I worked on P&G as Product Researcher for Laundry (Ace and Ariel segment for Latam). The only package hasn't any function (beyond contains the product) is the plastic bag (for powder or pods). But all bottles (Tide liquid or Downy pellets) have technical functions to contain and dispense the product. Don't waste your money buying glass containers are expensive and dangerous. You can manipulate in a wrong way that glass container and creates an accident.

For things you wanna hide, close the cabinet doors.
Putting things on a lazy suzan makes it less "easy access" than just putting things in a row.
Cleaning agent in a glass jar with a faucet = easy mess.
Detergent in a heavy glass jar you have to take down every time, inefficient. And for both, the normal containers come with measured caps.
And last, the curtain creates a huge fire hazard.

My preference is to be more sustainable even if it’s less aesthetic. Buying containers to store what already comes in containers doesn’t make sense to me. Also in terms of safety with chemical products I think it’s good to keep them in their original packaging in case they are misused like being accidentally ingested or maybe they cause a burn. It could be handy to know exactly what ingredients were in the product.

That jar of scent beads looks wayyyy too much like a jar of jelly beans or some other candy. Based on my experience, I was tall enough to climb on top of the washing machine when I was 8 and we had things like batteries and duct tape up there. As an 8 year old I obviously knew by then not to eat soap, but I was really short so I was as tall as a 5 year old. Reason I say this is because that means a 5 year old can and will climb up there as well and think that stuff is candy because it's not even in a package. If it was your own kid maybe you could've taught them by then that that's soap but you may have forgotten to or you could have someone visiting the house with their 5 year old who never had to lookout for soap that looks like a candy jar before and was just told not to eat stuff from that packaging. You also never know if they might have an even younger kid who's just really really tall. I used to watch one kid who was as tall as a 4 year old and he was like only 1 year and 5 months old. Little dude was so tall. All I can think is that with how tall that kiddo was he would definitely be a victim of the fake candy jar if he was visiting someone's house.

Exactly it is completely impractical alongside being unsustainable. You wont know how old the products are, the instructions on their use, and you have just given yourself one extra thing to clean. Plus, all of this stuff is literally inside a cabinet!! The door closes for a reason. Who cares if its not aesthetically pleasing the whole point is that you keep it out of sight. I feel like this couple just has too much time on their hands.

It looks nice but I would have decorated the laundry room differently. It looks neater because things are now inside the cabinets, but the room looks the same once you close the cabinet doors. I probably would have just put a plant or some type of decorative accessory on top of the cabinets, a couple pieces of art on the walls, and a rug on the floor. Also, although the detergent inside the clear container looks nice, I would put a label on it so people know what is in the container. But I think leaving the detergent in the original container will be more practical because now you will have to clean the clear containers, which is more work than just throwing them in the trash. One last thing, the curtain doesn't fit well in the space. Instead, disguising the electrical outlets would perhaps be a better safety option and would have saved more money for the project. There are many other outlet covers that can change the appearance.

I would have saved money on the containers and storage stuff and instead updated the cabinets, maybe repaint them, stain them, or cover in a cool wallpaper, and change out the hardware.
The stuff with the “ugly packaging” could be hidden in the cupboards.
I also maybe would have added a tabletop over the washer/dryer, which could be used for folding, sorting, or for extra surface area.
Also it’s such a small space, I think it would be cool to go with funky colors and finishing! That’s what I did with my small closet area, it’s a fun space to experiment with!

My heart!!!! My heart!!!! What have you done. Haha. You just did this to hurt people.
    Paint the room.
Add a cool hanging plug in light fixture
Pictures from Goodwill on back wall to hide the outlet plugs.
Get fabric stretched over cardboard that’s fitted to cover the back of the cabinet wall for pop of color when you open cabinets
    Cool door pulls
Hooks on walls for hangers for drying.
Leave cleaning supplies in labeled containers, but organize nicely. Top shelf pretty linens or low access items.
You could do all this on 100.00 if you use some stuff from around the house.
I put art on all four walls of my laundry room, from top to bottom. Posters, oil paintings, figurines. Hung green plastic plants from ceiling. Did a little neon light that said “Good!” that was also a night light. Cool bathroom rug on floor. It was very cheerful and made a dull room glorious.
Better to shop garage sales or thrift stores or Dollar store for more unusual items too. All that Target stuff overpriced, come on.

    Shopping list-
    2 round cake pans
1 bag of marbles/marble-like vase fillers (all from dollar tree. Price $3.75 + tax)
    Process-
Place enough marbles inside of 1 pan to form a single layer.
Place the other pan on top/inside of the first pan.
Fill with cleaning products & spin (notice the added benefit that the sides of the pan will hold the cleaning items in place while spinning).

    • @susangraham1203
      @susangraham1203 3 месяца назад +4

I don't see anyone hating on her. It's just that in reality, it wasn't a makeover. All she needed to do was put the stuff in the cupboards and close the doors. There was no point putting the laundry soap and fragrance beads in other containers when they were going to be behind closed doors anyway. The only makeover part was maybe, the curtain, which many people have pointed out could be a fire hazard. She can certainly do whatever she likes, but to call this a makeover is a bit ingenuous.

"Less than $100" shouldn't mean get as close to $100 as you can without going over, the cabinets themselves take up more space than they save, you could have taken them out entirely and replaced them with shelves, there's so much empty space above the cupboards too, all wasted space, you could have this laundry room double up as a linen closet if you just had open-faced shelving and used it to store towels and bedlinens, you could still use a curtain in the equation to cover said shelves if you really felt the need to, and get more value for money in the process.
All in all I wouldn;t really call this a makeover, I'd call it a cover up.
