The crazy thing is that her strategy of fake it till you make it, and lying/exaggerating to get millions from investors, and then building a legit company, could have worked if it was a tech company and she was building an app or software. And she seemed to think it was a tech company for some reason. But it never occurred to her that this doesn’t work at all for a medical company, especially when you are promising to make some incredible medical breakthrough that no scientist, doctor, engineer, or any of the major companies in that field have ever done before.

I believe her test worked, which would mean the gov and pharmaceuticals would lose money if people were able to take one test that would explain everything sickness about your body. The gov and pharmaceutical want to keep you sick and dependant on their drugs and experiments. That's why these so called doctors pretend they dont know whats wrong with you so the keep you medicated to "sustain" . So OF COURSE they fooled the citizens to make us believe what this woman invented was a big scam when, in actuality, they are the scams. Theranos doesn't exist. It was never viable from an engineering standpoint.
I know, but like the concept of a convenient blood testing system still stands? You might have to draw more blood but perhaps you could test yourself before even seeing the doctor, or smth along those lines.

I don't even know why she lied, there's no shame in failure her company was trying to invent a whole new technology that doesn't exist and revolutionize the field of medical testing, it's understandable if she fails as long as she keeps at it.
It became a case of Folie a Deux. Balwani had taken over in the later years and they were both narcissistic psychopaths; he used his power over her to keep the fraud delusion going, and she was more than happy to comply as she didn’t want to admit to failure either. They both deserve every single day of their prison sentences.

I could see a thing like that working if the blood sample was larger, able to minamalize the tests by using the symptoms to itemize the tests to do, like cutting out certain tests that do not contain the symptoms noted or looking for larger group affects that take place to limit what it might be, such as active white cells and increased nutrients in certain things

Shorts are monetised, that’s why there are ads in the shorts feed The revenue from shorts ads are pooled together every month. And the creators are paid for the percentage of shorts views they contributed. Granted I don’t think it’s very much for shorts. And I agree it’s a travesty, these videos are exceptional well made.

The amazing thing to me is not that there are the proverbial scammers, but that Silicon Valley venture capitalists consistently can't see them through basic financial/risk analysis. He's just one of half a dozen multi-billion in the last few years. I was just reading about Elizabeth Holmes (Theranos) and her non-product. I mean, it wasn't even close. Or the WeWork scam where the guy not only was a BS artist, he made off with a fortune and is now welcome back in their community.

The lesson is to do proper due diligence before making investments. The reason she was able to get as big as she was, was because she managed to dupe one or two big name investors. That have credibility and other investors raced to be part of its growth. No one at any time asked if the product actually worked.

Her partner Ramesh Balwani holds just as much responsibility, and maybe should hold even more so, however the face of Theranos is Elizabeth Holmes and she is the one being massively associated with the event, while he isn't mentioned much.

what she was trying to do was very similar to how we made covid tests that would work really quickly and everyone had them
But the difference is covid tests for personal use didn't claim to be 100% accurate, and they only tested for one virus while theranos claimed to be able to test multiple different types of diseases and general health factors in one drop of blood
you need a serum sample for cancer tests tho which you need to collect from a venipuncture which is at about 5 mL of venous blood..in this case it was def. a scam
