This is not a really low bass aria, its lowest note is a Db at the bottom of the tenor range. For whats its worth Rebroff always sounded like a lyric baritone in this range but could descend deep into the bass range and below where he very much sounded like a true profundo. See his version of the german drinking song "Im Tiefen Keller" where he goes down to an F#1.
