- Adam Neely hurts my brain! He comes over to my house with his crazy musician dice and chaos ensues as we try to keep up with the Gods of Music Theory and CHANCE.

so much fun, Aimee!
Adam Neely impressive!
my 2cents : you could have rolled the dice first and on a paper wrote down all the key changes you rolled , would have been easier
what's your main instrument adam?
where can we get those dice
Reneiloé, I disagree, that would've given them time to prepare for each key change. This helps your brain think on the fly and know how each chord works in each key at a moment's notice. Trust me, it's a VERY important skill to have...
I just have to say as a drummer, I would have no trouble jamming along through any of your key changes
toomdog but polyrhythm is pitch! If they had also been changing tempo at random that would have been crazy
If they were stopping constantly? I'm not a drummer, though, It might be easier than it seems to be.
Just put some tempo changes and time signature changes and I think you will be good
toomdog Am I the only person to get the joke here? Must be a drummer thing 😉
PRO TIP: Make sure the bass and piano are in the SAME KEY
TheEighthAct lol
I love thiiiiis suahuahsuaahauha
And tuned.
Sick reference
this comment is so underrated.
The John Cage approach: throw the dice onto the piano strings and Aimee continues to play while Adam reads words from the I Ching book from the pages that correspond to the numbers thrown.
... for 13 days straight.
Only if the dice rolled 13 times in reaching the final numbers.
@NotRightMusic: You, Sir, are brilliant!
I would listen to that video all the way through
Honsetly, I'm all for breaking the rules on occasion, but is this even d&d at this point?
Honestly the funniest comment
haha :D you're funny
You need another dice... for time signature. Spice this up with some surprise 7/4 and 23/16
oh yes a dice for the top number and a dice for the bottom number, so cool idea
you could probs just use normal dice, maybe 10 sided or more
This is so wholesome you are both cinnamon rolls
Cinnamon rolls are GOOD!
Giant Steps for the next time guys!
gollum9 oh sheesh! Lol that will give your mind a spin
Oh noooo... yes!
This crossover has seriously distorted my perception of reality
My two favorite teachers making a video together? Clear my schedule!
Haha same, I thought I was dreaming when I saw this in my sub box.
I came here to say this too!
Yep.. exactly what I was thinking.. Listening to either of them make me want to give up because I'll never be 1% as good as either of them, but I love to listen!
I want to be this good of a musician. Like play anything in any key on the go.
That's the ultimate dream 😍
do it! do it!
Its hard
You know what to do already. Train hard for 3 years until you go bald, right? :)
I'm getting closer to that. I feel like when you get there, you will have transcended a great barrier in music.
I love a good crossover episode.
Pizaz0 maybe have Beato roll the dice on Skype while you play :)
Adam Neely's evil twin with hair
pfffff obviously
Captain Obvious, and a 5-string. 😈
The Neely/Nolte collab needs to happen again! Entertaining stuff, y'all.
Two of my (youtube) favourites in one place, special. Make an album.
More games:
* Roll two dice and build a chord with them, adding any notes you want; repeat.
* Roll four dice and build a melody with those notes, in any order. You may previously decide on a scale and eliminate any notes which are not on the scale; in that case, keep rolling until you have four notes. Improvise a song with that melody.
* “The diminishing scale”! Pick a song and start playing it. Roll one die. Keep playing the song, but do not play the note on the die. :) Roll again, do not play those two notes… :) and so on!
* When doing four-part harmonization: for each bar in the melody roll a die. Write down the note that came out; this will have to be played (or sung) by one of the other three voices in the first beat of that bar. After you have rolled a die for each of the bars, do the harmonization (and good luck!).
I want those dice… and the skills that go with using them!!! :P
Ooh, neat. Thanks dude!
He went to NAMM, and I was like, "Hey! Adam is in California. He should do a calibration with Aimee. I bet he's going to." AND THEY DID!
AN and AN 😉
Azi Crawford what AN amazing duo 😉
Adam Nolte And Aimee Neely
Mind blown
i do that all the time when I am singing! The problem is nobody is casting dice ;)
I would imagine Ben Levin throwing like 5 of those at a time and this would make chords for him :D
Could somebody inform Rick that we have found a perfect format for youtube video. Musicians in pain!
"Hold on... I need to remember how to play... anything?!" - Well said Sir. We all know that moment...
Those are some sadistic dice! I see them in my future with lots of dust on them
The fact that you aren't nailing it makes me feel soo much better
This video is uncut, unedited. Just different camera angles...but we wanted to keep it very real. No shame in the struggle. 👊🏼
Musical brain power is off the chart. Good job. I played along on my keyboard sitting in front of my computer, not as good, but did ok on the A-Train. I also know Girl From Ipanema so I did ok on that one.
Wheres the lick
Jyry Halonen this is the comment that broke me at 4 am
*Plays Giant Steps on a recorder*
@@jyryhalonen4990 Zac Zinger: *hold my shakuhachi*
I love the underlying message they are sending in a fun way that its good to learn to play everything in other keys.
So awesome to see you two work together!!!
I could’ve watched that happen all day! Thanks to you and Adam for another great video.
It looks like you both were having fun. Enjoyed it!
This was a total surprise and a total delight. Two of the most charismatic music professionals on RUclips together... I really enjoyed this video thank you.
I like this it shows that musicians i really look up to can make mistakes too and still be cool
That. Was. Insane. I knew when you announced you were going to have Adam over it was going to be good, but who could have expected this craziness? Top shelf stuff.
Dude. This is so much fun to watch and I actually lol’d.
What a great mashup of two of my absolute favourites. You should see if you can get Rick Beato and I can just watch one channel.
Thomas Belknap, I’d be happy to see Adam and Aimee watching an episode of Rick
Really enjoyed this.
Yay! Two of my favorite youtubers in one video
Thank you for having some fun with Adam. He's so serious all the time! :D Great collab!
Top Shelf stuff Aimee! Very Cool!
Mad props to both! This is the kind of facility that all musicians should aspire to, I have a long way to go!
You two are awesome!
My two favorite on RUclips!!! Yeah I am so happy to see you play together!
Love to hear you and Adam doing requests.....nice duo...
I really love to see, and hear, great musicians who are flexible and adaptable in their playing. Great video!
Ohhhh you did it!!! So excited to have you both in the same video.
Love you both. And the A Train performance was amazing.
Missed this somehow when it first dropped but that was gangs of fun--and MUCH respect to you both! I was sweating every time those darn things rolled.

