thescore esports channel literally ignored dota content for whole years and came back with a short just to throw some dirt
They are just a bunch of Riots paid content creators. They never discuss the current quality update Valve have done in Dota to kill smurfs and toxic people in game which is also rampant in LoL. Riot could have just stolen another one from dota. They never talk about Ti ticket prices which is 850$ minimum for the final 3 days and 100$ minimum for Playoffs and are sold out.
I agree. Like no videos on how much the game changed since and how much quality of life Valve and Icefrog added. It was just a Short on the New Frontiers update. I agree with a comment someone said at a previous short: they need a big Dota fan on their staff. Dota has had big changes since TI10 and a lot of things to talk about since. No love for Dota 2 from this Esports channel which is weird. No TI11 video also.
@@imperialbananas and by the way, their channel become this big because of doing Dota content for years.
it's not as trendy as league of legends, counter-strike, and valorant at the moment
@@a.w_. yeah, because brawl stars is that trendy hahahaha League is dead in our region and never was alive from the start.
The hate for dota 2 by thescore eSports is real.
i mean sure but the compendium is shit so they're not wrong
@@knightsky4438 whale mentality
@@coolgate7794 whale mentally because I won't mindlessly dump my money and praise dota when they fuck up with the compendium now that's crazy 🤣
yeah. that makes dota2 GOAT of mobas
@@knightsky4438 they're not wrong on this one but the fact that they made a content of how shit the prize pool this year and never a good content about dota still proves a point that they're hating on dota. I've never seen a good news about dota in this channel.
not buying battle pass = dying
this is your brain on league of legends
Dota 2 = 400k players active monthly
League of Legends = 152 million players active monthly
Last year it was 7 million players active, and now down to only hundred thousand mark. So yeah. Dota is technically dying.
@@jagwire93 what? The 400k are concurrent players, not monthly, not even daily.
League's concurrent players are probably like 1 million average.
@@facefullvoid7273 you missed another 149 million concurrent players, mate. I am right about what i said. It's a simple google search and is even posted on stream.
League's player count is far larger than you think.
@@facefullvoid7273 exactly cos that's what i'm talking about. You're the one who's on a different page.
@@jagwire93 but your first comment says dota has 400k monthly, which is not true. Those are concurrent players, not monthly.
Also monthly active dota players could be tens of millions
As a Dota player I can say there’s a reason people didn’t buy the compendium. Usually it’s a battle pass that consists of battle lvls where new tiers get new treasures, voice lines etc. as well as a hero challenge + a super fun challenging co-op mode. This year the compendium literally gives none of those. I’m happy that dota players didn’t just blindly buy it so that hopefully the following years we’ll get a better one.
yeh basically 99% of ppl spend money for skins and compendium had none of allat
Honestly I hope the older battlepass style never comes back.
Valve greed is even greater as they're releasing the cosmetics after the tournament. I'm order to not share the profits. 😤
good
They earn more in one day on steam compared to what they earn from dota 2 in whole year. Dota is more of a passion project for them and although the more money the better, it is not end all be all for them.
Big mistake. Why would we purchase this Compendium when there's no reward for buying that shit.
100%
Exactly, that's what everyone is thinking, they are just thinking about getting their money and not giving anything in return, f*k that.
They already announced that chests and items now would be split across the year. They did that so they shouldn't give more money to pro gamers who win the international.
To be fair, FINALLY non bp-locked arcanas/cosmetics
ya wat a waste of money
I mean to be fair, 2.8 million is still massive compared to most FGC tournaments
Of course it is when you compare it to others. But we're talking about in the history of dota 2 itself. The International has always been known as E-sports tournament with the highest prizepool ever.
And ngl, it's actually concerning for the future of the game itself
@@elstriker2020 oh no I get it and for the DOTA fanbase it does seem bad, I just like seeing this from a fighting game POV where a $1 million prize is seen as jawdropping
@@Ash0512but then these are teams unlike in fgc where they are individuals. They split the prize and management gets a big cut and they have to split with subs and coaches as well
The just fucked up every chance this year to hype up tournaments that’s it’s all trickled down and affected Ti.
