    "sorry I can't I have to wash my hair" lol THIS is not a fake excuse rofl. I once told my boss i had to take the day off to braid my hair (make and install goddess locs actually) she was so confused why i need the WHOLE day and kept texting me saying when i was done "braiding" my hair I should come in.. I finally sent her a picture of my braiding my hair and wrapping the locs and she was SHOOKETH rofl

    Don't #1 Do not delay washing your hair. The longer you wait the more difficult it will be. Do detangle more frequently between washes. Even if its not a thorough strand by strand detangle, even a quick finger detangle will make it easier when you finally do go in thoroughly.

    • @carllouis438
      @carllouis438 6 лет назад +19

      I have 4a hair. Detangling between washes does nooot work for me at all. That would mean unclumping my curls and causing them to tangle.

    • @NinaLady11
      @NinaLady11 6 лет назад +18

      Carl Louis I don't have a defined curl pattern and my hair tends to tangle easily. I usually wear two strand twists and twist outs so whenever I retwist I do a quick finger detangle. It saves time on wash day by minimizing the amount of shed hairs.

    • @DriAA7
      @DriAA7 6 лет назад +8

      This is so necessary! If I wait too long, my hair gets matted! It takes FOREVER to detangle when it gets to that state. Never. Again.

    • @simpleeye7950
      @simpleeye7950 5 лет назад +4

      Yes! I try to finger detangle like twice a week when washing every 2 weeks. And once a week when washing weekly! It really really keeps the shed hair at bay and makes the hair easier to wash and work with.

    • @trinityasabea
      @trinityasabea 6 лет назад +9

      cerline venordhi queen. not if u use a light weight oil instead of a sealing oil. Also she just applied a little, plus the t shirt will wipe some of the oil off. I was sceptical about it at first but after trying it out I felt the difference.

    I don't deep condition. My hair grew so much from keeping it simple and wearing wigs. I pre poo with coconut oil, use shampoo and conditioner, apply Shea butter on the damp hair, and twist my hair. Next day I untwist, apply a little more Shea butter to stretch more and put my hair back in twists. Then I wear my wigs. I finger detangle like every two weeks. Bout it. My hair has thrived from being left tf alone lol. I haven't deep conditioned in years. Water and raw Shea butter and finger detangling have really helped my hair. ❤

I used to have issues with my 4c hair becoming dry right after wash day, but I no longer have that issue. If you don’t know where to start, start with this video, and her video about moisture vs. hydration. Lastly, her video about moisturizing in the middle of the week. I’m so grateful, girl! Thank you!

Sprayed my hair everyday with it, oiled my scalp 2 or 3 times a week and massaged my scalp. Then I noticed my hair was getting softer and holding moisture.

    I know this is like SOOO old. I am just coming across this video. I have watched several of your videos now, and I love them. You are very real and down to earth. Loving the Lord makes you even better for me to watch and listen. God is awesome!!!
    Anyway, here are my two cents. I don't use heat for my prepoo or for my DC. My hair is naturally VERY high porosity so it absorbs these things very well. I avoid heat because I don't risk lifting my cuticles any more than they are already raised. This is working 'for me'.
    I heard, on the Green Beauty channel, that this is OK. I was glad to hear that because it was working for me. Just thought I would share that in case it may help another high porosity Sister. My hair is also fine, however, the porosity issue seems to be my biggest challenge. Coconut oil prepoos along with protein treatments have been working wonders! I'm retaining moisture much longer.
    Thanks for your great videos. Keep up the good work!

    I have watched so many of these tutorials and appreciate all the knowledge that my wonderful black sisters are spitting. But, I found a commonality as to what is NOT being taught and that is...A LOT OF WHAT YOU PUT IN YOUR BODY CAN AFFECT HOW YOUR HAIR TURNS OUT. Drink water ladies. Moisturize from the inside will help moisturize your outside. Take a multivitamin catered to your lifestyle. I prefer organic MyLife or New Chapter brand. Vitamin E taken everyday can be your hair's best friend. Exercise is a wonderful stimulant. It gets that blood flowing which promotes healthy hair growth. AND eating fruits and veggies will do wonders no matter your diet. In conjunction with all of these wonderful tid bits to beautiful natural (or however you wear your hair), you will not only have healthier hair but also healthier skin. Much love to all of you beautiful ladies. (Cometologist/Stylist since 1993)🙏🏾❤

    I just want to say that I love your videos SO much, and have learned so much from watching your videos. Ever since I was like 8 years old, I was always at the hair salon getting perms, micro braids, sew-ins, or crochet braids. So I never EVER learned how to take care of my own hair. But I haven’t gotten a perm in over 2 years because the last perm I got destroyed my hair, so I’m fully natural now, and I feel like I’m a baby learning how to walk when it comes to my hair (pink lotion was still popular when I did my hair lol lol) Anywho, your videos have truly helped me to understand how to take care of my 4c hair, and I can’t thank you enough for your realness and honesty.

    Love your videos. I have to say everyone's hair is different. I do deep condition overnight alot and I don't usually prepoo. And I have tailbone length 4c hair. But I do a lot of what you suggest. What works best is me leaving my hair alone and making sure it is moisturized.

