I came from the 70's when the original Vanishing Point was first shown at the Drive-in Theaters across the Country it was usually Played with either Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry or Two Lane Blacktop..
5 years wow! Times have changed on this as well as this 12 year old post. All must see movies as well as a few others. Never knew they did a remake of Vanishing Point. Wonder if it is at least as good or better? Real drive-ins, YES! When people went somewhere and hug out with friends or family in real time and with a free socializing experience without out a modern times dumb down phone welded in one hand alone in a corner as a different way of feeling connected.
I'm glad of the fact this movie was remaid, Thank God it wasn't a goofy movie, Mopar wise, it was great, but the original Vanishing Point from 1971 still rocks to this day, hands down!!! Mopar Nate Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

5/16/23 ok ! I've never seen the Remake (97') but I thought the driver looked like Viggo Mortensen so I had to Wiki it ( Wikipedia) and Yep ! He is the Driver !!
I know where three of these Vanishing Point Challengers are, right now. They're at the Muscle Car museum in Sevierville TN. I've heard that one of the original Vanishing Point Challengers is roaming around some where. I liked the original better.
Rumor is Quentin Tarantino has the original car in Mexico he swapped it during the filming of Planet Terror with a clone car that was destroyed in the movie and scrapped before they could confirm which car it was
@@79huddy Chrysler leased the 5 Challengers to the movie then took them all back and crushed them. They did not like the fact that the druggie bad guy was the hero because of the Challenger and wanted to "right a wrong" by destroying the evidence so to speak. The movie left a bad taste in Chrysler exec's mouth so he rinsed his mouth out. I have herd many stories of "one of the original VP Challengers" being owned by this guy or that guy but seeing that none of the real cars had VIN's and there is or never was any paperwork from the original transaction to prove anything other than what history states, I doubt any of these "REAL" cars are anything more than 1970 Alpine White Dodge Challenger R/T's. Movie cars were for the most part just beat up cars back then that ended up in junk yards or back with the factory and nobody recognized them as having collector value until many years later when all this insane collector car crap started to take off. That ruined a truly great hobby that I gave up long ago. And that is also the main reason there are probably 50 "REAL VANISHING POINT CHALLENGERS" out there now. If you need a good laugh research the Bonnie and Clyde death car and see how many documented "THE REAL BONNIE AND CLYDE DEATH CAR(S)" there are out there now. Its all about greed.
One of the remake cars belongs to Stephen's that owns the Mopar Salvage yard in Alabama. He sowed it one of our Music City Mopar Club meetings when we had ca shows at Pinkerton Parkin in Franklin, TN.
My mother put her hand over my eyes when the nude lady on the bike showed up I went to the movie again and saw it anyway. My Mother tried to protect me it was a fail.
Good Catch! My Dad was in IATSE with the job of making sure that never happened. When they film outside of Ca they get less skilled people that are not in the union .
@@dwc4343 You must be wrong we all saw the naked lady in the first movie. She was a local from Malibu and had never done that kind of scene before She was a friend of my Mothers.
Video is great. Music ruined it. Thumbs down for the sucky music. Shoulda just let it play out with the original soundtrack with the awesome Mopar engine music.
Bad movie to say the least, compared to the first original. Driving and eating an apple.... That's great. Eat an apple is the perfect thing to do when a dozen state highway police are after you. Cool Charger.
It’s disappointing to see a “Vanishing Point” title only to realize it’s the “remake” or “retelling” or whatever version. Never saw it and have no interest in it.

Great driving by Carey Loftin in the original.
The background music spoils the moment. I so wanted to hear those v8 engines
Possibly one of the best real music videos I've seen in a long time
ever seen this, it's pretty good.
"Ever?" Really? It’s "never." This fad needs to go away.

Did you know Vigo used to race cars and loved the power and handling of the Hemi Chagllenger.
This is the remake , came out early in the first decade with Viggo Mortenson , rare , just as good as the original , ( I watched both many times ) .
The remake is an abomination. You should watch some more movies before you comment on them.

Maybe from the remake but none of the originals all crushed
