The expansion in the Timeline has saved my life! Well, probably over exaggeration, but seriously! This is by far the best tutorial! You sir, are a gent!
You are perhaps the only one who explained multicam like in TV. Even ordinary one-on-one interviews can be on multicam just as with multiple people being interviewed at the same time like a roundtable in a TV show. But no one talks about such situations. Strange.

+kevin palomo I know right! I was editing the super long why by turning layers on and off until I found the place where I wanted to cut. It would take ages. I cut my time by more than half by doing it this way. Also syncing is amazing even if you don't have audio or time codes you can put markers in and then sync to markers or snap the clip to it. Problem is you need a pretty beefy PC if you want more than a few camera streams I start having some stuttering with 5.
cheddar07 yea I definitely want to learn about syncing because I have two external audio recorders and a camera to synch. Do you know any good videos to watch on that?
+kevin palomo - In Premiere Pro, the only way is to Right-click and choose Create Multicam Source Sequence. That process will sync the audio and video clips. If you sync using any other resources outside of Premiere Pro, you'll still have to do it this way.
@@VideoRevealed thank you I will have to give this a go with the footage I have since I clapped and made a loud noise. Will that be enough to synchronize the camera feeds?

Thank you sir. I have another worry, and I do not know what it is called, but it is something like, ''zooming'' or ''panning'' the reporter's screen into full view like in this video between 0:14 and 0:16. Thanks for helping.
Hi Colin, greetings from Ireland (again). I will be recording a classical music concert soon, with just 2 cameras. Can I ask: 1) Do I select audio when importing, if the audio is being recorded separately and 2) Do the cameras have to be started at the same time and can they be switched on and off, during recording and still sync? Thanks for any help. Stephen
If you're using secondary audio then choose 1 camera for the Mulicam Source. That way it won't switch with the cameras. Manually starting all cameras is not accurate enough to sync. You need something that controls all the cameras. Something like this: tentaclesync.com/ If you start and stop the cameras, Premiere Pro will put every clip on it's own track. You may end up with dozens of tracks just for a single camera. There's no way to get around this in Premiere Pro. PluralEyes does a much better job: www.maxon.net/en/red-giant-complete/pluraleyes/
Yes, but it would immediately throw everything out of sync. The whole reason to use Multicam is because you have multiple sources shot at the same time.
Your videos are super helpful and straight to the point. I have a question. How do you get premiere to play back so flawlessly in real time. Mine lags and jumps and pauses. I have 128 gigs of RAM, overclocking, liquid cooled system with server class drives and premiere still acts slow. The only thing running on my production pc is Adobe products. That is all I use it for. Unless I pre render everything I have the issue. Even making a cross dissolve causes adobe to act slow. I reinstalled it several times as well.
I'm assuming that you're talking about multiple streams because this tutorial is about multicam? This tutorial is using HD demo files on an SSD via USB 3 so that's why I'm getting good playback. If you're media is anything larger, like 4k, then you need to create proxies. I also find if you are getting stuttering playback, you should stop and start playback again as sometimes that makes things smooth.
By the way, what's the best way to take a bin of audio dailies and bin of picture dailies and syncing them up? I tried to highlight them all and make a multicam sequence but Premiere wasn't smart enough to find which audio goes for which picture. So I ended up manually making a separate multicam sequence for each take. Is that the way it has to work?
Hi, Colin. This video has helped me tremendously, as I shoot with three cameras on my woodturnings, so I can get three different views of the workpiece being shaped. I have hit a problem, however. I create the multi-cam sequences, edit them, then put them on the master sequence. Then, any transition I put between sequences shows a black screen on the right-hand sequence. So the only transition that works is fade-to-black, since it is black already. Have you encountered this? Do you know of a solution, or what I might be doing wrong? Thanks much!
In my example I create a Multicam Source, and switch cameras in the Multicam Master. Are you editing the Source or the Master? I just tried adding transitions to the Master and it worked fine. Have you tried creating a new Master, then flattening it before adding the transitions?
Thank you, Colin. I appreciate your help. I'll watch your video again. I edit the multi-cam sequence (and no problems with transitions there). Then I add the edited sequence to the main sequence, and that's where I hit the transitions problem. I'll go over the whole process again to make sure I'm doing it correctly. All of your videos, including this one, have been a huge help to me. I started using Premiere Pro about a year ago, and I can't tell you how many things I have learned from you.
