This video was over 2 years ago and rice water is only just becoming a massive natural trend .. I see a new video every day. Trust nappyfu to be so ahead of the trend
Hey yall. This is a wash day step. Its to be done after dc'ing. After you rinse off your dc go into a tea rinse or rice water step. After you have rinsed that off follow on with your regular routine whether it be loc or lco...styling...etc. Hope this clarifies things on when to do this. Also I do a rinse weekly. I interchange between tea and rice. xoxoxoxo
I used Black tea and Rice water for 2 months and I got length i couldn't get for 6 months. All I did was what I used to rinse out my shampoo and conditioner. AFter a shampoo I rinse out with Black Tea. AFter I DC'd I rinsed with fermented rice water. 2 months later (nothing else changed in my regimen) I had length I struggled to get for 6 months! Thank you and to Discovery Natural!
I gained 1 3/4 inches by a month of protective styling. I kept my hair in flat twists. I moisturized every 2 days by spritzing with water then adding some leave in on my ends. I also oiled my scalp every night with the usual blend of natural oils. I literally haven't retained length in like years until I kept up that routine.
I swear! You are the ONLY one who can help me with my 4c. I've looked at so many videos... Thank you for every thing you do. Just had to tell you that.
Black tea rinse has saved my hair!! I used to shed like crazy and I thought it was normal. first time I tried a tea rinse I got little to no shedding during my normal wash/DC/detangle session. I use the rinse during my DC with heat usually. it helps to balance out the drying properties of the tea. My hair has retained length and I've been doing it about 6 months. collarbone to armpit length 🙌
I do the black tea rinse each wash day and YES it works!!!...for me... immediately after using it made a significant difference when detangling...I use it in a spray bottle when I deep condition...I section my hair...spray with tea...apply deep conditioner and 30 mins later rinse...omg when I comb my hair through there has never been more than a couple of strands on the comb!...there has been plenty of times when there was NO hair on the comb!....I will try the rice and acv rinse...I heard about the rice rinse but never knew how to prepare it so thank you for that!....God Bless!
Today's quote was appropriate for our current situation in this country. I am so glad you found these rinses helpful. You know, I love them and preach them.
Thanks hun. Yes I mention in the description box how I heard about rice water from you first. So thanks for putting me on case rice water has so many amazing benefits. When I think about all the rice water I wasted making rice chai! Its ok I now know how to recycle it.
No hot tools, perms, and dye, those were the three main things for me. I have butt length hair right now (reached it September 2015, and maintaining now for over a year). Patience and good care, and eating healthy! Products don't matter that much (from my perspective).
Something that has helped stimulate hair growth for me guaranteed is massaging my scalp. I will give the rice water a try. I hate!!!! Split ends and knots :( they seem to keep following me
I wanted to say Rosemary too! I once used to rinse my shampoos and conditioners out using rosemary boiled in a big pot and I diluted it with cooler water and used that througout my wash day. I did that without paying attention and my hair was so strong! Highly recommend it! Highly!
Hey...I am such a huge fan!!! :-) I love to make this tea rinse...1. Green tea (reduces breakage) 2. Rosemary leaves (from a Rosemary bush in my back yard is a great hair tonic and promotes hair growth) :-D 3. Grated Ginger Root ( stimulate the scalp for hair growth) and 4. Grated Red Onion (Sulphur for hair growth) I let all the ingredients soak in hot water...and use when in room temp. I don't know if this is a tard too much but I have seen a great improvement in my hair growth. :-)
Thanks for the video. I love using burdock hair rinse after washing my hair. I just put almost a tea spoon and a half of burdock root and let it steep overnight in the refrigerator. You dont necessarily need to keep it that long. Whenever I use it, it makes my hair feel alive and fresh.
