I'm very surprised Bowser Jr. didn't show up to do anything, you would think that after all the fuss he made from wanting a mom in Sunshine that he would be absolutely ecstatic to help in a plan that would've ended in Peach as his new Mama
Something i realized upon beating this game is that Bowser and Mario dont seem to be enemies in the traditional sense of the word (at least in this game and other 3D mario titles after Mario 64). in the final scene Mario pats Bowser on the back to cheer him up, so to me it seems like they ARE friends to an extent, but are rivals for Peach's love.
Its not that they are friends or enemies its more of that Mario is so damn stupidly jolly and forgiving that deep down Mario never really does hate Bowser, he only hates him stealing Peach. For Bowser however he truly does hate Mario and will go to serious lengths to kill him where as Mario is actually willing to save Bowser judging by the escape seen after the final battle. Yes Mario could of easily just been using Bowser's body as a means of escape but at the same time he could of also been trying to ensure he doesn't die along with the castle.

I believe in a world where a fire breathing dragon turtle kidnaps multiple princesses in a kingdom where there is no king or queen, and so the princess should actually be a queen with a (by British royal standards) king with no power, only to get stopped by an overweight plumber who's really good at jumping and is really famous to everyone and yet literally no one knows what they look like somehow, constantly having to hire or save other kings (which should actually be dukes, since they canonically serve under bowser) just to slow said plumber down for all of a few hours so that the dragon turtle can get to the precipice of marrying the aforementioned princess but never actually getting to; I really do... BUT HOW IS THAT NOT A DECLARATION OF WAR?

1: sonic has been doing this since the 2000s
2: almost every other platformer has done the serious story at least once
3: the dragon boss fight in Mario Odyssey would fit more in a sonic game than a Mario game.

Maybe the higher they are in the sky the more disoriented they are? The air does get thinner the higher you are in the sky and airships are a much faster may to travel than Cappy's normal speed so those probably have something to do with it

The odyssey works with electricity from the power moons. When it got zapped, the amount of electricity replaced most of the moons.
