My twin sister & I met & worked at "The Newsboys" booth at Jesus "90". The entire band was so on fire for God!! Now so many years later I've come back to the Lord. The key is to make Jesus Christ 1st in your life, if you don't I know from personal experience, God can't bless us if we don't even recognize Him as our Savior & KEEP HIM (JESUS CHRIST) 1st in your heart & your life. May God bless all of you out there!!!!
Boy, that was so touching. It's so true that as Christian ministers we got to have our priorities in sharp focus so that we don't lose what is precious. God bless you Peter and your marriage. May it be fully restored!
Such a critically necessary message for this generation. You guys bless me so much, and I thank God for your fine spiritual heritage. You both are like trees planted by the streams of water, and will continue to bear much fruit.. Love you guys... and , thank you!
I thank God for the persons he has placed in my life. When I see stories like this, I realize just how much I have been blessed to come to the understanding that my family IS a ministry in itself that God has trusted me with. Paul teaches that we are to love our wives as Christ loves the church... as Christ gave up everything else for it. I still wholeheartedly believe in the other things God wants to work in my life... but my wife comes second to no one or thing save God Himself!
What a difficult situation, I'm sure he absolutely loves his music and the band, but he did the right thing no doubt. In the Bible says that you have to put your spouse first than your own life and needs, Peter is a true man to accept that he was backsliding and not paying attention to his house. I'm sure it was hard to stop but his marriage is worth it, all the blessings in the world to their marriage and family! We miss you but we totally support you 100%
Summer sounds so sweet. The Newsboys are awesome and Peter is definitely sending out a wake-up call to the other pastors who are making the same mistake he did. Well done, mate :)
When was this interview done? Would this be the reason for him stepping out as the band's lead singer? Wow! Now I understand...God bless your marriage, What a testimony!
this so true,so many ministers forget about there family but is not they mean too ,they get to involed that they forget....IM glad they saw that before it was to late ,..Praise GOD
This is very much possible. Ministry is service, it is the work. And when the work takes the forefront above your walk and your marriage it absolutely can become a detriment. Peter isn't saying that God's work was killing his marriage, he owned up to it. It has to do with placing the work ahead of everything else.
The hardest thing possible is being married to a rocker. Even harder is giving up rock and ministry for your wife. Good on them, but I am extreeeeeeeeeeemely sad to see Peter go. :(
Hi Lemoasa, Peter stepped down but will continue to lead the Newsboys. He and his family are returning to Austrailia to care for Peters parents who are elderly. We will miss him.
this is a rather legalistic post, you are playing with words. Peter said quite clearly his ministry was coming before his wife and that was causing a problem. There is no doubt He was called by God to write and sing. ANYTHING or ANYONE coming forst in your life is not going to be blessed. He said this. He is very brave and courageous and apparently listening to God to make such a change in his life. We and God will still be blessed by his music.
I love the newsboys the music is good but what they said just proves we are all we have even if you get involved with church and putting god 1st you risk loosing family I can loose friends but family is what this life is all about and growing up in church I always felt pushed away anyway most never even tried to help me understand I had to read the bible myself and find out on my own Christian bands get caught up in the churchy atmosphere and loose themselves at least Peter Furler found balance
Hope he comes back when His Parents Pass on...I hate to make it sound like I am putting some one down but the new lead singer just isnt right for the band...
@eden512 He's actually staying in the States Eden. I had a chance to spend time w/him recently, & he said one of the main reasons he stepped down was he needed to take a break from the songwriting & stuff. He said he felt like if he had kept on going without that break, his songwriting would've really gone downhill. He and Summer are doing really well though.
This makes no sense...if they are truly serving the Lord, they would give all their money away to the poor, God does not want you to be rich! Did Jesus not say in the book of Matthew to the rich man to give away everything he owned and follow Jesus? You cannot serve two masters. It's either money or the Lord.

Blessed be the name of the Lord. Thank you God for using this man. You have touched so many through him. Bless you Peter and your family.

Wow. I had no idea. I've seen new video of John James's testimony, but I never heard Pete & Summer's. God bless!
He has amazing eyes to match his amazing ministry!
What a beautiful clip. Thanks for posting it. How honest and what a testimony of God's grace. Thank you Jesus!

I really admire this guy!!!!
Wow. This is just...something I think people need to hear!!!
The Furler's are wonderful!

You are so beautifull together! May God bless you.
He's not saying God let it get that way, he's saying he got so caught up in doing God's work that he, as a human, failed his family.

I think it can actually do that; when you prefer your ministry instead of your family. Don't be religious.

Woohoo!
