    When I first bought this Barista I couldn’t get any foam, and I was about to return it as all I could get was just warm milk. Then before I returned it I decided to use a different brand of milk and viola the change was night and day. It now makes the most rich and delicate foam, just like a gourmet coffee house. I love this machine and find it totally worth the price. My favorite drinks are Cappuccino, Mocha, and iced Nitro,

    Lovely honest review as always. Really am stuck on if to purchase one. They are now £199.00 on Nespresso website….. Did visit a store the other week and asked if we could see this working and try a drink from it but was told no. I’m leaning more towards this is a little overpriced when you consider you still need the use of a Nespresso machine. I think if this was more around the £100 to £120 mark it would be more appealing. I know plenty of people with a Nespresso machine but no one with this….an they all say the same not at £199 but they would purchase if it came down in price.

    Thanks for the great video! I decided to purchase a Barista myself after watching a few of your videos, and am very happy with it so far. I prefer a less airy foam and a silkier milk texture which I feel this device accomplishes over the Aeroccino. I also love the non-milk recipes such as the Iced Nitro, and get quite a bit of use out of mine.

    I should have watched this 2 weeks ago! I bought a Barista before Christmas as a treat. First coffee Christmas morning, a Flat White - wonderful. Next one on Boxing Day, a Cappuccino - disappointing, not even "foam" as described. Basically just runny hot milk. I rang Nespresso thinking it was faulty, they had a replacement here within 2 days. Same problem with the Cappuccino, also it wouldn't pair with the App despite 4 attempts. It has now gone back for a refund, and I'm sticking with my Aeroccino 4 for now. I love the idea of doing some of those other recipes, maybe I should have stuck with it? My membership discount made it a reasonable price, but even so if it doesn't make my favourite properly then it's not worth it. I did ask if someone from Nespresso could contact me before refunding it, maybe tell me where I might be going wrong - but they said it was easier to just refund it if I was "dissatisfied". Very strange! Francis, Leeds

    • @A2BProductions
      @A2BProductions  3 года назад

      Hi, thanks for sharing your experience. We've made a few recipes with it on the Channel now but still loads more we want to try. The flat white is brilliant but totally agree the cappuccino was a let down. Mocha and hot chocolate were again great but small drinks. Keep meaning to do a video testing different types of milk - skimmed and whole milk etc. It's a lot of money to spend if it doesn't suit your needs isn't it.

    • @francisklonowski7727
      @francisklonowski7727 2 года назад

      @@A2BProductions By way of a follow-up : Because of a mix-up with Nespresso I ended up keeping the Barista. Just for the record - the cappuccino remains disappointing, and the Flat White is just that - flat, no froth or whatever they call it. I tried the Cafe Viennois - lovely texture of foamed milk but it's cold, as if it's making an iced coffee. I tried resetting to factory settings but that didn't have any effect. I couldn't send it back as Nespresso had already refunded it [that was the mix-up!] So now the Barista sits in the corner of the work top, unloved and unused. Very disappointing, but at least my net outlay is zero.

  • @lisag30082010

    I couldn’t make the espresso con panna, it just kept dislodging the whisk. I was wondering what I did wrong. I used double cream so thought that was why, the recipe isn’t that clear, just full fat cream. I don’t tend to have single cream in, but maybe that’s why. I enjoy mine, it is very expensive and I think even though I enjoy it, if something happened I wouldn’t replace it.

    • @A2BProductions
      @A2BProductions  4 года назад

      Ah it wasn't just me that happened too then. We used double cream too, might try other creams to see what happens. I had a bit of cream left over and tried again and started it off as soon as I put the cream in. It whipped the cream without dislodging the whisk that time but not sure if that was just because there wasn't much cream in or that I didn't let it sit in there for long before setting it off. Yeah I'd echo your thoughts on the Barista I think.

