It looks like a electric keyboard and probs using an arduino or something like that mapped out the piano keys to certain buttons and also to something that can play the notes he is hitting at the same time which is probably why he could type using the keyboard in the beginning.
@@yourboi5492 nope just charted two maps that approximately follow his cover and overlayed the gameplay over the cover. the typing at the start and the whole video is just editing, he's not really playing lol. i mean he is playing the piano just not the map. it's not that deep ^^

So, it started with Guitar Hero to give normal people an idea of what it was like to play Guitar for a popular rock group... and now we've come full circle and you actually need to play piano to beat this rhythm game, haha. It looks like a lot of fun though. If there was a way to combine this with Piano lessons I'd probably pick up playing Piano again.
