@Amman Junaid No, he said indeed 'they wouldn't have steered the ship as well as you have. That's a wonderful seltene showing their genuinen friendship.
This the true meaning of true friendship, they've been more than 20yrs from being friends. Humble band, knows how to respect each other, respect they're fans. Thats the real meaning of a Legend
This kind of long lasting friendship in a band with four equal members also exists in Queen. It's very rare that 4 people manage to stay together for such a long time while working creatively, because that naturally causes controversy. But when they manage to do it, the result is all the better because it had to go through the band's process.
It does take special people to share like that in a band. Imagine these Scenarios in a band of four people 1- one or two guys are the most creative and come up with most of the ideas & songs, they have to be strong enough to share with the others who don’t create 2- the singer attracts most of the media attention, the others have to be strong enough to accept that 3- the pressure from friends, family, managers and so on who tell the creative folks that they re missing out sharing with the others who don’t contribute the same. It really takes special people to be that accepting. Not a huge fane but they have my Respect
Billy Corgan said that Smashing Pumpkins fell apart because he made it all about himself- not sharing song credit with other members and being the center of interviews. Good to see that Coldplay didn't go similar direction
Splitting the money evenly is very generous. Songwriting is arguably the single most important thing that influences the success of any band, so contribution vs. compensation is often a huge issue that bands struggle to negotiate.
I remember buying their first record over 20 years ago ...I worked in a factory making door liners and on my breaks I'd smoke weed and listen to yellow ...lol
Coloratura é uma música divina. Simplesmente maravilhosa, e a emoção que eles colocam.nela é incrível.Esse é o melhor do Coldplay, quando eles colocam sentimento na música ❤️
I know they sold out, and i don't really care for their new, stadium friendly stuff, but I'll always love coldplay. First 3 albums were integral to my growing up.
Watch his interviews, he said he likes to grow and experiment, :) there’s no way he could be stuck in a box as an indie/rock artist. I love and prefer their early stuff too but you have to come along and support them in everything . Their new albums are fun and still better than generic pop music. Plus you missed out on their recent concert, best ever so much good energy! Almost flew out to another city to see them but I have a baby now haha
They changed that after the X&Y era when the band was going through a rough patch and Phil also left them and when he got back during the VIVA LA VIDA era they decided to set a number of rules and one of them being sharing credit and money equally.
@slab6046 The 40-20-20-20 was for the musical credit. Everything else was 20-20-20-20. But after X&Y they changed it and it is now 20% for each member and each part of the production.
I thought Chris Martian didn’t split the publishing or some shit because he wrote the songs. Didn’t he say that in previous Howard interview or am I wrong?
Because it’s easier to lay a drum beat, bassline, guitar lick, on top of an already structured & composed song. Usually the song writer takes a bigger share. Rightfully so TYPICALLY.
@@realnamerodney Exactly. And many people don't know that often the arrangement is done by the producer. And studio musicians often contribute key parts. Many successful bands usually have one creator. The Beatles had three of the best.
It isn't. You're talking about what Chris said almost 10 years ago in an other interview with H.S (ruclips.net/video/Ef6mujHmoyc/видео.html). It was a long time ago, they just changed this process.
It's such a shame. They were so epic - every album a winner, and then came 2019 and they totally lost it. The album of that year was total shit and this new one is total shit. I'm so disappointed. Luckily there are some good bands around to take their place. If you think this is just my opinion, go check out the sales numbers on wikipedia.

I love that line "they wouldn't have steered the ship as well as you have." So much love between them still over 20 years later.
I thought he said "stayed on the ship"
@Amman Junaid No, he said indeed 'they wouldn't have steered the ship as well as you have. That's a wonderful seltene showing their genuinen friendship.
I love the way he worded that. It must mean a lot to Chris and just their journey together as a band.
This the true meaning of true friendship, they've been more than 20yrs from being friends. Humble band, knows how to respect each other, respect they're fans. Thats the real meaning of a Legend
You can tell these guys still genuinely like each other after all this time.
They are all so sweet and gentle and soft-spoken ✨
“They wouldn’t have steered the ship as well as you have” that’s an amazing quote
Great, humble band.

So good to hear them so happy and relaxed. So at home with each other

It's a shame that Don Henley & Glen Frey from The Eagles didn't have the same philosophy, their greed divided that band.
"Everything is possible if you just..... share." 😂
famous quote by President Not Sure
That got me as well😂😂😂
Everything is possible if the frontman decides not to push everyone else out of the spotlight. It's a rare thing that they've got.
This is how I share: what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine 🤣
Excellence and humility combined, it's a beautiful thing 😊
I love the chemistry between all of them
Although I can't speak English and I don't know what they were talking about, but when they were smiling, I smile. Music is so magically universal.
Your English writing is good though. But maybe you meant the accent is hard to understand, and I kinda agree with that.
It is nice to see that there is such a high amount of trust within this group ! 👍👍
This is why I love them so much
Chris Martin has really gone up in my estimation for the sharing credit and income.
Too many bands split because of jealousy and money.
Especially when they are making too much money to have to worry about it. Ego gets in the way for some, and it ruins their relationships.
I read somewhere that 10% of what they made as a band went to charity
*Amazing*
"Love Spreads" by Stone Roses is one of my favorite guitar heavy songs of all time. It got a fair amount of airplay here in the States.
Sally Cinnamon as well - so simple but so good.
They made loads of great songs.
Love them, their music, and them as individuals. Great people, they deserved their success.
chris' voice is so angelic

This is a great interview so far😊
I’m literally watching this before I drop my sister to her halls at UCL! Wow.
This was UCL (University College London) and, intriguingly, none of them were studying music....

