      my 2cents : you could have rolled the dice first and on a paper wrote down all the key changes you rolled , would have been easier

      where can we get those dice

    • @Bankai2169
      @Bankai2169 6 лет назад +12

      Reneiloé, I disagree, that would've given them time to prepare for each key change. This helps your brain think on the fly and know how each chord works in each key at a moment's notice. Trust me, it's a VERY important skill to have...

  • @toomdog
    @toomdog 6 лет назад +329

    I just have to say as a drummer, I would have no trouble jamming along through any of your key changes

    • @simongiavaras7787
      @simongiavaras7787 6 лет назад +5

      toomdog but polyrhythm is pitch! If they had also been changing tempo at random that would have been crazy

    • @tomvesely4008
      @tomvesely4008 5 лет назад

      If they were stopping constantly? I'm not a drummer, though, It might be easier than it seems to be.

    PRO TIP: Make sure the bass and piano are in the SAME KEY

  • @NotRightMusic
    @NotRightMusic 6 лет назад +348

    The John Cage approach: throw the dice onto the piano strings and Aimee continues to play while Adam reads words from the I Ching book from the pages that correspond to the numbers thrown.

    More games:
    * Roll two dice and build a chord with them, adding any notes you want; repeat.
    * Roll four dice and build a melody with those notes, in any order. You may previously decide on a scale and eliminate any notes which are not on the scale; in that case, keep rolling until you have four notes. Improvise a song with that melody.
    * “The diminishing scale”! Pick a song and start playing it. Roll one die. Keep playing the song, but do not play the note on the die. :) Roll again, do not play those two notes… :) and so on!
    * When doing four-part harmonization: for each bar in the melody roll a die. Write down the note that came out; this will have to be played (or sung) by one of the other three voices in the first beat of that bar. After you have rolled a die for each of the bars, do the harmonization (and good luck!).
    I want those dice… and the skills that go with using them!!! :P