So many tourneys with hours between games or just shit production in general. It has definitely made it rough as a viewer to enjoy Dota this year.
FGC org's sometimes avoid promotioning these kinds of games due of nature of fighting and violence unlike MOBA's are easily to promote due not harmful to sellout on younger audience and for masses only will concern is those players pop offs in game and for FPS big cooperate will abuse loot boxes to make profit on them and on the prize pool in their tournaments
Maybe with the more money THEY CAN UPDATE TF2 MORE
Haha
and other hilarious jokes you can tell yourself
dude, valve made soo much money off csgo and cs dont even have that premium 128 tickrate and good antihack in place. dont even put ur hopes on lol
Hahahahahah..........no
This comment made Valve allocate even more resources to dota and cs, just out of spite
Wish this addressed the BP issue not some clickbait about the game "dying" lol
By look at the steam charts... Dota 2 is not dying. Just because the players don't want the battlepass doesn't mean it's dead, I mean almost 3 mil is a lot of money considering the sh*tty battlepass and is more than most of the eSports' prizepool.
Someone snitched on the players and casters and other crew who wanted to form a union and valve just slashed that sweet prize pool
Do u have a post or videos about this ?
your source of info pls?
@@nirogacaradhigama3788 look up "trust me bro"
It is nothing but a flex by Valve showing to the Pro Players that it was their creation/cosmetics that makes the fans pump up the pricepool! And not their sheer eagerness to support their respective teams with their in-game merchandises or even see them play on The International. They're all just bonuses! So these pro players should know their place!
Probably this. Pro players are getting too cocky (looking at you Quinn). I think it will go back to business as usual during next major equivalent competitions.
They take 75% for every dollar spent on compendium + big prize pool = big hype -> more ads -> more cash. It always was a win win for them but gaben is unorthodox in his decisions so will see
The prizepool is still 3 million dollars... And we still dunno how Valve will restructure the pro-circuit. I really dunno if this is Valve trying to put pro-players in their place (and i see no reason why Valve would do that).
I think this too, they made it very clear that cosmetics will not be part of the reason to increase the prize pool, and well, nobody is throwing in money as they used to, super funny for sure, these poor pro players will no longer get 8 million each, now they will only get 500k, what will they ever do
@@tnightwolfBecause some pro players are wanting more things for them?
You gotta admit, TI's prize pool exponential increase is NOT sustainable.
it is sustainable as long as they release arcana behind the massive battlepass paywall. Even if they right now release a single arcana , they can 100 percent reach atleast 7 8 million prize pool.
@@krishnarai4854they will release it after ti. Probably not satisfied putting all that cosmetics money for ti.
@@krishnarai4854but it is not constant, I hope next year gets better. TI12 is actually not that bad though, I still enjoy watching without caring about much about the prizepool. On the bright side, the mentality that "prizepool should increase every TI" would reset giving more ways for other stuffs for valve to explore in this game.
@@user-th2cp8uh8r i have stopped playing dota for about a year so i really dont care anymore. I just wanted to watch some matches of TI but game schedule is so shit, i aint waking up at 2 3 am in the morning to watch the match.
Valve themselves said that they're going to focus on the "game" this time by taking it away from the battlepass. so while it may or may not be true that ti's prize pool exponential growth is not sustainable, this is not an example of it
Yeah, I’m a big DOTA fan, but the compendium not having a single skin it it makes it not worth even the $6 it costs. just shitty loading screens and voice lines. Valve got greedy last year and doubled down on it this year too
That's the fucking problem, they said they were pulling back a little and yet did the same shit again, like a last year, and I can smell they gonna do the same stunts like last year too, every get a free BP for the second round
All these companies that make games got greedier 🎉
I got it for the permanent voice lines
@@Slavtron LoL greedy ? People really do forget the good things and only remmeber bad ones. Not too long ago they were giving skins for free bruh. You don't have to buy if you don't like it, but vavle is the furthest company you can call greedy
No one is really forcing you to buy anything... how is that greedy
If throwing 1 ti under the bus can really change the game ill take it.
What they failed to realize is that not everyone is into the esports scene. I for one couldn't care less who wins TI. all i wanted was the immortals arcanas and mini games during this festive season. Big L for not considering the casuals man we were the main reason why TI prizepoool is has always been big bucks.