Your videos have been so helpful for me! When using this “tv switching method,” I have run into a problem and I’m not sure how to fix it. Basically when I cut the audio, there is a short noise that is created where the cut is. Have you experienced this? How can I prevent it from happening?
I know from audio editing back in the day, that if you join two pieces without using "zero crossing" option you get clicks. Not sure what premiere does about this, as frame editing is not as precise as waveform editing
Thank you sir for the education. my problem is i shoot two cameras one shooting the entire event and the order doing cutaways. i find it difficult syncing the cutaways to the main clip. please can you help me? i will be very grateful
Correct, Premiere Pro does not understand that the second camera is "one angle" so to speak. You most likely end up with a new track for each time the second camera shoots something. If that's the case, you can Right-click on the Source Sequence in the Project Bin and choose, Open In Timeline. Now you should be able to select each of the second camera clips, hope down Opt (Mac) Alt (Win) and press the Down Arrow key to move all the second camera clips to one track (V2). Now when you put that Source Sequence into a Multicamera Master Sequence, you should only see two camera angles.
Thanks for posting. I really appreciate your videos. I have seen your videos over numerous times. Can you tell me how would you multicam edit if you have over 16 clips? I believe 16 is the max correct?
+wordupmag - That limitation is for older versions of Premiere Pro because the current version supports unlimited camera angles. There's no way to add more angles in the older version, sorry.
Try importing via the Media Browser. If the Metadata allows it, Premiere Pro will make spanned clips look like a single clip. It doesn't generate new media, it's just a smart import. It that doesn't happen, then the GoPro footage is not spanned and it can't be done. You could manually export out a new single clip from multiple clips but that's a lot of extra work and disk space.
The only way to do that is to use a Multicamera Sequence. There are several steps to set it up, and it can be confusing, but here is a tutorial. ruclips.net/video/J2hLSp9_s8Y/видео.html
Great video, but I have a different problem. I had to create a Multicam completely from scratch because there was so much wind at the ceremony that the audio sync wouldn't work. I successfully did it, however I don't know how to tell Premiere that it's a Multicam sequence. I try importing that sequence into another sequence and that works but it doesn't show me the different cameras/layers. What am I missing? Thanks in advance!!
Great video! I have clips that I put together manually because the audio wasn't great. Can I make it a multi-cam after the fact? Otherwise I'm having to toggle the "eye" of each layer so I can see what's underneath - a real pain. Thanks!
Yes, you can change it manually! Follow the steps in the VideoRevealed video and let Premiere Pro make a new Multi-Cam sequence from them. Then right click to open that new Multi-Cam sequence in the timeline. You'll see all the camera and audio clips on tracks. You can do ANYTHING you want to those clips... INCLUDING deleting them all, and REPLACING THEM ALL with other clips. Think of it like this: Once you have created a Multi-Cam sequence... you essentially have created a "container" that you can change in any way you want. In your case, 1. create the Multi-Cam sequence; 2. Delete all the clips inside that Multi-Cam sequence; 3. go back to your original sequence (that you manually sync'd up all your cameras with bad audio); 4 SELECT AND COPY all of those clips... 6. go back to that new Multi-Cam sequence (which should be empty, since we deleted everything in there earlier), and PASTE your copied clips into the Multi-Cam sequence. ALSO: The clips don't need to be contiguous either! e.g. if your project has 1 long take on cam 1, but several short takes on cam 2 and cam 3 that start and stop in various places. Say, like a concert with one main cam for the entire concert, plus 2 cameras walking around, recording several short clips from different angles and songs. You must sync them yourself in whatever way you can (using multi-cam sync doesn't seem to work for this), and after you have them sync'd you copy and paste them into the Multi-cam sequence. IT WILL WORK. (Premiere Pro DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ABLE to sync non-contiguous clips for you though)
EDLs do not support Premiere Pro Multicam. You need to flatten the Multicam, then export as an EDL. This tutorial might help: ruclips.net/video/rrezCN9mwBQ/видео.html
Maybe your system can't play multiple streams of video and it's stuttering? If your export looks fine then that would be the problem. If your export also strobes, the I'm not really sure. Maybe the media is bad or the cache is corrupt?
