One thing I should have mentioned in the intro is that Greninja isn't good for dual energy decks because of his attack, it's also the fact that Frogadier attacks for coloress energy! This is a big factor.

Man, I’ve been tinkering with Greninja a LOT; rounding 300 wins now. But out of all the playtesting I’ve done, I’ve found tenticruel criminally underrated, and I think that’s one of ninja’s best pairing + one kanga. But yes, ninja is flexible for sure, but you still have to be mindful of the pairing (wheezing failed my testing).
Was the double typing the reason it didn't work with weezing? So tentacruel's water type makes it more consistent and so on

I don’t think there is anyone who understands the meta of the game like mogwai does. I love these videos you put up! I wouldn’t know many Pokémon outside of the top few if it wasn’t for these vids.
There are 3 meta decks (pika mewtwo misty) and one slightly less popular (moltres). What is there to understand about the meta?

As a fellow creative deck builder, you might be interested in my pet deck. It's called *Haymaker* and it's a 3-type meta-counter deck, but only uses ⚡Energy.
I mainly use Electrode for free retreat and ⚡weakness, and Zebstrika to snipe for 30 and clean up retreated Pokémon.
Then I use Meinshao for 👊weakness and Golbat for 🌔weakness as single colourless Energy power-hitters.
It beats Mewtwo, Misty, and Pikachu decks easily. With three of the most common weaknesses in the meta, it _can_ hit other decks too; especially Normal types.
I play 2-1 lines of everything but the 1-1 Zebstrika line. I started that way because I only had 1 of each evolution, but it might actually be the way to go.
You should give it a try, I wanna see what you can do with it!

My only problem with dual energy type decks is that sometimes this game seems to decide to put you into this rut where you never, EVER pull the energy type you want.
yeah, its just like gambling, cause the purpose of this deck its just to explore so much card and to get entertaining

They just need to release a trainer or item card that lets you decide the energy you get that turn. While they’re at it they need to make a trainer that guarantees the first coin flip you get is a heads.

@@MacDaddySnuggles Yeah although there is creativity to be had running dual, the underlining issue is that you are adding even more RNG on top of RNG you already have in drawing desired cards.
On the topic of dual energy decks, I would recommend trying out centiscorch and weezing. Centiscorch only needs one fire energy to fire off a massive 130 damage attack and weezing stalls turns and gives you a much better match up into mewtwo ex, which centiscorch strugles with.
The deck is dirt cheap if you've been opening mewtwo packs and actually has performed really well for me, mewtwo ex is kind just owned by weezing and everything in a pika ex deck gets one shot by centiscorch. It mostly struggles into blastoise and charizard because of how powerful and fat those two are, atrticuno ex and starme ex are less of an issue because centiscorch is strong enough ohko them without chip, while taking a hit from them despite it's water weakness
Interesting idea
I remember trying it in a dual energy deck. The problem is that Centiscorch discards a fire energy and if you don't generate a fire energy next round, your Centiscorch is just a sitting duck if it only has non-fire energy attached to it.

This reminds me of Greninja Break so much. I loved playing that deck back in 2016.
The card pool desperately needs more flexible cards like Greninja because he's a lot of fun to build around. My current favorite deck is Greninja with Weezing to tank and apply pressure and Bruxish to pick off softened targets. It's mad fun and actually kind of solid.
Chill on that. Only one booster released so far. They plan to release at least 5000k different cards (based on the rainbow trophy in your profile) so you will have a lot more options in the future. Just be patient.
As weird as it may seem, maybe Greninja would be fine in a single color deck of a different type. Since the stage 1 attacks for colorless the strat can more reliably focus on whatever the other part of the strategy is without having to worry about the low but still very possible chance of only seeing water energy for a game.
Additionally, you could just run a misty or two if you absolutely need to gamble on using the Greninja
Speaking of single color deck of different typing, I saw an electric deck run Dragonite too. And he Misty-ed into wipe out my Vulpixes. Granted I drew like absolute crap but I thought his deck would be a lot slower.
Honestly, I think Greninja is one of the best designed cards in the game. Really fun to play, not all in on the stage 3 evolution and not an otk attack

I think future updates should have 3 energy re-rolls a game, that can activate once in a turn and forces the energy to switch to one of your other energy. Then cards like Zapdos, Blastoise, and Mewtwo will want to be mono colored and more mono color support like Erika and Misty will continue to support monocolor, but there needs to be a better system for a two color deck while also a desire to stay monocolor.
Magneton fits everywhere but no one else is exploring it
Because it's trash. It's way too slow for Pika decks and so it's bad in its own energy type. And too clunky in others
its already been explored, you run it in raichu Lt. Surge decks, works decently but not as consistent as standard pika decks, statistically speaking
Everybody talking about Misty card being imbalanced, but nobody talks about Lickitung basically having similar OP effect of unlimited power. That being said, can you make a deck around Lickitung?
Tauros feels better for this list while theorycrafting, 1 less retreat, needs 1 more energy but you dont have 3 cost attackers, alwas hits for fifty, just one less than 2 heads kangaskhan