I use tea of all types on my hair it works great as a rinse & a spritz . Rice water I have been using it for about month and have seen my hair feel healthier and stronger. I also learned from another RUclipsr that gathers a bunch of teas, herbs, spices and essential oils to create shampoos, spritzes, rinses etc. Oh yeah great video as usual I'm always learning something new.🙂
Gonna try the rinses! I've heard of rice water before but not much. Definitely want to do it. My helpful tip: I've had recent tremendous growth and I'm thinking it's from peppermint oil! When I do my weekly deep condition, I get a few drops (5-6 per section of hair and I use 4 sections when washing) of my "Now" brand, peppermint essential oil and massage it into scalp after applying my deep conditioner. Get under the dryer for 30min and then rinse. I've heard peppermint is a great growth stimulator and smells better than tea tree. The tingle is intense but not uncomfortable. I actually like it, and I think it's working!!!!!!! Some one tells me every other day my hair has grown in a short amount of time, and when it's stretch I'm amazed!
I've started oiling my scalp and I use vanity planet shampoo brush to massage. I also have tried to start marking it a priority to deep condition with heat every washday.
I recently started the water washing method two weeks ago...and let me tell you, all praises to The Most High...my hair has never reached such a pinnacle. 1.) I take down one of my twists 2.) I then spray my hair with water (I get my scalp first then my hair), then I proceed to massage my scalp and let the natural sebum of my hair fall down the shaft, gently guiding the sebum down my hair shaft with my fingers 2.) Then I massage my scalp lightly with a castor oil/sunflower oil mix 3.) I seal it with a pinch of shea butter 4.) Retwist 5.) Repeat This has blessed me tremendously and I wasn't ready for it. Ya'll..the sebum keeps my hair detangled, any hair that needs to shed out will just shed out, and it has thickened my hair up A LOT in just a couple of weeks. I hope it will bless you too.
I remember when I was first told about rice water. I was like, no way. But honey, I can not believe how well my hair reacted to it. I had just tried another diy mask using fenugeek which while rinsing seem to have left my hair kind of tight. I followed with the rice water and instantly my hair was super soft and manageable. Even after a week later, i can still feel the difference in my hair. I am very impressed. It is must try. Who knew for $2 you could make such an awesome rinse?
One of the best tips ever is making sure my hair is well oiled while I'm taking out my protective style, my hair literally just slips out of the braids or cornrows. The other great tip that I will do every time without a second thought is washing my hair in sections! Just by doing this I have cut down breakage and detangling SO MUCH! Wash day is no longer a stressful time for me because of just these two methods I have introduced. Nappyfu thank you xxx
Once a day I flip my head upside down and massage it for 5 minutes. On Sunday I add coconut oil 1 hour before my shower and massage for 10 minutes. This method has really helped me grow my hair.
I've been using rice water for a month and I see a hugggggggge difference in my hair. it grew a lot faster than how it would without it. I used it every week. The fermentation method. Obv, it didn't grow 10 inches, but you'd see a difference so I do recommend rice water to everyone. I love it.
I transitioned from relaxed to natural in 28.January.2016 and my hair grew a lot and it is so healthy. Your video helped a lot and you r so funny. Me like you 😁
You are sooo funny! I had locks for over 10 years & cut them off to about an inch 4 years ago. My hair cuticle was damaged, especially the top of my hair. Now my hair is past my shoulders and healthy. I learned to baby my hair with the LOC method and use a satin cloth to lay on *if I wear a scarf i sweat a lot*. Every night, I moisturizer and braid my hair in medium braids, this has cut down a lot on breakage, knots and my hair stretched is easier to handle. I can actually put it in a bun without combing it. If I do twist outs, I still moisturize and braid. I use homemade cream, but I have really good over the counter shampoos & conditioners, and on and on. I pay attention to everything i put on my hair. It is a lot but I really love the condition of my hair. Ive been thinking about using rice water & tea, I'll try this - take care.
rice water=rice milk without chemicals and sugar. Toasting the rice lightly is good to do prior to soaking 24 hours. After soaking my rice , I blend it and strain the the rice flour.
I like to mix black and green tea with fresh, chopped garlic. I let it sit overnight then use it the next day. I spray it on my scalp and hair and the shedding is reduced greatly. I only do this when I have a lot of shedding. I'm looking forward to trying rice water.