Yes, I use Camtasia to record the screen but I edit the complete program in Premiere Pro. Adobe does have a Camtasia equivalent called Captivate. More info here: www.adobe.com/products/captivate.html
Thanks a lot! So what I think is, you recorded using Camtasia, did basic screen capture editing like the rectangle animation etc., rendered it as a video file and then took that file along with your camera captured video footage and then did the final editing in premiere pro, perhaps just like the multi camera editing that you are describing in this video. Am I right? Because this is what I do and and I just wanted to know whether a pro like yourself does the same.
I'm trying to use switch audio in order to use the audio from both cameras but all i hear is the master track audio even when I make my cuts. Am I missing a step or doing something wrong?
quick question... I'm sure there is a simple thing I'm over looking but say you have multi cam clip finished and you just want to remove one camera change (take it out completely ) how do you do it. thanks for your time
Two ways to do this, go to the 4:11 mark in this tutorial and you'll see how to open the Source Sequence. Just delete any camera you don't' want. For a non-destructive method, have a look at this screenshot: i.imgur.com/ENW8rLR.png
You can't create a Multicamera Source Sequence any other way, so you have to go through that process. Once you have that Source Sequence, you can put anything into it and the results will show in the Multicamera Master.
The Multicamera Master should be edited on that Sequence and not put into another Sequence. The Multicamera Source Sequence can be editing in another Sequence but I'm not sure what the benefit would be.
I have a question. Can this work with proxy files? We need the steps to make it work. What u think about that? Cause even though we have good computers and high end systems. We still have that choppy problem.
Thanks for the advice. I'm wondering why my video on a big monitor is blurry when I work in a multicamera mode? (premiere pro CS6) Thanks in advance for the answer...
Yes you can but Premiere Pro interprets this as a new angle so you end up with a new track for each time you start and stop. My recommendation is to use PLURALEYES. www.maxon.net/en/red-giant-complete/pluraleyes
Is there a way to manually make a multi camera sequence. I have one camera with no sound on channel 1 (sound only on channel 2) and it won't recognize it
You can't create a Multicam Source Sequence manually but you can use different clips that do work to initially make the Sequence, then Right-click and "Open in Timeline". Once you have a Multicamera Source Sequence open in the Timeline, you can freely add and remove clips anyway you want.
Sir, Can you figure out what could be the reason that my 'Multi-camera selection view' is greyed out and if I click the icon than I the main view is duplicated but I don't have the angles selection view (only one angle there)? It was fine when I started editing the sequence but at a certain point, it does not allow me Multicam selection anymore. I could not find a solution for that on the web
Hello! Coming over from Edius. Finally getting smitten with Premier. I am on a Mac with Premier Pro cs6. I am editing weddings with multi-cam and multi-audio. I have selected my appropriate clips (footage from camera 1,2, and 3) and tried to open up "Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence." All seemed well until I noticed that I do not have the options you do. I only seem to have the options for Timecode. I'm trying to sync through audio but can't seem to access this option which is really what I need to save hours while editing the ceremony (3 cameras w/own audio tracks). What version of Premier Pro are you using? Any idea why I can't access this? Thanks so much.
CS6 was so long ago that I forget what options are missing. I'm using the latest version of Premiere Pro CC 2018. You could buy a third-party sync tool like Plural Eyes or I just found another tool called Syncaila: syncaila.com/
Hi, I am windows user and i use Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017 for my videos. But i wonder what is difference between Adobe Premiere Pro and final cut pro x? ! they do same job just in different tools? or maybe i'm wrong? If i switch! then i need to spend some $ to get a good machine. what you recommend? Thanks
They do the same thing but they do it in different ways. Premiere Pro's advantage is that it works perfectly with any video format and all the other Adobe applications including native import of After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator. FCP X is easier for some users with less complex projects but there are also restrictions when working in any Apple program. My advice is to stay with Premiere Pro.
