I always liked the idea of remembering your family that way. It's a shame other cultures don't do this, because not many even have an idea of who their grandparents' parents even were, unless you were into genealogy. Congrats on almost hitting 1000 subs. It's been fun watching your channel grow like it has.

As a mexican I can share that we had a time to cry, but that big day, we believe souls come, so we do not want they see us sad. That is why we avoid sadness, and we come together once more.

Being Mexican American, this movie perfectly captures my culture and preparations for El Dia De Los Muertos (The Day Of The Dead). How we decorate the altars, the music, the lore behind the celebration, everything. Also, Dante is a breed of dog called a Xoloitzcuintli (Zoh-loh-eats-QUEENT-ly) or a Xolo, for short. According to the lore of the Day Of The Dead, Xolos were guides to the underworld.
Also, a slap from a sandal or Chancla hurts, specifically on bare skin. That's why they're so feared in Mexican culture, especially when they're wielded by an elder.
What makes this movie so special to me is the concept of family. On my family's ofrenda, one of the pictures we put up is of my paternal grandfather Marcelino. He died when I was in 8th grade (2005) and even now in 2023, it messes me up with emotion. Every day, I wish I could see him face-to-face one last time, give him a big hug and tell him how much I love and miss him. 😢😢😢😢

I understand your reaction at the end of this-- there's a lot to come down from after this rollercoaster. What a terrific movie-- I'd go as far to say it's Pixar's most emotionally moving story, even now in 2023. It's set in the Dia de Los Muertos framework, but all the emotional moments are so universal-- the need for family support, the realization of how deeply your ancestors are a part of who you are, and the healing power of music.
I will never not be moved by this film.

🎶 "Remember me, though I have to say goodbye / Remember me, don't let it make you cry" 🎶
Fun Fact: Southwest Airlines promoted Coco (2017) by having one of their Boeing airplanes decorated with artwork from the film.
Location Location Fact: The look of the Land of the Dead is inspired by the Mexican city of Guanajuato, which has colorful houses placed on the hillsides in such a way that they look almost stacked.
Music Enthusiast Fact: Miguel was originally only going to play guitar and not sing. When the director, Lee Unkrich, discovered Anthony Gonzalez was in fact a talented singer, it was decided Miguel would do both so Anthony could share this talent in the film.
Mythology Fact: The orange flower seen throughout the film is the Aztec Marigold (known also as the Mexican Marigold or the Cempasúchil). The flower is used in the tradition of Dia de los Muertos in México to guide the deceased to the living. In México, the Xoloitzcuintli (the Mexican hairless dog depicted in the film) is the guide of the deceased through his/her way to the Mictlán (the underworld, the place where all the souls go after death).

As a mexican, the day if the death is my favorite celebration. Is so important in our culture that we have an obligatory day off that day in the calendar to visit our passed family. Some of my most loved family members already passed, the most recent was my grandma, my mom's mother. Any time I have the chance I got to visit her grave.
However, I have only one bad thing to say about the movie. Is the need of the spanglish necessary? Is my only complaint since the movie came out. I mean, we sometimes do it, but not at the point that is our main way to speak.

13:19 Chodiso is a spicy kind of meat usually used like a seasoning to mix with eggs for breakfast, I think it is made from pig since they generally have a pig on the package. it comes like of looking like some kind of red sausage. It is enclosed in a tube like packaging which you have to split open first. It is crumbly in tecture with this red runny oil through out it. It burns going in and it burns coming out.

Once a Mexican comedian came to Ecuador and in one of his monologues he said that the weeping woman had followed him from Mexico to here haha. Until the people taught him that the legend of the weeping woman has existed here for centuries and he understood that this is part of South America.
Here in Ecuador we don't say Day of the Dead, we say Day of the Dead. The indigenous people of Ecuador have honored their dead since ancient times. When the Spaniards arrived and introduced All Saints' Day, which is celebrated on November 1, the locals made this holiday their own. All Souls' Day, as it is celebrated today, is therefore a combination of Catholic religious celebrations and indigenous traditions.
The government decrees a holiday on November 2nd every year and all over the country a colada morada is made with Guaguas de pan, just on 2/Nov/2023 people were in the cemeteries visiting their relatives, taking with them any kind of food and then sitting next to a tombstone with the whole family to eat.
It is understandable that Mexico being in North America is more related to the film industry and many other things in the USA and therefore stands out more, but that's ok, anyway it is nice to see a Mexican brother receiving recognition. Greetings and a big hug from 🇪🇨 to all of you 🇲🇽

I am old and old people are known for being annoyed by things, so here goes.
A RUclipsr, watching a film from the 1980's that many consider a classic, kept snarking, because the special effects were cheesey, and lighting wasn't up to modern standards and the acting was ugh.
She didn't wait until the end of the film and then make her comments, she snarkes all the way through, and I never watched her channel again.
Your comments were gentle, but you kept referencing other films, this reminds me of...etc.
I know it's hard , but if you can try to judge a film on its merits only.
After, if you want to make comments comparing it to other things that to my mind is legitimate.
You two seem a nice couple, and I like you but...
It is said, that humans only have 7 stories, basic stories, that we mix and match ( heroes journey, boy meets girl, etc).
Music will start to sound the same, a lot of modern music is made with only four chords, and books and movies have only the 7 stories, so we will keep encountering the same elements, time after time. So we need to judge how those elements were used and blended, to make a whole.
You can go to the edges, such as metal music or horror films, but they aren't for everyone.
I wish you and your channel well.
