- The past two years were very difficult for me since I have started architecture school and I have been essentially on the verge of failing the course. But I wanted to share with you some of the mistakes and lessons that I have learnt in these past two years so that if you are planning to study architecture yourself, you will be aware of some of the mistakes you should avoid doing.

I used to teach at the AA in diploma school. One piece of advice i will give you is architecture isnt about building. Architecture is about ideas in built form. If its just built form without ideas then you will find it difficult to get through school. It is what most tutors are looking for. The simpler the idea, the easier it is to push into architecture. It id useful to learn the basics of architural design. Read Frank Chings form space and order to get the basics of traditional design. Then just add your ideas about the world. You got in so head down and do the work. Have fun.
Thank you very much for your advice I appreciate it
Nice tips 👍& don't give up.
Thanks man😂
This video was super useful, especially the tips towards the end. It would have been a lot easier not to make this video so thank you for potentially helping a lot of people.
Definitely leave the theorising for the journal and let your hands do the work on the page.
I have a question: What is one example of when you should have contacted the tutor but you didn't and regretted it later?
Ps your English is a lot better now (except from the thumbnail lol)
Omg I didn’t even realise about the thumbnail💀💀thank you for that😂. Definitely towards the end of the year in year 1. I was struggling to make my floor plan work, and I kept on seeing my tutor once a week. I regret not having updated her with my drawings as I was doing them. My other peers contacted her frequently to ask any sorts of questions about their design, and they ended up with really good projects at the end. And also I regret not having contacted my head of year as he ended up helping me a lot during the summer when I was retaking my design module, and if he knew before that I was struggling he could have helped me from earlier, and most likely I could have passed my module.