Premiere Pro CC 2018 now has a Match Color feature in the Lumetri Color Panel. I will have a tutorial on that soon. But even with that, it's important to understand that different cameras record information differently. You're not going to make a GoPro look like a RED camera so even with auto color capability, you still have to manually tweak things yourself.
You should always have the latest version but it should work in your version too. Try Right-clicking on the clip in the Multicamera Master clip and make sure Multicam is enabled.
Update to the latest version of Premiere Pro CC 2018 to get all the latest updates and bug fixes. I also have a tutorial on troubleshooting here: ruclips.net/video/4JPMYbYs0RM/видео.html
When you pick a clip, that will be the size of your show or program or video. If you want your final video to be HD, the pick an HD clip. If you want it to be 4k, pick a 4k clip.
Pro tip - don't start your tutorial in the middle. Start from scratch. When you start with stuff already having been done, it's hard for your viewer to sort out what *their* step 1, step 2, step 3 is. :)

Thanks !!! keep the good work !!
I will Carlos, thanks.
After you've imported the Multicamera Source Sequence into another Sequence, Right-click on it and choose Multicamera> Enable.
@@VideoRevealed THANK YOU!! Man, I couldn't find it for anything! Thanks again!
Great video! I have clips that I put together manually because the audio wasn't great. Can I make it a multi-cam after the fact? Otherwise I'm having to toggle the "eye" of each layer so I can see what's underneath - a real pain. Thanks!
Unfortunately, no. The only way to create a Multicamera Master is to start with a Multicamera Source.
(Premiere Pro DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ABLE to sync non-contiguous clips for you though)
what is d short key to switch between multiple sequence in premiere pro, instead of using mouse to switch every sequence
Try pressing Shift+3 (at the top of the keyboard)

I've edited in multicam sequence and exported EDL. (Adobe Premiere CC 18). When I open EDL of the same, timeline appers blank.
Kindly suggest.
EDLs do not support Premiere Pro Multicam. You need to flatten the Multicam, then export as an EDL.

@@VideoRevealedOkay. I did try this , still it's not working. (No worries). But I must say, you're doing a great job.
I learned many years ago a "step-by-step" method: manually synch; nest; then enable mutli cam. Is one system any better than the other?
Both methods are identical so you're okay either way.
Hello, thank you for professional explaining, I have a problem while switching between cameras , the videos strobes like slow motion
Maybe your system can't play multiple streams of video and it's stuttering?
If your export looks fine then that would be the problem.
If your export also strobes, the I'm not really sure. Maybe the media is bad or the cache is corrupt?
is there any shorctcut to switch, i supposed to click 123 to switch
Hi Collin, Just wanted to know, did you use camtasia to capture and edit this video tutorial? Is there an adobe product that can do the same job?
Thank you for sharing this Sir. Your are awesome!
You're very welcome.
which configuration mac your are using no frame lag in playback or you using proxies
For this tutorial I was using an HP ZBook Mobile Workstation with 32GB RAM. It's not your normal laptop, it's a beast!
I'm trying to use switch audio in order to use the audio from both cameras but all i hear is the master track audio even when I make my cuts. Am I missing a step or doing something wrong?
You have to create the Source Sequence with the Audio set to All Cameras. There is no way to change this after the fact.
Hallo. How to make video touchscreen in layar phone with Adobe premiere
quick question...
For a non-destructive method, have a look at this screenshot:

Thanks for that!
Is it possible to switch between camera angles to edit if you did not sync the sources using the multi cam sequence option?
You can't create a Multicamera Source Sequence any other way, so you have to go through that process. Once you have that Source Sequence, you can put anything into it and the results will show in the Multicamera Master.
Thank you.
What if you are done with your multicam editing then you use the open in timeline but in another sequence will it still be edited ?
The Multicamera Master should be edited on that Sequence and not put into another Sequence.
The Multicamera Source Sequence can be editing in another Sequence but I'm not sure what the benefit would be.
I have a question. Can this work with proxy files? We need the steps to make it work.
What u think about that? Cause even though we have good computers and high end systems. We still have that choppy problem.
Yes it does. I sent you and email with the tutorial link.
Thanks for the advice. I'm wondering why my video on a big monitor is blurry when I work in a multicamera mode? (premiere pro CS6) Thanks in advance for the answer...