    My Do's ✅ prepoo the night before with grapeseed (my hair hates coconut oil - this is a great 2nd best based on my research), peppermint, jojoba, argan, castor (in the winter) and rosemary oil. ✅ Do drench my hair with water for 2-5 minutes before adding shampoo ✅ Do use a heated cap for my deep conditioners/ masque 👎 I don't use a blow dryer.👎I do not waist time with regular rinse out conditioners. I always deep condition on wash days. 🙂🙂

    a DON'T is using anything but shampoo since I switched to butter instead of an oil in my LOC. the build-up is just TOO REAL for a ACV or cowash. can I ask when should we do a protein treatment/what are some good ones? I know you previously said in another video that eggs don't have a protein small enough to penetrate the shaft. What's a good treatment then? How do you know if you are protein sensitive, as well? lol maybe I just gave you an idea for next week's video. It should be all put in 1 video, if you think about it. Thank you for this one!!!!

    • @geraldinewhite062

      I recommend doing a protein treatment 1 a month or even every other month if your hair isn't bleached. Doing intense protein treatments too often will make your hair very brittle and extremely hard.

    Excellent advice. I tried blow drying n it sucked all the moisture out of my hair. Never did it gain. Was trying to do something about the tips of my hair. My hair is great until I get to my ends. Always tangled. Have put into action your hair care advice. Been natural 4 years now. Must twist my hair every night or it can't be comb. Have been told that some people have to do this because of their hair. My hair is very tight n the longer it grows the more tangled my ends get. Can't protective style. Edges sensitive n recently grow back. No wigs, weave, just wear my fro. Really enjoy ur videos.

    • @alisonhilaire4170
      @alisonhilaire4170 6 лет назад

      I have the same problem with blow drying: my hair was super stretched but it was also a freaking desert lol. For your ends, maybe you need to trim your hair more often. My hair is very fine and tangles easily so I try to get it professionally trimmed every 6 months now. I don't do it myself anymore because I always do a terrible job lol (ends always looked worse than before the trim...). Also, maybe you can do twists as a protective style, it does not put any stress on your edges, and it's with your own hair.

    My hair loves aloe vera in products so i finally bought plain aloe juice and added it to my spray bottle. After washing i spray aloe vera on my wet hair and it smoothes the cuticles, defines curls, helps reduce frizz tangles, and balances the PH like ACV but without the smell lol I recommend aloe vera juice for all hair types as a cuticle smoothing step after a wash. Followed by your fav cream and oil

    For my prepoo. I normally spray some water on my hair, then apply coconut oil mix with castor oil, once done I would degangle my hair. This done in sections. After which I place a plastic cap over my hair overnight.
    Next day I wash my hair with a shampoo and use a deep condition. I usually leave the deep condition in for an 1 or more, placing a plastic cap over it. Then wash out.
    When its damp I normally apply a cream then my cocount oil mix with the castor oil and just twist it out in sections.
    That what I do. Please feel free to give me any advise or make any recommendations where necessary. Just recently transitioned so I am learning as I go along.
    Always a pleaure watching your channel.

      Naturally Focus I also do the same except instead of shampoo I use organic black soap because I don't trust the ingredients of the more affordable shampoos in our country (I live in Kenya), so black soap works well for me. I'm wondering, have you tried acv? If so, where in your routine?

    Is it selfish of me to want more videos per week. I feel like the best RUclips-ers don't upload as frequent, but the not so great ones put out "content" multiple times a week. I recently realized for my low porosity hair it's best to let the water evaporate before adding my leave-in to my hair. I tried the not putting oil on scalp and that was a disaster.

    I have extremely dry hair so I do a hot oil treatment every time I use shampoo (once a month) most of the time I co wash my hair which might be 1-2 times a month depending on what my event calendar looks like. Crotchet braids have been my saving grace for protective styling. Its easier to keep my scalp moisturized when its braided down. I just bought a scalp massaging shampoo brush which I'm excited to try in the new year. I definitely need to prepoo more often I haven't done it in a while.

    Great Video! Thank you!
    Dos:
    1 Pre-Detangle the day before (Steam or a spray with water & glycerin. Braid it up. The next day, I hide under a hat until I am ready to wash, praying I don't run into somebody fine.)
    2. Cleanse- a sulfate free shampoo weekly and a co-wash in the middle of the week (Sorry Sis. :( I have a job that sometimes requires me to walk into nasty situations. Hair gotta stay fresh and clean).
    3. Deep Condition w/heat and follow with another detangle. Fingers only.
    4. Apply leave-in, let it dry ( Hair is a diva and she hates styling on wet or greasy hair.)
    5. Style-Stretched such as braids, twists or some kind of roller set.
    Don'ts
    1. Don't forget to do any of the above. The Result- A Tangled mess during cleansing, lots of hair and tears in the hair trapper, smelly, dirty, dry hair during the week, breakage and set backs.
    Also no shampoos with sulfates, conditioners as shampoo, or hair styles like wash and gos. Even what I use on my hair during the season (lighter products in Summer, etc.) and what I chose to condition or style my hair with makes a difference ( Shea butter must the 5th ingredient or lower on the ingredients food chain because we are not friends, just co-workers).No detangling on wet hair UNLESS I do it post-Deep condition because my hair is now pliable and will give a bit.
