Guys, post AND like for our dude Vigd. These uploads are actually a rare NEW contribution to the series' music on RUclips, due to how they're extracted and obtained. They do not sound like your typical MP3 rips. Do the dude, and the fandom, a solid by forcing the algorithm to notice him. He's even investing in vinyls that are coloured for our aesthetic pleasure. They're not the easiest to find!
the physicality of it - the experience of holding the physical object and its associated art, the ritual of putting it on the platter and queueing up the stylus, and flipping it over when the side is done. the lightness of accessing music without needing to interface with a screen. the amount of effort involved all adds up in a way that forces you to actively focus on the act of listening. it is in contrast to more modern approaches to media consumption, where you generally have immediate, effortless access to virtually all music - which has it's benefits, and I'm not going to say that one approach is "better" than the other. it is somewhat similar to why some people prefer to buy physical copies of older games complete in box with all the art and manuals and everything as opposed to just emulating it.
It's a very low tech way to play music but very romanticized. Equal to a picture on an iphone vs an instant camera. The grainy imperfections of the film camera is what gives it heart and life. You only get so many photos per roll that each picture is deliberately chosen wheras iphones can be edited, deleted, shared, retaken. Vinyl can also be passed down generation to generation if they're taken care of properly. If it's destroyed it can't be recovered. Sure we have digital backups of anything once heard by human ears but the vinyl is a physical object of that mp3. I used to think it was a waste of time and money too but every time I play my records, they feel so special vs a spotify playlist.
what the others said and also the technology is fascinating. They can work without electricity if you just spin it by hand, you will hear the music coming straight off the disc. It's like a musical instrument
Keep in mind this is technically a bootleg release. To manufacture and sell this is prohibited by federal law. And the prices this is listing for.... yikes
Yeah the prices on secondary markets like eBay/discogs are almost always terrible for these types of releases and I don’t recommend anyone seek these vinyl on there due to scalpers and flippers Though I do think you’d be able to find it for pretty cheap (close to retail) relatively easily either in the Facebook or discord group :)
I hate that I know this exists now because I _need_ it
I’d get a superstar vinyl if they had it.
same
Send a copy of this to the Game Grumps office.