There is a resolution setting at the bottom right of the Program monitor. Make sure it's set to Full.
Can we turn on and off cameras during the overall shoot if want?
Yes you can but Premiere Pro interprets this as a new angle so you end up with a new track for each time you start and stop. My recommendation is to use PLURALEYES.

Hi. I'm using premier pro cs6 and I can't find the settings you said about switching cameras. Can you tell me how to do it please? Thank you
I honestly can't remember where it is in CS6 as that was a long time ago. It's in there somewhere, sorry but I don't have CS6 installed to check.
Thank you sir
You're welcome.
wow... This video saves my hours. Thanks
+Vinay Fulara - Great!
Sir,
Can you figure out what could be the reason that my 'Multi-camera selection view' is greyed out and if I click the icon than I the main view is duplicated but I don't have the angles selection view (only one angle there)? It was fine when I started editing the sequence but at a certain point, it does not allow me Multicam selection anymore. I could not find a solution for that on the web
That's very odd. Have you tried dragging the Multicamera Source Sequence into a new Sequence?
Also, did you Right-click on the Multicamera Source within the main Sequence to see if Multicam is enabled?
You could buy a third-party sync tool like Plural Eyes or I just found another tool called Syncaila:
syncaila.com/
Makes a lot more sense now, thanks so much! Greatly appreciated!!!
Hi, which software you are using? Is it OBS?
I use Camtasia to record the screen, zoom in and add the red highlights.
thanks sir
You're welcome.
mine wasn't working when i try audio what should i do time code is not working too
Timecode only works if you've used professional jam sync hardware to lock your cameras.
I can't think of a fix if audio isn't syncing. Sorry.
Hi,
I am windows user and i use Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017 for my videos.
Thanks
soooo lovelyyy
Thanks.
Dear good video - my problem is when I work with 4 diffrent camera : 2 gopro 1 sony and 1 panasonic - is very difficult doing color grading :-)
Premiere Pro CC 2018 now has a Match Color feature in the Lumetri Color Panel. I will have a tutorial on that soon.
But even with that, it's important to understand that different cameras record information differently. You're not going to make a GoPro look like a RED camera so even with auto color capability, you still have to manually tweak things yourself.
many tks for your prompt reply
goo job, Big like!!!
Thanks.
If my toggle multicam view switch is not working, does it mean that my Premiere Pro is broken or something?
Or you don't have a Multicam Sequence selected? Other than that, not sure why.
@@VideoRevealed Thank you for replying. I am at a loss too.
Maybe I have to upgrade my Premiere. Could that be a reason?
You should always have the latest version but it should work in your version too. Try Right-clicking on the clip in the Multicamera Master clip and make sure Multicam is enabled.
@@VideoRevealed It is working perfectly fine now. I synced everything first in Plural Eyes. Then I exported into Premiere. Now it works after nesting.
When I've created my multicam sequence and try to open it, it immediately crashes.. do you know a fix to this?
Update to the latest version of Premiere Pro CC 2018 to get all the latest updates and bug fixes.
I also have a tutorial on troubleshooting here: ruclips.net/video/4JPMYbYs0RM/видео.html
When I switch the next camera I want some transactions so sir it is possible in premiere pro.... Please sir tell me.....
If you're asking to automatically have transitions applied when switching cameras, that is not possible in Premiere Pro.
I love You, nice one
Thanks.
Thanx
You're welcome.
how setup two cameras live during the concert?
There's nothing special about two cameras. They aren't synced so just setup the second camera to cover a different angle.
you complete us thank you love from Africa , Kenya Radio Africa Studios
I'm glad you liked it and hello from Canada.
@@VideoRevealed - Hello.
Paul McCartney! Yeah!
Oh yeah, he's incredible.
"Choose the first one. That is your sequence size."
What does that mean?
When you pick a clip, that will be the size of your show or program or video. If you want your final video to be HD, the pick an HD clip. If you want it to be 4k, pick a 4k clip.
@@VideoRevealed Thank you. I was confused with size and whether you meant file size, video length or recording quality.

Pro tip - don't start your tutorial in the middle. Start from scratch. When you start with stuff already having been done, it's hard for your viewer to sort out what *their* step 1, step 2, step 3 is. :)
