I don’t think fans were talking about signing a proven prem striker but signing a proven number 9 from abroad. Alex Sorloth, Tom Chory and Tammy Abraham all interested in Prem return and all moved late in the window.

Southampton were there for the taking. I couldn't help feeling that if we come away with nothing against an obviously nervy team who look pretty poor, then we are going to struggle this season no matter how decent we look. It was a must win for them and a must not lose for us.
