      Actually, it sound very Yiddish first of all, which makes sense, as it must’ve been his native language, unlike Russian.
      There is Russian influence as well, but it’s definitely not a typical Russian accent.

      Trotsky left Europe for Mexico in 1937. Here he thanks president Cardenas for his hospitality so I am assuming it was not after his arrival.
      So I guess around the end of 1937 and beginning of 1938.
      His video is English, so obviously for an anglo-saxon audience (keep in mind English was not the universal language it is today).
      Seeing as he was planning to go to visit the US shortly before he died, it might also have been filmed closer to his death, maybe 1939.
      Anyway, good judgment.

    • @viggoforster

      @TheodoresTomfooleries 3 месяца назад +2

      It's actually incredibly easy to narrow this down.
      Trotsky mentions both the "Zinoviev-Kamenev trial" (August 1936) and the "Pyatakov-Radek trial" (January 1937).
      A commission; the "Dewey Commission';, was formed in March 1937. Because in this video Trotsky asks for the creation of a Commission, rather than referencing one, it stands that this video took place either between January 1937 and March 1937.

      @@mah9582 By March 1933 election Hitler was quite far ahead but in 1932 I think it probably was still salvageable even though they were quite far behind by that point, and with support of USSR then the communists could have probably turned it around and won.
      I think a lot of the anti-communist sentiment that caused communism to fail to spread in Europe was down to Stalin being extremely unpopular (for good reason) meanwhile even with someone like Lenin, Bukharin or Trotsky communism would have been much less frowned upon because it would have been actually communism not Stalinism which was solely about self-preservation.

      comrade, Trotsky was a good man, but, not perfect. To worship a man, is fundamentally against any doctrine from any true preacher of Communist ideals. Instead, you should focus upon the revolution at hand, the praxis we can deploy. Instead of worshipping Trotsky, READ Trotsky. Learn from him, but always remember he can be improved upon.
      Stay strong, comrade. And always remember to punch your local facist/stalinist.