Thanks for the tips NappyFu. Never heard about using rice water. The only thing I know that I do that may have helped me retain length (at BSL currently) is just putting my hair in mini twists, or mini cornrows, and leaving it alone. Also, since I tend to rock my twists and cornrows for a minimum of 4 weeks at a time - and no, I don't wash while protective styling- every time I take out my twists or braids, I'd do a DC. It's the harmattan where I am now, so hot oil treatments are more my thing until the dry weather eases out. Oh, and also keep my ends wet and thoroughly oiled with shea butter or palm kernel oil.
I incorporated Rice Water Rinse after watching Discovering Natural's video; Traci Nichol discussed green and black tea rinses - which I'm doing tomorrow - but she recommends doing a dc after...I'll do it your way since I too have 4c hair. You are so informative!
I also add teas to my rice water. Some of them are what she has on her videos of tea rinsing. They're great. Yerba mate, oolong, green tea, and others. They do a good job, and my hair still is growing after using them.
Just had a total binge watch of your channel And I have to say I will be 1, clarifying and 2, adding a tea and rice rinse. As I am super happy with where my hair is going. Now I want to grow longer than collar bone length hair and have less frizzy ends. I have hope that these are the steps I was missing for my 4c, lovely, thick ass hair! Thank you so much, xxx
I've just starting researching this and I'm very excited to try it! My plan is to commit to the rice water rinses weekly as part of my fall/winter regimen. Hoping to see results by spring...😉👍
I use fermented rice water as a leave in, I refresher 3 times a week. I have naturally very high porous hair and my hair is really thriving. I've been doing this for a month and my hair NEVER been better since I returned natural.
Keeping my hair in flat twist for half the week has definitely helped me retain length! I have been growing my hair for almost five years, but due to improper care, it looks like I've been natural for two years. I found that keeping my hair stretched helps me to manage it.
Imabok...Grace, if you didn't already have a YT channel, I'd tell you to create one. Please have Bioke make consistently regular appearances. Too funny!
I add onion to mine, along with some essential oils like rosemary, tea tree, peppermint, and lavender. Also add orange peels. Let it sit in my hair for 30 minutes, rinse and deep condition.
I started rice water rinses about 2 months ago. Due to some unforeseen circumstances the last two weeks, I have not used my rinse. How sad am I.😭 After starting rice water rinses my hair had very few tangles and knots. Today I am a sad woman, because for the last week and a half; my hair has had so many tangles and knots in it it's unbelievable. I have not seen any exceptional growth with my hair, but the simple fact that it made my hair so easy to manage. 😀😊 Trust and believe that this weekend will not pass without my rice water rinse.
Been using rice water treatment for year in half. Only once a month. For the smell I put oils in the mixture. Great video... Funny as He----. Note: I'm relaxed hair... 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I've been hearing about these rinses but haven't tried yet, except for the acv rinses. But I heard great things about rice water and tea rinses. I most definitely will be trying this.
I love it when you speak in your native accent. Lol Now, on to how I use tea rinse, I make a big batch of green/black ( store what I don't use in the refrigerator and take it out the night before), I add it before I DC then rinse. I have found this method work nicely. However, I will try it as a final (after DC) and see how that works.
I make my rice water directly in my spray bottle shake then spray into my hair. I left it in too long before and got dry hair. When used properly it softens , detangles and strengthens. 5 minutes is a good time. All things in moderation.
hmmm...tips..I have 4b/c super thick, coarse, kinky past waist length hair. Oh and very low porosity. To maintain health and length - moisture!!! LOC method couple times a week. and daily spritzing of water. Protective styling is imperative. For me that's boring braids/twists, then bunned or french braided plus threading the ends to keep them stretched. Stretched hair stops my tangles and ssk. Wash hair in braids/twists. Wash and DC twice per month. Sigh, high maintenance, hence just throwing it in boring braids 90% of the time. Finger detangling most of the time. I feel like I'm leaving something out..oh and now adding rice water to the regimen, which helps with conditioning and clumps hair together. Thanks for the heads up with the rice and tea water
I do aloe vera juice rinses on my wash days. It soothes my scalp, strengthens my hair, and allows me to retain moisture and shine. Side note: How can I get that accent, lol! I love it.
I'm newly natural - I've got a tapered twa now and I'm glad I stumbled across your vids - I'm trying the rice this weekend for sure! Also happy to see you use Virgin Hair Fertiliser as my friend recommended it and now I have double confidence it works!
