Enjoy the delicious chicken rice at Mom's Traditional Village Chicken Rice @ Big Brother Cafe, Jalan 1/10, Seksyen 1, 46000 Petaling Jaya, Selangor. goo.gl/maps/HVWbJ2Fd6eavW1hw5 Chicken rice is a dish that every Malaysian and Singaporean grew up eating every day, anywhere. Here's how this humble professor retired to carry on his mom's 50-year-old Hainanese Chicken Rice recipe out of passion. Enjoy! 😁
Bought half chicken from this place on Monday. It's just fantastic. The rice is fragrantly soft. The rice is well cooked. The soup is nutritional with tomatoes, potatoes and carrot but a reduction of salt would make this soup excellent. As an ardent chicken rice lover, this chicken rice is the Best I've ever had. Travelling 8km for this chicken rice is worth it. I'm a very satisfied customer who will regularly patronize this place again.
Oh wow that's great to hear, Macbeth! Really appreciate your support for uncle's chicken rice as he really put his heart and soul into making his mom's recipe. I'll tell him about your feedback. I'm sure he'll be happy to hear that and thank you for supporting local hawker businesses too 🥰 Haha 8km! 🔥 Where from?
We are Singaporean Hainanese family, I'm also in the process of learning my mom's recipes, chicken rice is one, there is also the "Hainanese Braised Pork Belly" (海南扣肉) which is a favorite in the extended family. Hope to be able to travel up to Big Brother Cafe one day to try it myself. Thanks for sharing and my regards to the good man above, please stay safe and healthy long long long.
Hi neighbour 😊 haha thanks for sharing your background. Mom's recipes are so precious and priceless. You're welcome and hope you enjoyed watching the video haha
In Australia, the locals are crazy about this dish 😍 The chicken is so tender and the sauce is amazing. I'm sure they tweak the flavor to suit the locals. The authentic chicken rice from the Malaysians and Singaporeans uncles are the best of the best. I want to visit these countries soon to have it. Thanks for making this video, Streats TV!
Oh wow! Thank you for sharing, Summer! I've been to Australia's Malaysian restaurant to have their Hainanese Chicken Rice, pretty good I must say, and it's done almost similarly how the local Malaysians with do it. Yumz! 😇
Hainanese Chicken Rice is such a complicated process. One small mistake can ruin the texture of the chicken. Uncle always done it right! Such a delish 😋
Really flavourful chicken and pork trotters. The rice is very fragrant as well. This uncle is really friendly should you get to meet him. Really vouch this chicken rice!
Absolutely one of my favorite dishes. The best I've ever had was in Thailand at Patong beach. I spend three months a year there and have this for breakfast every other day. Two sisters run the place and it is always packed. Breakfast only though.
@@ohmyfood295 Kao Mun Gai (Hainanese Chicken) is considered one of Thailand's most popular street foods. Of course there are regional variations between recipes for pretty much every dish. I use a recipe from the channel Pailin's Kitchen because she says her grandmother was born in Hainan and cooked it all the time when Pailin was growing up. No matter though, if there were a dozen different recipes I am sure they would all be good in their own way.
Wow, such complicated process to make the chicken. I'm sure it taste great, It looks amazing. That pork trotters looks delicious too. What a wonderful meal 😋
Fragrant Hainanese chicken rice paired with juicy and lean steamed village chicken. Chilli sauce is on point. The soup of the day is a must have! It’s not your usual chicken rice stall soup, it’s as good as double-boiled soup. I’ve had the lotus peanut soup and also the ABC soup with sweet Corn! Not your ordinary neighborhood chicken rice stall. Don't forget to try the traditional pork trotter vinegar and also curry chicken.
We totally agree! The time, effort and heart put into these seemingly simple dishes, it definitely reflects on their complex and amazing flavours. Must try! 😍❤️
Uncle intentionally buys kampung/village chicken which has no injected hormones and he puts his passion into making them. It's seriously very fresh and healthy. 😋
A lot of chicken rice seller uses hormone-injected chicken, and the chicken texture feels too mushy. This uncle use free-range chicken, so much more healthier. I highly recommend this place, love it!
Oh yes I agreed! Those with injected hormones tasted different and odd. There's a big difference from the ones with hormones & the ones using village chicken.

Well, not too sure how is the roast duck bred but uncle's chicken is kampung chicken. However, ya I'm surprised that there's such an affordable roasted duck. May I know which duck place is this? haha
@@ohmyfood295 Most expensive roast duck are those roadside van vendors (Other than proper Chinese restaurants). Going price still going for RM70+. Hello Zack, when I was there, the cook cooked the chicken at about 2.5 - 3 hours. I don't know the exact timing cause it's their secret step haha

what i dont like from old Hainanese Chicken rice is they dont remove the bone from the meat, i prefer the boneless chicken and roasted
That is not traditional Hainanese chicken rice. U sound like my kwei loh son in law who does not know how to savour meat with bones.
Haha the bones in the meat keeps the meat moist and juicy. Removing the bones will make the meat dry while cooking
😋👍
I guess they have no time frying chicken fat shallots n garlic and uncook rice in a pot with salt and soy sauce. this is the basic.
Haha I guess different cooks have different methods. But the rice still turns out really good though!
I tried this place within a week of viewing this video.
Unfortunately it is over-rated.
Oh, how so Kana? Is it because of the price?

Drumsticks should be boneless...not no classic
But the bones are the one that makes the meat tender and not dry 😅
chicken till ok but rice out!
Is not 50 year is 500 year when no one knows how to cook
😂
This is not a recipe!
