silicone usually sets around the hole in about 24 hours making the shoe wearable. It may take about a week or two for the rest of the silicone to completely cure. As long as the silicone sets around the hole area, you can wear the shoe as you normally do.
      Did you completely the bubble with silicone ? If not, try using the two hole method so you can completely fill the bubble by pushing all the air out. Then let sit for a day in the normal resting position so that he silicone rests on the hole.