Fr bro I want Halloween and christmass mini games
I literally refresh the dota 2 website 3 times because i did not believe the prize pool 😂😂
Talk about biting the hand that once feed you
This game has been called a dead game for 10+ years and it's still going on lol
Valve has been generous giving free arcanas skins and treasures this year. And people doesn't see that tbh. They are so greedy that you can see only the true Dota 2 fan who buys and support the compendium this year are the real ones
Yeah, they just want to rage because the compe sucks, but they have no reading comprehension when valve says the cosmetics or else is coming "after" ti, they even get mad on the 10 year anniv and says the contents are shit like wtf, you got personas and immortal sets for free and you already got arcana on the swag bag, valve being generous this year and the players just riot on the compendium you had the choice to not buy... Is dota 2 player passion just dead? I too have some complaints, but i am thankful on this year's free stuff too
very well said people are crazy@@safau25
The copium is strong with this one. You have to have some personal excuse to keep your brain from thinking it's waisting money.
thry sre not permanent arcana skins
I used to play dota2 since 2014 and havent played in the last 3+ years and I can say from experience that dota2 isn't dying.. it's just that most of us have grown up and having to transition to having responsibilities and having nomore time to play.
My peak was 300 SEA immortal and i still remember that time when I queued ranked and got midone on my team 😂 i played mid SF euls dagger and midone was KOTL (this was around 2019 when midone left team secret and was a free agent and would later on join OG)
Memories 😭
should bring back the "goals" for compendium
like in ti4 where 8 million$ will have Darude play in the Ti4 AFTERPARTY
it may not be as high as the most recent ones with the exception of this TI, but that afterparty was effin LIT! (of course the last song was darude sandstorm remix with darude wearing a tshirt of sandking casting sandstorm)
You should have seen the fgc's face when sf6 announced the prize pool for the capcom cup, this is a huge set back amount of money but it's still a huge amount
Meanwhile OSRS DMM event had a meager 25k pool
When you factor in taxes and splitting the prize amongst teammates...
Still more money than most of us would ever feel in hands.
@user-xt1yj5pt9y Possibly but the prize winnings aren't as crazy as you think.
Let's do some basic math of that $3,000,000 prize pool:
First place gets 45% of the prize pool - $1,350,000
Romania will tax these earnings by about 40% - $810,000
Split amongst five teammates - $162,000
And this is just for first place.
But i never see TI winner from romania. I bet this TI either team from east europe or china will win
I believe the prize pool will be lower from time to time.. but this is like jumping off cliff 🥶
Miss the times when the different classes of heroes had distinct roles before the introduction of hero talents and shit.
So you basically just want League? Freedom of build is always Dota 2 strong point.
@@blushingralseiuwu2222 so you mean dota2 around 2015, 2016,2017, 2018 were not dota2 but league? Dota 2 is dota 2 . Just missing the earlier versions. Don't compare it with league whatever year it is
Reason Why👉👉 - Some pro players committed that people buy compendium just to support us and increase pool prize and not for cosmetic item/Arcana etc.
For that reason valve brought TI compendium with no cosmetic skin just to see weather people still support pro players 😅
what is the source of this claim? link?
@@Gdg195 watch that link i just sent.. Anyways maybe valve will release Arcana after the TI.
@zaheed3 gaben got my money if hero bb np got arcana 😂😜
Meanwhile FGC players be competing over a new controller
I really dont understand the dota is dying thing... like its been going on for almost 8 years now
If they don't give anything, they only gave some cards that are of no use. I won't spend money on something I don't like, other years they put things at exorbitant prices and suddenly they delete it. They pass the game, it seems that they have 3 programmers all year round. trash
You can't buy a bread with 3 mil $ nowadays.
Every one seems to forgot, they had said the TEAM FOR COMPEDIUM HAS OTHER THINGS TODO FOR THIS YEAR, SORRY !
Riyadh masters 2023 was also a dota 2 tournament so its 9/11 or 9 out of the top 10 biggest prize pools
The prizepool 10 years ago in TI3 was 3mil as well. But the problem is 3million is way less money now due to inflation, so its more like 1,5mil.