Can't wait for Legs Akimbo
We need the full interview! Howwwww
Yes I wish someone would find and post it
Ikr, nobody is subscribing to “satellite radio” in 2021. Cmon Howie!
Best band ever
You are amazing Coldplay 😄💙💙💙💙
That college and their students are obviously pretty remarkable!
big up University College London
Hella humble folk
I think U2 have the same philosophy - it's why they're still together decades later.
The best band in the world
“You have a good choice of chrises”😂
They oozzzeee bliss...
when coldplay was in uni it was a thriving band music scene, it was an amazing time, all perfect timing. try find a decent member now lol
When you like lyrics that are so abstract you have no idea what the song is about just put on Coldplay.
😂
Love from Indonesia ❤❤
Howards old band The Losers were great LOL. He was a decent keyboard player lol. Good times, best years.
And sharing is why they're still together
Just like Rush equal partnership, no drama no BS!

These 3 other guys got a never ending winning lotto scratch off ticket named Chris Martin. Must have done good deeds in past life lol
I wish Howard asked him to expand on sharing the credit.
Record label/publishing advances.
@@craigadamjohnston8783 I know what he meant. It's just that not every song writer shares his royalties.

Those sneakers are awesome !
Those 3 chaps are very lucky to be in a band with Chris Martin.
Awesome group ❣️
If you have not, listen to The Stone Roses first album. It is mindblowing!!
What's it called the album
The second is great too.
Their legendary debut album is self- titled
it really is a great story.
I’m in UK so not really sure , where do I get the full episode of this?
They are bright , that’s why. I mean, UCL is not easy to get in!
In the past they said chris took 40% of the income and the others 60%? When did they change this?
They changed that after the X&Y era when the band was going through a rough patch and Phil also left them and when he got back during the VIVA LA VIDA era they decided to set a number of rules and one of them being sharing credit and money equally.
English. ❤️
Does anyone know what stone roses song he was playing??
The other chris 's wouldn't have steered the ship as well as you have
Where can I see the full interview?
Will is so cute holding the mic.
❤❤❤
Wow if only another Manchester band could have the same respect for each other… lol
Probably applies to a lot of them: The Smiths, Oasis, New Order,....
1:40 😂😂😂😂😂😂 damn
Thats odd because Chris Martin was on an older Howard Stern and said he kept 40% of the money because he writes the music.
@slab6046
The 40-20-20-20 was for the musical credit. Everything else was 20-20-20-20. But after X&Y they changed it and it is now 20% for each member and each part of the production.
If the chances are a billion to one, there would only be 7 or 8 successful musicians.
Follow your dreams!!!
Did stern talk about covid at some point in this interview?
I thought Chris Martian didn’t split the publishing or some shit because he wrote the songs. Didn’t he say that in previous Howard interview or am I wrong?
🍋🍋🍋 One Love
I remember Chris saying in the last stern interview that they split the money 40%,20%,20%,20%
That’s the sequence for the music credits . Everything else is equal (touring, performances , etc )
They changed it again Chris felt odd about it
@@izikgarza1068 Most of the money is in credits
that's for songwriting only since he writes more, the rest is distributed evenly

Wow, 8 Chrises.
Coldplay's first two albums are brilliant.
After that.......

Nice. Classy. Respectful. What a change in 2021 world surrounded by assholes.

They copied a lot from u2 this is why they’ve both been successful fir so long
Bullshit. Last interview he said it was a 40 20 20 20 split.
Pretentious, moi?
how is 40 - 20 - 20 - 20 splitting the money evenly?!

Chris Martin quits and the band is over
Surprised he hasn't gone solo but he probably loves these guys tbh
Not necessarily
If any of them quit it’s over, not just Chris
100% do not believe that Chris Martin makes the exact same amount of money as the other 3 guys.
He gets 40%.

the 2019 album was their most critically acclaimed in years and the new one is shaping up to be a commercial comeback, they're hardly losing 🤣
I think they knew that everyday life wasn’t gonna be sold well. They’re just doing something they wanna do, trying something that haven’t done before
They went to shit before that unfortunately.
Why is HStern so amazed that 4 average musicians came out of the same college?
Average? 😂😂
Average musicians maybe, but VERY successful songwriters and performers, that is rare
