Maximillian FoxI like how the voices and the instruments (mostly the horns) are kinda the two combatants, they even seem to be trading blows from 2:05 to 2:15. They are really recreating a battle between to opponents with only music.
Lemming Bot Like a lot of the parts in Star Wars, this theme is a dualism and battle of two sides. Just like you said. Although I associate this more with the actual rise of the sith.
Thee Epmek So could this song possibly be how the prequels were intended to be seen? A quiet beginning, but you know there's something more going on too until it reaches a dark, dramatic, and bloody turmoil filled conclusion. Intention and execution might not have matched up in the end, but still.
***** Yes, to some extent. The real story of Star Wars turned out to be Anakins fall from grace and the rise and defeat of the empire/siths. This song embodies the duel of the primeval dualisms, and its victor. In my opinion that is =)
Thee Epmek i agree, but they though, i guess, they had to start at the VERY beginning, which, in my humble opinion, was way too slow and painful a grind
I'm just imagining what George Lucas must have felt when he heard this for the first time in the late 90s. This makes you feel the Force, the malice coursing through Maul's veins like a firestorm, and the struggle of the two valiant men barely able to keep him at bay. The change, especially at 2:12, is like a huge camera swing through the arc of destiny. You just feel almost drunk hearing this, it's just pure drama, marvellous stuff.
Well, he's the one with imagination. Of course, he whos requested John to makes the theme feels majestic duel of fates, action pumping, infinite climatic. Its not likes he has to wait which to choose and which to listen in the first place. Its already have been ordered to. Not wait for a dozen of pieces to try to compares and listen. :/
The best part I think from a musical perspective is the construction and deconstruction of the piece. The first time it get's reconstructed, an oboe solo comes with a bassoon counter melody of the theme, then it rapidly builds upon itself with the rest of the orchestra adding tons of intensity. Then the dissonant key change at 3:40 just sets up a crumble after an unestablished triplet measure for the second reconstruction. There is a lot more going on but it's just a fantastic progression that can tell a story within itself.

3:41 The moment Obi-Wan leaps
Max Gibson don’t do it.....
I HAVE THE HIGH GROUND
You underestimate my power
Nahh its the moment All three are staring at each other
I would’ve gave EVERYTHING to witness this Orchestra live! I would’ve had goosebumps the entire time...😂😂😂😂
1:40 when I see a fly coming towards my face
The tears in my eyes from laughing at this...thank you! 🤣🤣
The Darth Maul fight was probably the biggest highlight of that trilogy.
Bubbubob145 the first time Yoda stops talking shit and grabs his light saber was my favorite of the entire trilogy
Episode 3 was full of Star wars Higlihts. Anakin vs Doku, Yoda vs Sidius, Obi Wan vs Anakin, + Grievous. + Mace Windu vs Palpatine. + Order 66,
Over rated. Anakin's- Obi wan's final fight is best in the trilogy.
@@2jsanc681 it had emotional weight but it was a bit over the top. Loved that battle too but Duel of the fates was an exhibition. An exhibition of perfect choreography.
oxcycontin the last anakin fight was trash. Theyre just spinning their sabers too much for no reason. Darthmaul was the best fight ever the next one is yoda vs dooku because it was the first time we have seen yoda fight and was fast af

Me when I'm trying to use the force:
So when you try to use the force people start singing?
No the conductor was making weird hand gestures at that time so I decided to joke about it
@@ammonalldredge3495 "Weird?"
That's conducting for you.
Why are you so down, go up you made my day!
Dude I laughed so hard when I saw this comment. Haha 😂 I felt that when I saw him do that too me trying to use the force
The conductor had better choreography than Rey and Ben fighting snokes guards
Good one.
Thats a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
Thats because hes a master. The council gave him the rank i heard long ago.
god. dont remind me of that horrendous scene lmao
She should've taken his hand. Would've been much more interesting.
The force is strong with this orchestra.

“Corn on...the cob! Corn on...the corn cob!!”
Welp, it's ruined.
XD
Lmfao you completely ruined this for me now
🤣🤣
Lmao legend
And to think John W. did not want the chores and thank George for keeping it.
You have my attention, care to explain I’m very interested
What happened?
?
@@CT-5736-Bladez
Simple. J.W didn't want choir... George demanded choir.
The french horns absolutely killed this!!!
Yes they did and it is so adrenaline rushing when they do it justice.
0:57 Bill Gates playing the violin haha
I came here to post this lol
+Música Sin Límites R & A Productions every nerd with glasses and a bad haircut looks like Bill gates.
I thought the exact same thing
how about trump 0:50 lol
+Alimgs1 wait I juste saw Bernie at trump's side! da fuck!
3:05 the conductor just got the force
This piece of music can make any fight scene epic... imagine your parents having a blazing row with this accompaniment!
That feeling you get after the final few notes and you look over to the conductor and he is smiling and you know have nailed it! oh! can't beat it!

Mega Respekt an euch, besser gehts nicht.
By GOD, that is a song divinely inspired and put together. It is truly an achievement of Man. I've listened to this song a million times, but still get the shivers when I watch it live like this. John Williams is a true wonder for creating all this incredible music.
3:08. That is just an incredible moment. It's hard to describe just how epic this moment is, but if you get it, you get it. I don't need to explain it to you.
@@sneezydeezymcdeluxe7015Those orchestral hits with the maddening piano arpeggio, all growing, coming together with the chorus. Completely epic. Just watched this all again.
2:56 - the most chilling guy I've ever seen)
He's percussionist so if he makes mistakes it would be way more noticeable than say,1 violin guy playing a single note wrong so he needs to focus lol.
Andrew and The Art of Piano, haha 😂 do you hear about humor? Look in the dictionary for the letter “H”😂
@@al4em270 Sorry lol I thought you weren't joking

The best orchestral version of Duel of the Fates. I didn't see better on yt.
The Conductor is actually fighting the Duel Of Fates !
Me as a child practice lightsaber combat
2:48
No I big bad
Me as an adult
@@raviolios2402 You have done well...
Even today I practice it with my brother, since you can't hold it on the saber part because it melts you, the combatt is really different from a normal sword fight

The conductor is in his own heaven with how hard hes jamming
3:07 best part
ned snow so true
Fucking threw his back out for that one

What I love about star wars is songs like this that will never be lost to time, this was posted 9 years ago and I’m still seeing people comment from 2020. Love you all
2021 coming on 2022
2022 now i revisit this every year or so haha
Imma be the 2023 guy🎉loove the prequels
this is very uniquely made.
say what you want about episode 1, duel of fates is one of the most epic pieces of music that will ever exist :)
And it has the best Lightsaber fight of all movies!
*****
Wasn't Ani vs Obi in episode 3 longer?
Dontpushthebbutton maybe, but there was way less actual fighting in that one
Yep
4:16 is so beautiful the whole orchestra is beautiful but this part I love