Would love to see you give butterfree/alakazam a try. When you start with caterpie and call for friends it opens up your pokeball/professor to draw your alakazam pieces. Tank a few with butterfree, and float with powderheal/potion. I’ve had a lot of success with this combo.
If you have Kangaskhan up front, and you use Giovanni, and you flip two tails, shouldn't he still do 10 dmg? I think he should

what I love is the bandwagon meta haters gatekeeping fun because they are trying to be edgy. I also play off meta decks but I don't belittle those who find fun in playing meta decks because its asinine to try and tell others what they find fun. And before you retort with "I was talking about myself and my opinons", being toxic is doing exactly that. Also its pretty meta to hate on meta decks don't ya think?
Loving these unique decks, too many people just running tournament topper decks. One deck i saw today was a Ditto deck with a wigglytuff EX in the front to build energy. Run psychic and fire/ electric energy and its a good anti meta deck as you can copy Mewtwos psydrive or charizards 200 dmg move to snipe them out. Would be fun to see you do a variant of this
ive been messing with dual color too, one thing to consider is weaknesses, so much like the pokemon games you can have weakness coverage

I'm curious, if you're playing with multi-type decks, do you think Butterfree could go well with some of the tanky things from other types? Melmetal comes to mind, although I'm not sure that would be the best combo given the 3 steel req for its attack.
Bro, greninja tentacruel has been amazing! I really hope the new supporter cards will aid in dual color decks, because some games the energy causes me to brick something fierce.

Is it feasible? You need the exact energy card combination to use its moveset which is not really viable
I made a gengar deck using 2 meinshao’s to cover his darkness weakness and a kangaskhan for the bulk shield. Works pretty well once you get gengar out.

I’ve been finding a lot of success against mewtwo and pikachu with a deck I made.
x2 psyduck and golduck
X2 snoms and frost moth
X1 bruxish
X1 tentacool and tentacruel
X1 misty and then whatever other cards you like.
Setting up frostmoth sleeps is really good and if you roll well you can basically just control the pace of the match. Golduck and tentacruel and bruxish are just really good damage and cheap retreats

Heliolisk would be really great for dual energy team. Its an electric stage 1 pokemon requiring 2 colorless energy hitting 40-80 damage. Down side is 90 hp only, so it can't survive a pikachu.
What if, the best pokemon lifesteal in pokemon pocket aka Kabutops that can heal up to 60 (with Gio), and get supported by butterfree which will give a total healing of 80 per round 🤔
I love Mogwai's videos, but this time the hybrid deck is just a gimmick, there's only 1 Jinx making use of the psychic energy
I would rather pair Greninja with Bruxish, the synergy is incredible
I sometimes run dragonite eevee, jolteon,vaporen. I evolve eevee with whatever energy i get while i build up dragonite in the back. Vaporen heals and stalls while jolteon is a secondary sweeper. Maybe throw a farfetch'd in their too
When you throw the coin try to land it on your active Pokémon and it’ll be heads 98% of the time

I would love to see how you would build Kabutops in a deck, I've been pairing it with Weezing/Koga with some mixed results, the idea is solid but in practice getting the right energy and all the evolutions is annoying

Weezing and Greninja i think can work decently together
Man... i dont know what it is but the dual energy is not randomized. It cant be theres something not working. Too many games i go on for 3 / 4 / 5 even 7 today, turns of same energy type. Something is going on its impossible

Are you suggesting that the battles have a balancing system? Almost like they released this game at the perfect time with a cash grab element right before their lawsuit with palworld.
I had 7 turns of the same energy. I only had 2 types tho, water and electro. I lost because of it.
its a 50/50. the same as misty, sometimes you get no heads, and sometimes your opponent's articuno can attack on turn 1.
7 heads in a row is not that "rare" tho, only 1 of 128 games
Getting the event golden medal requires at least 45 games, 90 games with a 50% win rate xD
I been playing with Vileplume a lot lately and its criminally underated. it can 2 shot most things and puts them to sleep. meaning if they dont flips heads, their precious mewtwo ex is dead and they cant retreat it. I been using it with regular exeggutor as a tank to get vileplume online. But I would like to see what you can do with it!

I've opened so many Charizard packs, and not one Kang yet. But it can't stop giving me full art Alakazam, I have like 4 or 5 of them by now. Guess its getting crafted.
Mist nerf should just make it like brock or surge, or have a rule that it cant be used on either players first turn.

Misty is def a problematic card, but they should consider buffing Brock before adjusting her. Maybe Let Brock get 1 extra energy and +10 damage for that turn. It still needs to be used on a specific pokemon and sometime it may still not have enough energy to attack since both of his pokemon are energy hungry
Brock is not underpowered. Brock only works with cards that are not meta (Onix, Golem) so he doesnt see play right now. Once we get Steelix or other versions of Onix/Golem (such as 2 versions of Mankey) Brock will become meta
Just make it to where you can only play misty when your opponent has more prize points than you

I prefer greninja weezing. He might not be a basic but weezing tanks better and has koga support while doing more consistent damage with nothing but one darkness energy

I don't like 3 color dragonite decks because I struggle with 2 colors... I've had games where I get water energy the entire game.

multi color decks can benefit from Brock even without the rock energy in deck. I think people are under estimating brocks value over misty
The problem with Brock is that it only works on Golem or Onix. It could work, but it's a lot less flexible
