Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but a Platinum Preppy fountain pen works well with Moleskine notebooks. There's some ghosting, but no bleed-through or smudging. Fun fact!
I've found that Waterman Serenity Blue ink performs excellently in Moleskine notebooks with a wide range of fountain pens. No feathering or bleeding. Some ghosting.
Good review, thanks. Uniball Vision Needle is my personal favorite. (I wish they came in brown-black like the Uniball 151 does.) But they give a smooth writing experience, never skip, and contain waterproof ink. You can't beat them. You can also watercolor or highlight over them without fear of smearing. The perfect go-anywhere, write anytime pen. I also have one in my bug-out bag clipped to a small pocket notebook.
HI there! Cool video - it's great to hear about your favorite pens. I believe the Zebra Sarasa pens are filled with a quick-dry gel ink. My experience with them is similar - they always seem scratchy to me. My favorite gel pen is the Pilot Juice Up. It has a hybrid tip, conical at the base with a sort of needle tip. I use the 0.4mm points - they write super smoothly.
@@journaljoy No problem! Thanks for going through all of these pens and talking through your writing experiences with them. I have a Uni Jetstream, but it's a 0.5mm tip - it's the multipen that comes with a Hobonichi Techo when you order it directly from their website. I will give the 1.0mm a try based on your recommendation. :)
Hello, another good review. I am pen addict so have many types. Right now I using a Lamy Tippo rollerball, Sailor Lecoule fountain pen (MF nib), and I like a Diplomat Magnum fountain another light weight and good starter for the price. The medium nib on it is a smooth writer. And I do have a Pilot Metropolitan that gets some use; I just dislike the squeeze converter in it. Enjoy the info you alway give in your reviews. Right now I have been in the proverbial rabbit hole with different journals and paper.
The pens i use the most are Pokka Pens, because they are so easy to throw in a pocket. For writing tasks at my desk though, its a toss up between my Machine Era Classic brass pen and the Sharpie S-Gel steel pen.
Great video JJ (: I loved your selections, I have about half of them and liked your descriptions of their goodpoints (: Then you broke out the same Pilot Metropolitan that I have, I was kerplempt (;. I like that pen so much I got the same version in ballpoint, and it has long been my favorite 'go to' pen.. my Jetstream (; (wish i could post a pic, the center band is houndstooth)
Uni JetStream is a joy for writing! .... I do not like it for drawing. If you have smooth paper - like the paper in Leuchtturm1917 and Rhodia - the Bic Round Stick / BiC Cristal "normal" or "bold" is actually realy good. (and the BiC is hands down the best B.P. for sketching. If you wanna be a bit flashy - the Caran d'Ache 849 is a nice choise. And I would stay away from Paper Mate. I have not found any good from that brand.
Uniball pens are lovely. My favourite is the Eye Micro rollerball in black, it goes like a dream on L1917 paper. Also, if you worry about the LePen tip, have you tried the Staedtler fineliners, or maybe the Sakura plastic nib range? They've been very durable for me.
Eh! Uniball Vision Elite? 😮 they bleed like an open wound and the writing takes 2 days to dry! 😂 I bet you don’t use that in your Moleskine 😉😃 Thx for this one. Am going to try one of those Jetstream 101 pens. I’m one of the fountain pen nutters, acting like I can write nice with it. 😂
Haha Richard!! Yes the Vison Elite is a no go for the Moleskine. But it works with Leuchtturm and Blackwing Slate as well as the Galen Tomoe River Notebook I’m currently using.
Hey Richard, I just saw you comment on my Tomoe River video with the link to the great article. However your comment doesn't pop up on the video itself for some reason. I checked if it was held back for review since it contains a link but nothing came up. Would you mind commenting again? Thank you!!

I need a pen

Those sound like great pens! Thanks for sharing! :)
Your Srasa is a gel pen. 10 colors in the vintage ones.
I really love your videos! Please keep on creating ☺️

@@journaljoy - Hey 🙂 consider it done, sure 👍🏻
Which pens are suitable for Leuchtturm and Moleskine? Do they bleed through and how hard? A writing sample would be helpful.
I have plenty of videos where I review the brands and show writing samples. Feel free to browse around my channel. 😀
Do a video review of Uniball air pen in blue medium point
Do a video review of Uniball signo gel impact metallic pens I’n assorted colors
I'd like to see how you try them out in some notebooks
I usually do writing samples in all my notebook reviews
plz do a zequenz test video
Hi there! I already did a review of Zequenz notebooks including a writing sample. Just look for it on my channel :)