    • @A2BProductions
      @A2BProductions  4 года назад +1

      Really glad they’ve helped, I’ve had a few subscribers mention that as the combo they went for. Nespresso did send me a new whisk once for the aeroccino 4 (for free) as it stopped frothing but that was a long while back and no problems since. You do have to be careful if washing them by hand so you don’t break the spring and also we don’t have a dishwasher so not sure if that affects them at all 🤔 Generally I’d say they’re pretty good if you take care of them and only use milk in them (the temptation can be there to try and make hot chocolate and other things which isn’t recommended). Ok so iv had this machine since it 1st come out, so a good number of years now. At first I couldnt get it to foam milk and I found out that it only really works best with skimmed milk and it must be dairy milk, no nut based milks or dairy free.
    Second, this machine is a pain in the ass, why do I say this well iv had this thing explode in a milky mess all over the place on many occasions, and yes each time I did the milk to the lines on the inside of the spinner, I tryed it at all levels. Now it dosent happen all of the time, but it dose happen when your lest expecting it to and that makes it even more annoying.
    I have had the machine sent back to nepresso to be repaired on 3 separate occasions, each time coming back and having no real change. I will say that nepresso customer service is very good and friendly.
    I mostly do the flat white option but iv tryed other foams and when it works, have come out well, because I only use skimmed milk and fill it to the bottom line, which I find gives me a better result.
    Now as for multipal drinks in a row, you cant do this, once one foam is done, you must wash it out completely, dry it and let it cool for a few mins , then you can put it back into the machine , fill with the milk and do other drink.
    For any new comer to this product, it dose make good foamy barista milk when it wants to work, things iv found to help stop the porno style milk explosion is to keep an eye on the milk spinning, the machine will get louder and spinns will get quicker as it begins to finish off, if you can see the milk starting to converge on the tiny steam hole at the top of the plastic lid, and you think its going to pure out of it, then press the button on the front to stop the process, it should still give you the foam you want but avoid that unhappy ending.
    One more key thing, when your pureing the milk into the stainless steel jug, keep the jug in the machine itself with the spinner, the spinner is magnetized and will stick to the bottom, so you get a true measure of your milk, dont pure the milk into the jug with the jug not attatched or you will think your pureing the milk to the measure, but you wont be because the spinner will float, and then you risk over filling and giving yourself that unhappy finish.

      @@A2BProductions I've not used my coffee machine in a while, I'm getting more and more disillusioned about the whole coffee pod rip off. It just seems that 60p for a single mug of coffee is a bit too expensive. I'm considering a bean to cup machine next.
      The recipe maker is good for hot chocolate and it gives a great velvety texture. I wonder what it's like for Horlicks. There's nothing better than a nice chocolate or Horlicks to wind down for a good night's sleep.

      Yeah Horlicks would be something a bit different to try. I had a dabble with a bean to cup machine. The espresso was good when I managed to get it right but there was a fair bit of mess involved and a bit of waste dialling each new bag of coffee in too, pros and cons to both types of machine I guess. Not sure if you have a Vertuo or Original machine. Might be worth trying an Original and compatible pods to save a bit of money. Just an idea.

    • @Zooumberg

      @@A2BProductions I have the Vertuo machine. Yeah the pods are expensive, especially considering I rarely drink coffee now. I'm drinking just water more or less now, apart from the hot chocolate for bed. The joys of getting old. I don't know if your remember me telling you I used to work for Nespresso. Well I'm no longer working there. I've since being doing software support and I'm sick to death of working in an office. So I'm training to drive an articulated lorry. Perhaps I'll be less reluctant to spend cash on the pods once I start work on the lorries.

    All though I’ve used nespresso machines and milk machines for years I’ve now moved back to a bean to cup machine with a steam system. Far more versatile and to be honest I’m a massive coffee lover and the latest barista bean to cup machines are the way to go. Far more coffee selection and it’s not to difficult to get a great professional tasting and looking drink. And the price of top quality beans that will be freshly ground on the day your drinking still works out so much cheaper than a nespresso machine and pods.

    • @A2BProductions
      @A2BProductions  3 года назад

      Yeah I’ve had a bean to cup machine in the past and found it tough to get a consistently good espresso. When it was good it was really good but the complete opposite when it went wrong. May well pick one up again though and give it another go.

    Thanks for the info - this really helped when I was browsing :)
    I've searched high and low for the "perfect" frother and whilst this is a great machine, capable of a full range of frothing, the software and recipes hold it back. It would be great to see customisable recipes, where you could select a slider from Less --> More froth. That way recipes could be adjusted to suit both the milk being used, and user preference.
    For example I love the Flat White (like your wife does) and Latte Art settings, however they only deliver (to my preference) if I use full fat milk. If recipes could be tweaked to compensate for preferred milk type (in my case semi-skimmed 2%) - it would be perfect. This could be easily accomplished with an 'in recipe' slider option.
    The machine can definately do the job - the software absolutely holds it back and could be so much better with a little development.
    One other slight frustration is that you have to be connected to the machine within the app, to view receipes. It would be better to be able to do this away from the machine, and connect when ready. Otherwise you find yourself stood in the kitchen, trying to find new recipes.
    It's okay - but could be great.

    £179 is alright because Nespresso is a premium coffee company, therefore for that type of target audience £179 should be alright. It's OK for me and good. I think there's a way to change over the whisks but be careful with that yes!!!!👍😅