All we need is Rick Beato
You guys are fascinating me! Excellent stuff! Thank you!!
You're courageous to try these! Great job.
3:05 Dam you know it's getting tough when you see Adam's wheels spinning to figure out the first cord
It was enjoyable seeing you two actually struggle a little, you're both so well accomplished. Very fun to watch. Of course it's also very impressive how you can switch keys at almost the drop of a hat.
this is really fun!!! hope you can do more of this. great job!!! =)
This is so cool!
So impressed. Awesome
Looks like fun. This was really great.
What a great way to do challenging exercises for practice... or even for writing a really weird but potentially amazeballs song. This was great you guys. Thanks for sharing. Simply fun and enjoyable to watch.
A collaboration of my two favorite youtubers!
Y'all made me laugh out LOUD with this game. I love it! What talent
Oh, you swing hard Aimee! Very nice playing both of you!
The bridge on A-train started to throw me off, difficult not to hear I instead of IV. This was amazing. The All-star jam exercise. Wonderful surprise video, didn't know you guys knew each other,,,yay!
Ok, I have to admit: this was A LOT more fun and interesting to watch than I expected.
Awesome video!
Having fun BECAUSE of pain! Sounds looney. But so important in all aspects of life. Conquering the seemingly impossible is the reason we stay satisfied with life.
Thanks Heaps from your amateur philosopher in Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺
I love seeing Aimee give Adam a run for his money with the key changes! They're both very respectable in their own right; would be great to see more of them together.
Wow , Great job 👍👍👍
Ooo Adam "BASSSS" Neely with Aimee Nolte! Never have I clicked on a vid to quickly! :D
You guys got me into learning Jazz!
So my new student teacher is watching with me. She'd take to to the next level and if you mess up, you take a shot! We both gotta get the dice tho! Thanks, Aimee and Adam!
John Resciniti hahahaha
That's wonderful idea 😂
Wow ! - amazing skills
This is the best Piano talking, teaching and etc. channel!
Captivating performance!
This video is so great, you can see them kind of getting in the groove as they go on by A train they’re groovin
I love when a musician physically reacts to a sweet moment when playing. Love it even more when i agree and react at the same time.
Wow, such a hard game- well done guys!
Haha, this is so great. Smiled so much it almost started to hurt.
Wow.. this is awesome!! Inspired to get a lot better!
A bit of close micing and DI for Adam... I laughed alot.. well done guys loved it!
Wow! The toss of the “Dice” = 2 Great Musicians!!! How Fun!
"the struggle is real!" lol. great fun! :)

G. K. Chesterton said that anything worth doing is worth doing badly.
Fantastic !!!!!!!!
wow. I'm impressed.
Ah! The perfect duo!
Delightful. Sent it to my just-married nephew.
YES MY TWO FAVORITE CHANNELS
This was great fun! Awesome exercise got to try :)
First Rick Beato, now Neely. Aimee sure makes good choices with her guests.
And it's so charming how humble they both are, openly messing up and having a laugh. Good stuff!
Ah! I've been waiting for you two to get together!
I could watch this for days...
Awesome!!
