    Could you please elaborate more on the exercise on why activity E is not a dummy activity towards activity G. By the way, this was an awesome video.

      Because E is one of the immediate predecessors of G.

      One activity can have only one arrow ... if two activity are preceded by one activity then there must be a dummy because if you are going to put two arrow that means you are doing same activity two time. Why you will do same activity two time , give it a dummy .

      real answer: if you drew arrows C and D to meet at one node (no dummy variable) and then have arrow E coming from that node, you will find that you CANNOT draw arrow F from any node to show that its predecessor is only arrow C and not D. That is why we need a dummy variable. There is no need for a dummy variable from E to the node before G since it is totally fine to have multiple arrows go to the same node as long as the arrows come from different starting nodes.

    In the 2nd example why doesn't E start from C? Is there a difference between direct predecessors

      that's what the dummy arrow is for.
