In my opinion Billie Joe Armstrong is the best songwriter that ever lived. I don't think he gets anywhere near the recogniton he deserves for great songs like this
SIMPLY PERFECT! The albuns 1039 and kerplunk are part my life ! Billie joe was the love of my life when i was a teenager ! He' s sittl very special for me!
Myron M I like the beat of the songs entitled Dry Ice, 409 In Your Coffeemaker, At The Library, Don’t Leave Me, I Was There, Disappearing Boy, Road To Acceptance, Why Do You Want Him and the songs from Kerplunk like 80, Android, One Of My Lies, StrangeIand, 2000 Light Years Away. And let’s not forget about the album insomniac
Seriously, you can listen to whatever people are calling "New Green Day" and then watch this and see he is still capable of pulling off that old style.
I LOVE when they play old stuff today. They're far more experienced today than back then, so their old stuff is just AWESOME played with todays Green Day.
i think this is the best green day performance i was at the show and they played a lot of great songs yeah it was like seeing old school green day energy and combined with the ability its was a great great night you can feel the magic and the raw music picked up in the air sorry for my bad english but all i meant to say it was the best the best show green day played EVER!
Just like tatianakp said. I love all Green Day songs, exepct I don't know few songs.. They' re really band that's been always play what they wanna play, no metter what some people says.. And they're challenging theirselves as reall artists (Foxboro Hot Tubs, The Network, covers,..). They totally rocks!!
i am so happy that i had the chance to listen to this song live at MEN Arena 31.10!!!!it was the best surprise after the incredible appearance of foxboro hot tubs!!
O man... def. my fave song off of 1,000 hours, and one of my all time faves... they sounds soo great at this age, and u can still hear a tiny bit of Billie's younger voice, that little cracking/ voice changing that it used to do =)
Great song, good to hear them playing stuff from Smooth again :) And I love how Jason's just learning on the fly lol awesome... and it sounded great all the way through so I think he had it pretty much down pat.
Well you have to remember that Shenanigans was a mix of B-Sides and tracks that were cut from the main albums. Thats why it had no theme really. But yes Haha You're Dead is one of my faves from that album. Just so cheery and such.
This is definitely in my top 5 favorite Green Day songs EVER... I had NO IDEA they played it this recently though! I haven't heard it since the Insomniac tour...
couldn't agree more with ya! i'd also love to see them re-produce 1,039 S.O.S.H....it would be amazing to see them tour with that album!!1000 Hours's my fave all-time song along with christie road of course..U?
Wow in this performance. Billie sounds exactly like he used to when this song came out. Billie's so awesome....and hot. I love him and Green Day forever.
ahhh would have to be my fav Green Day song! flipped out when they played it @ show 2 in melb! if only they played it in show one i woulda seen it twice :)
Actually their first album was called 39/Smooth (1990). The 1991 compilation of 39/Smooth, the Slappy (1990) and 1,000 Hours (1989) EPs, and one track from The Big One Compilation (a compilation that featured bands from the East Bay and Los Angeles) is called 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours.
Oh my god, I was watching their videos of this song in 1990...It's changed so much. ;-; They had SO much energy, now they're more relaxed...probably because they aren't on drugs. xD
Seriously, their still Green Day. That band name was, is, and forever will be the best most legendary name know to a punk rock fan! Old green day and new green day is still green day! so it's gotta be great if it's comming from Green Day!!!
People who don't know this song can NOT be considered Green Day fans. It is the best song in their catalog, along with Christie Road and Who Wrote Holden Caulfield.
Billie convincing Jason to play the song too is so pure
Ikr
I absolutely love how the crowd jumps in in the beginning with the "HERE WE GO AGAIN!"
happycompy ikr! like they all waited for it to start after the guitar
BEST GREEN DAY SONG. PERIOD.
Yes
No question
Agreed!
Best live version of it!
@@Slaners100 ruclips.net/video/2eHK-qNYABA/видео.html i think this is the best live performance imo
In my opinion Billie Joe Armstrong is the best songwriter that ever lived. I don't think he gets anywhere near the recogniton he deserves for great songs like this
Oh how the times have changed…
Billie is a great songwriter but actually he isnt the one who wrote this song
SIMPLY PERFECT! The albuns 1039 and kerplunk are part my life ! Billie joe was the love of my life when i was a teenager ! He' s sittl very special for me!
8 albums on and Green Day still haven't wrote a song as catchy as this. I loves it.
Jason doesn't know the song. Watches Billie as he plays. Plays flawlessly except for F# of the chorus.
isn't it F#minor
NexterZulu its the F power chord just in half step down tuning
Patrick O'Gara usually i play it in minor :) sounds great
Then there's something wrong with your ears
where else does he mess up?
I love how Jason White didn't know the song well, but Billie persuaded him to play it anyway.
I wish they would also play their other old schools like 'at the library' and 'one of my lies'
He played One of My Lies acoustic. It was amazing. But I agree. Kerplunk ans 1039 need more attention.
Myron M I like the beat of the songs entitled Dry Ice, 409 In Your Coffeemaker, At The Library, Don’t Leave Me, I Was There, Disappearing Boy, Road To Acceptance, Why Do You Want Him and the songs from Kerplunk like 80, Android, One Of My Lies, StrangeIand, 2000 Light Years Away. kashmoney they played this song in Sydney last week, is was awesome as f@#k!
Shane Thomas omg you better not be lying
I love that green day doesn't change the way they sing their songs when it comes to live performances, unlike blink-182
These guys are amazing! They got me through my high school years. No band has ever matched their deep, poetic, and meaningful lyrics.
I love that they still play a few oldskool songs.
I love all their stuff, both old and new. I'm the same age as they are and I've grown up with them.
Probably one of the best performances of this song.
this song is great and espacially THIS performance is just great, too!!!
I LOVE when they play old stuff today. They're far more experienced today than back then, so their old stuff is just AWESOME played with todays Green Day.
Do you think the same 11 years later 😏
