In the procduct pictures shows the long second hand is "moving"
But in the description, the long hand is used for the stop watch function, and the smaller dial due south counts the seconds for the big hands. Saw a few complaints thinking the watch was malfunctioning.
Im just getting into watches so this is definitely a phenomenal entry grade. The art deco esque aesthetic really shines through. In America, that font arose in the 1910-1930s and revived in the 60s and 70s. It is back again in this watch. Truly timeless.
Signature Marlin dial and thick "bubble" like glass. About 3mm of the total 13mm height. It's my new daily. (At least for winter 😏)

I completely agree with you, but need to note that it's easier to agree when I recognise that isn't my genre, so I'm talking in terms of advice to others. I think this is a smashing looking design for the generally busy looking chronograph dials. There are lots of contrasting elements and I think the visual balance comes from both the date and the sundials placed against the heavy hour markers. The bracelet really upgrades the experience. Must be a great choice for some.
Timex killed it on this one!! I missed the blue one so got it on eBay instead!

This actually looks clean and simple, dressy while still being sporty. I like this enough that if timex was ever to come out with a mechanical version of this with of course better material used in it's construction to match the mechanical nature of the watch, I truly think it would have some actual legs and become truly iconic in no time. Looks wise it's got everything aligned except for the quartz movement.
Just to add in here, timex is just killing it these last few years regardless of the quartz or the mechanical movements however I think it's time for them to make a mechanical chronograph. I'd suggest personally modular though to keep the cost and overall bulk down and with it start punching up at the entry level swiss mechanical chronographs. I'd think the Miyota Caliber 9039 would be a good base for it as well and yeah with that you'd probably get it made and sold for around or even more likely under $1400, easy striking distance at tissot's heritage 1948 and maybe a bit better looking or at least personally speaking.

Very nice design. I especially like that last version, the panda cream dial on the bracelet. Yes a mechaquartz would have been better and I don’t see the point of a 24hour subdial. It would have been cleaner to drop that, make it bicompax, and have the date at 6. Fortunately there’s lots of options available with that design. I will send you a picture of my Lorier Gemini Nero which I recently managed to get hold of which for me an excellent looking vintage chronograph, like the Heuer’s of old. Cheers Tim for another WOTW!
I recall Tim reviewing a Lorier Skin Diver and had a look at the one you mentioned. Very nice . For not a lot of money in a price band above Timex this company does seem to come out with some nice watches. Timex ? I have an idieglow of course . Out with my lad at night you can read a book by the light. My wife has a "snoopy". You can't go much wrong with a Timex either at the price.
@@richardb22 yes it’s the Lorier Neptune. I’ve had mine for a few years now and was the one Tim has also reviewed. Another awesome watch with vintage features and a good price.
It's ok I guess but to really stand out they're big enough to develop a new quartz flyback movement offering 5 centrally mounted hands for both telling & stopping the time... ie the best stopwatch on any watch at any price. Imagine if Timex did something so bold?
They can keep the numerals, I do like those!
I remember Timex from my childhood :-) But for me there is only one quartz watch and that is the Breitling B-1, in the old version, because of the dual LCD display!
Yeah. Handsome. Not really into complications, personally.
I had Timex watches in the 1970s, so have some affection for them, and the overall look of this Marlin chrono is really nice for the price.
There are a few things about this one that put me off though; it’s far too thick for a quartz (and a very ordinary quartz at that), I find the date window on the tilt at 4.30 nauseating (just because Zenith makes the same mistake is not a reason to repeat it), and an acrylic crystal is a bit too ‘60s authentic.
I agree mecaquartz would have made it more interesting.

It is a mecha-quartz movement with a smooth chronograph sweeping second. Did you see the watch in person?
I've seen quite some footage and there the little second hand is ticking.
Mecha quartz with the three dial variation often has a ticking subdial with the large Chronograph sweeping hand, see seiko, Dan Henry, Jack Mason, Autodromo etc

The renders give the impression that the 6 o'clock dial is the chronograph second hand making the tachymeter useless , but the pictures tell a different story that the centre second hand is the chronograph , can you please confirm the pictures are correct and the renders are wrong.
This watch looks really nice and i like the bulkiness, $200 for a watch in a third world country is on the expensive side, ill try to get this with the blue face.

I once owned a TIMEX Marlin..... handwound...some 40 years ago. Costed only $9.95(+tax) and it was "Made in USA". The comeback Marlins are "Made in Philippines" and cost $200 and above 🤔.
That’s ok, houses were $17 and handies behind the soda fountain were only a nickel.

I don't care for the brand. I grew up with Timex and always felt their cost cutting ways were too obvious. I can however see the appeal of this model...from a distance.
