I cannot actually believe that when I search for the greatest singers of all time that Bobby Hatfield does not get a mention. This performance was incredible (along with the live performance of Unchained Melody on the Andy Williams Show). I’ve never heard anyone compare with his voice. He is so underrated.
I can't believe that when Summertime is mentioned anywhere, anytime, or in any context, Bobby's performance isn't what is mentioned. Before my time, but blows my mind every time I watch this.
lisajames ; There's a lot of people who don't know talent when it staring them in the face. Bobby Hatfield was one of the best singers out there. The Righteous Brothers were my all time favorites.
Simply the greatest voices of all time and isn't even mentioned as one of the top vocalists of all time. that is egregious and criminal !! it shows you how uneducated and incredibly tragically misinformed our world sometimes is .both Bobby and Bill medley , in my opinion, as a vocalist myself, find myself floored by these two alien, out of this world talent !! shame on you critics and tragically misled music lovers to not realize that no one has ever before or after, been as other worldly as the righteous brothers.aretha Franklin and James Brown were both amazed by these two greats !!!
As a counter þenor, Bobby had the God given range, but it's what he did with it that is beyond a djectivès. Nor does it hurt that smile añd Chrisman were so enchanting
@@doloresschultz8393 I love him. I have all his music in my car from Amazon. And at home I play all his CDs. I have the Richard Perry sessions CD and on it Bobby has unbelievable tracks that were never released. Stay with me, In the still of the night, Run to my loving arms, etc and Ringo Star was the drummer. Of course his other bother CD is phenomenal. And he was gorgeous. I wish he had taken better care of his health so that he was still here.
Killer vocals! Bobby Hatfield was certainly one of the greatest singers to go down in music history. This vocal performance was pitched perfect. His voice is candy to my ears 💯👌👍👍👍👍
What can one say, I cannot perceive how talented he was (talent doesn’t begin to describe it). Greatest vocalist of all time in my opinion. RIP Bobby Hatfield.
His breath control is out of this world. I am always amazed that his speaking voice is relatively high, but not only can he soar up to his famous high notes, his singing voice also hits much deeper notes. A true tenor/countertenor. I wish he could have been able to give us the treasure of his vocal capabilities a bit longer.
Thank You for pointing out that he could sing rich deep notes also. His voice moved through his throat too and throughout his body and soul and heart and spirit . . . and then through mine too.
Where you've been is living in a very busy world with much going on. And Bobby Hatfield has been an underrated wonderful singer. Thank you for sharing your appreciation.
BEYOND Incomparable and Live! Virtuoso level vocalist. As a professional singer, I come back to this for inspiration. His register transitions were flawless.
The Righteous Bros were probably the best Duo's of their time. Bobby Hatfield singing this is just wonderful.Bobby has the tenor voice and Bill Medley the baritone voice they shouldn't have blended together but they did and it was pure magic.
These 2 were so talented, wish I could a seen them live, and Bobby's vocal range is unbelievable but so dynamite and soulful, Greatest singer ever, and great dancer and comical. What a Voice! And Nice looking to go with it!
You don't have to search anybody that knows music will say Bobby is # 1. He is more versatile than any singer ever not to mention he is a countertenor one of the rearest type of male singers there are. He also did not have too shabby a partner in duets with the great bill medley a fabulous bass baritone back in the day.
from the TV show Something Special September 1965... an insane rendition... out of this world really... trying to find the whole show .. no luck so far
Just amazing!!!!!!😍😍😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. So if you really listen, and understand music, you can hear Johnny Wilder Jr from Heatwave(Always and Forever) in this song Summertime. God what I would give to hear those two guys sing together. Johnny never got the credit he deserved. His voice was just as amazing as Bobby’s. And we are all blessed that we get to listen to these beautiful singers every day. 😊😊🙏🙏
While Johnnie Wilder was a very talented and gifted singer, who certainly deserves more attention, he wasn't an influence on Bobby Hatfield. Bobby Hatfield who was born in 1940, recorded this song in 1965. Johnnie Wilder, born in 1949, was merely 16 when Bobby Hatfield performed this song. After serving in the military, which took him to Germany, Johnnie Wilder formed his group Heatwave in 1975. I heard him both when he sang in military clubs overseas, and again when he and his band revisited Germany. His brother Keith was also a founding member. Johnnie had such a smooth, most soulful voice!
Their first performances show a very diferent Bobby. Happy and loose, dancing and funny. I can’t understand why they became so stiff. No wonder He had to channel his passion and soul by his whole body ❤
Bobby usually was very lively while Bill often came across as stiff. He probably "mirrored" Bill's demeanor to achieve complete harmony. There are quite a few recordings that show what a bundle of energy he was. Like, e.g. the live performance of "Yes indeed" with Peggy Lee on the Ed Sullivan show.
Oh I’m obsessed with this; came back and watched it again. All due respect to the original artist(s) - had some trouble figuring out whose song it really is - but this here is the most charismatic and energized rendition I’ve ever heard.
I am in my 70s and remember Bobby and Bill well from my teen years. My favorite for showing Bill's vocal skills and talent has always been "Unchained Melody" however I just heard him sing Summertime here and was beyond amazed! WOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s Bobby Hatfield doing unchained Melody and Ebb tide and summertime. Not Bill. It’s Bobby soaring Tenor that bought beautiful music to this world. Not Bill.
That’s a Bobby Hatfield doing unchained Melody. Bill not only can’t sing high notes but he does not have the range or breath control that The amazing Bobby Hatfield had. Rest in peace Bobby. we all miss you
I was 15 when he and Bill were on the Andy Williams show and Bobby did a incomparable “Unchained Melody “ but I just now for the first time hearing Summertime. Where have I been?
I absolutely ADORE the sound of this man's voice but ordinarily when I think of Summertime I think of Janis Joplin. Could you magine had Bobby & Janis done this song - or any song - together? How they could have played off of each others' voices!
Allegorically, bobby was well portraying the gospel call, was portraying the "voice" of God addressing his Son Jesus before and on the cross. Those are aches and cries of deepest love. Bobby "does" God, so-o-o humbly, naturally,
Trying to get listener's attention, and bible love tropes are a great template for love of the eros style [for some people] as well as for the phileo and agape style. God's bible even gives is a complete chapter on relationship btwn the saved soul and its master/lover/savior, a "what-it's- like" favor from God to each person who has ears to hear (see Luke).
I cannot actually believe that when I search for the greatest singers of all time that Bobby Hatfield does not get a mention. Greatest of all time in my opinion...nobody can do what he just did
Those notes only exist inside this man!
His voice in the most beautiful instrument
incredible! i know he was recognized, but golly, seriously i don't feel he was recognized enough! just simply amazing!
Holy cow! I never heard him sing this before. He set the standard for today's vocalists!
Bobby was the best and he was underrated for some reason
He was incredible
who needs it appreciated
As many times as I have heard Unchained Melody, I have never heard this by Bobby Hatfield! WOW, absolutely amazing.
How on earth can mere words describe this guys voice! ❤️💕❤️💕

Agree, and a very humble man also. When you have the incredible talent that has - you don’t need to brag about it.
Absolutely agree!

Wow…that was incredible! never heard that rendition before..unparalleled!

Actually Billy Stewart does the song justice. I'm not sure who is better. I call it a tie.
Janis Joplin, too - FANTASTIC !!!
