    Well done Botswana for securing your agricultural food sector. No African country should be dependent on foreign produced food. I hope this is not only directed to South Africa as we all, which would be quite concerning since we all know how Botswana is co-operating militarily with America. Either than that, well done and all the best. Africa needs a competitive trading environment in order to boost the stagnate intra-continental trading agreement that we see as a burden due to corruption and collusion. Much love from South Africa

      @thandonqamqhele1425 3 месяца назад +4

      Well this is a bad move and not in good faith. Botswana should have engaged SA farmers, give them a deadline, they start by allowing each produce to be imported in Botswana only in certain seasons to cover seasons when Botswana won't be able to supply in excess and this would help maintain low prices in Botswana as well during those seasons. There will always be a shortfall in the market, like in times of drought in Botswana. It's a good move that I support, but it's not executed in good faith to the parties involved.

    • @RastaAfricanGentleman
      @RastaAfricanGentleman 3 месяца назад +4

      @@thandonqamqhele1425 I actually agree with you in a fair world. Unfortunately, international trade is based on who can get what from you and never in good faith. Botswana is forcing the shock in the international market of which will force South African Agricultural Sector to lower prices if it chooses to re-invigorate the trade and at the same time opens up another African country to make a proposal to supply the same crops at a lower rate in order to appeal to Botswana. Indirectly that surplus of crops inside South Africa can tend to the local market and stop the need for importing so much from outside our country, further empower food security in our borders too

    Again I find it unfair when some South Africans claim that they only heard about this on X. That is not true, Botswana and Namibia informed South Africa about the change two years ago.
    We discussed it on the social media, it is not new, and both these neighbouring countries mad a formal announcement to the South Africans, the only thing that the Agricultural Association of SA was complaining about was that they should have been told in advance.

      As a citizen of the country, Botswana is controlled by indians, Chinese and USA you would even be surprised by how they treat black citizens compared to foreigners, public service etc.. some are even awarded tenders worth millions imagine 😂 that can never happen in china 😮. I only commend his leadership in putting a ban in fruits and vegetables imports and a few mentionable achievements in his tenure as the president of Botswana. But I believe most foreigners are evading tax, particularly the Chinese stores, our national security is at a threat, we have too much illegal immigrants living in Botswana, land allocation for citizens is like a big problem imagine waiting for 10-30 years to be given land in your own country. Lack of privatization is also a big issue. I wish we could start a manufacturing plants for weapons for our forces improve and reinforce our border security. The health care system is weakening every year our nurses, doctors are migrating to uk etc..old people are filled in public service offices and positions 45, 50, 60, in some cases 70 years old, whilst we have high number of unemployed graduates in Botswana in areas of engineering, health, sciences, law, etc in thousands just because for you to be hired they would say 10 year experience or 5 year experience it is the saddening part. Not making excuses for unemployed youth but mostly in Botswana what works is connections who do know experience comes second. I don't know how some nurses are even hired because some attitude they give patients it is just sad and quality of services is poor. I don't understand and see the unity in this country😢. Most Botswana are lazy in jobs some things are not arguable it's just a fact that one we need to self reflect and change. There is no freedom of speech don't be fooled by what the media and newspapers tell you, most have been established since the ruling party took power o influence goes back. We are pawns in this politicians eyes even the billions of pulas that went missing up until now hasn't been accounted for😢, the government has stopped issuing tenders recently, our sports and athletics could be on of the best in Africa and the whole world if we invested in it we could have had the football teams performing at high levels, athletics could be far by now the amount of youth who give up because of lack of funding and being equipped with necessary resources, mind you I knew some back in my college years who had the potential. Poor roads in the second capital city in Botswana how developments are delayed all this cannot be resolved overnight but a lot needs to change. You cannot also have a president going on international trips so frequently utilizing so much state resources for things that we are not made aware of. We should build factories fund groups of young engineers start their companies build our own cars, trucks etc...look at how the USA helped Elon musk endeavors and after that we can hike prizes and even stop all imports of used cars in the country which is a trend that seems to be happening all around Africa, just being a big scrap yard continent is not something that we should be getting used to I might be a young man maybe some things are still above my head or degree or understanding but at the end of the day as citizens and the youth we have to be prepared to lead and guide the new Botswana into prosperity, don't just be lured to vote for anybody just because of last minute programmes by government etc..

If other countries rely on importing goods from SA guess what will happen to their local industries. They will come to SA looking for jobs as a result you end up having xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals mainly blacks. The only way to fix the problem is for all SADC countries to protect their industries by banning imports from SA