Thank you for this tutorial. I have been doing the rice water and tea rinses for about two months now. My hair loves them both. I alternate them like you suggested. One week is rice, the next I will use tea. I haven't tried the green tea yet, that's coming. I especially like that my hair looks darker (more black . . . my hair minus any products, water or oil is brown) and shinier after the rice water rinse. Keep the info coming. My hair is healthy. I am being patient and consistent to reap the benefits. Be blessed!! Happy holidays!!!
Hey nappyfu! Please share the wig you are wearing!!! It looks super natural and I'd like to do protective styling for 2017 by using wigs and maybe weaves. Thank you in advance!
I do the rice water rinses, but I've never tried the tea rinse, I can't wait to try it, I'm a new subbing,I love your videos they are very informative.
This video was over 2 years ago and rice water is only just becoming a massive natural trend .. I see a new video every day. Trust nappyfu to be so ahead of the trend

staci scott I have used it consistently to say if it aids in hair growth. I've only used it sporadically. When I use it the job gets done.
NappyFu TV is it possible to do it both on the same day? so after dc i do tea rinse and rice water rinse
Petra Akoto yes ma.....but u can really just do one.
Petra Akoto if u hv time u can do both. I tried it like this b4 but felt I was doing too much.
I used Black tea and Rice water for 2 months and I got length i couldn't get for 6 months.

Gugu Mtshali Did you use rice water every once a week or once a month ?
Every week
Gugu Mtshali
definitely gonna try
Do you rinse out the shampoo or conditioner first with water before rinsing with tea or rice water?
Is that your step by step process ? I sell herbal Black, Red & Green Teas so I will definitely try this in my wash routine

No exactly, with all due respect

I love using rosemary tea rinse because it adds sheen and gets rid of dandruff if any present
Annie Frannie where do you purchase? Specific brand? Rosemary helps with dandruff & hair growth!
I use the natural bush
I usually get same in my local market in new Jersey

Simple and consistent routine
Okay, definitely will try to implement rice water rinses. God bless you!
I've been hearing about these rinses but haven't tried yet, except for the acv rinses. But I heard great things about rice water and tea rinses. I most definitely will be trying this.
Thumbs up for all the tips, but I'm especially impressed with and grateful for the scripture verse. God bless
+goldifoxxx1 😊😊😊😊 ty
I love it when you speak in your native accent. Lol
Now, on to how I use tea rinse, I make a big batch of green/black ( store what I don't use in the refrigerator and take it out the night before), I add it before I DC then rinse. I have found this method work nicely. However, I will try it as a final (after DC) and see how that works.
Girl...i like your humor...smile
I love the African voice!!
I love tea rinses. I have been using Irish moss as a final rinse. it's been amazing. so little shedding and my hair feels softer. x
Jbco on my scalp REALLY got my hair growing
I smile the entire time I watch your videos
I would marry you. You make me laugh
Thank you for the tips. I have never heard of those before.
had me rolling. thanks sis.

I love it.
Your hair looks good and Healthy.
great tips- girlll I'm busting up over here love your personality!
I'm newly natural - I've got a tapered twa now and I'm glad I stumbled across your vids - I'm trying the rice this weekend for sure! Also happy to see you use Virgin Hair Fertiliser as my friend recommended it and now I have double confidence it works!
lol I'm so glad you added not to leave it in your hair! That was my plan all along
Good Thing Come In Three. This Is The Third Video I Saw With Rice Water Rinse So I'm Going To Try It
I love when you use that accent. Its great!
Great tips..gotta incorporate these rinses into my regimen. TFS
Love my tea rines. Cause shrinkage is real as you see in photo
try boiling moringa leafs it's, it's the best thing I have ever use
Regular scalp massage using the scalp massage brush. Also I use the q-redew for moisture. Both of these help to retain length.
Happy holidays!!!
can you do a video of you using rice water to your hair ?
Love your videos, girl!!! You are on the money with that consistency tip!!!
Hey nappyfu! Please share the wig you are wearing!!! It looks super natural and I'd like to do protective styling for 2017 by using wigs and maybe weaves. Thank you in advance!