You mean to tell me they made over 40$ million in 1st hour of CS2 release, but cant match previous Dota 2 prize pools?
Life is just harder nowadays, Dota will not die.
dota 2 made the decision this year that hardcore players have been waiting for (moving earnings towards improving gameplay not cosmetics)
For me, it's cuz today's online games have progressive reward. Like Valorant have free reward in their battlepass and premium reward if we buy, but the important thing is the battlepass keeps continue as one's end, the new one come. But in Dota, the battlepass was annual as a TI held. And that makes some players only play Dota again when there's a new battlepass, and if the battle pass sucks, then see ya next battlepass. But in some game like Valo u want to keep play cuz of that progressive rewards, so it's getting daily played. While dota was like "Is there new patch? Is the new battlepass good?" When both questions got answered as "nope", like i said before, see ya until next (new something).
Plus they removed recaps and true sight making people who like to watch highlights and not able to watch full games feel left out.
TI Isnt cost effective marketing for the game. Doesnt mean the game is dying. Game is fun.
And no mention about riyadh major. The price was on par w/ ti10
This was the first time I bought the compendium and boy was I disappointed
The scoreEsports are Riot's dogs.
And u are valve dog for free xd
They might be paid but you are not paid? IRL Skill Issue
I have only purchased the first 50 levels. For me, it's a sense of additional stamp on my profile.
Thanks Icefrog for adding shitty update and killing the TI hype.
good to know thescoreesports knows literally nothing about esports. Very informative thank you
Pretty sure everyone only bought the compendium for special cosmetics and sound packs. If they've taken most of that away.. No surprise that way less people buy it. I'm not going to either 😂
valve focusing compendium to esports scene yet only 25% of the sales goes to the prize pool is stupid move... although i still bought the compendium because they promise a arcana but they should raise it to 50-75% and maybe people will actually buy the compendium with no in-game cosmetics....
That 40 million dollar prize pool international was epic
Dota is dying....lol. idk why people think this game is dying/dead. When it has clearly gained more players.
Idk the dota dying has been a thing for like almost 8 years now... its the one thing people say when they dont want or disagree with what valves does.. best not to take it seriously
😂 people keep saying online cosmetics are useless. Valve removes them and ya'll still complaining. Wtf
Its because casual players contribute to the prize pool by buying battle passes, and this year, it sucks
Pleasantly surprised you guys made some content on Dota, even if it is just a short. But then... it's about the prize pool being small. Why?
I enjoyed you guys' Dota content so much, especially the interview with Slacks. There's been a ton of big updates this year. Maybe you could have talked about them banning 40,000 cheaters or recently 90,000 smurfs, and how those problems persist in other games?
Well, TI is in a few days. Hope to see something about it. Cheers!
They are league fans.
Nah they need to cover cs2 and valorant again... and also bad timing since League worlds started already
Pro players who are qualified for this TI doesnt feel the tournament too.
This years TI production is superb
yea a prize pool split between placed team on the rankings and on top they have ALOT of expenses to pay for.
Last time I saw this channel comment on Dota was TI5 years ago. Either talk about Dota or ignore it like you have been. Or just shit on a game whenever you see something bad enough to comment on… super representative of the game👍🤫
sounds much but there is actualy a lot of people that the winner has to share the price! Coaches training house, staff, and ofc the managers the sponsor team! Traveling plane tickets etc! Not mentioning tax!
i cant even type to my team mate during a game. why the fook would i pay money for that
Its compendium matters. If Battle pass Release Probably the prize will be higher than we expect.
i load up but was not interested this yr compedium
At first I was excited since they also stated, they'll focus more on other events/updates for Dota so it wouldn't be just ONE HUGE drop of content around TI and I didn't expect much from the compendium this year because of that.
Mainly since it's the big change, it's gonna need at least ONE "test run" before they are gonna find a way to balance it out, but I must admit ... the compendium is lacking any reason to buy apart from really just throwing your money at Valve and hope your favorite team wins the money you just sort of threw away.
I don't necessarily NEED 2000 levels of battlepass to unlock anything, quite the opposite I was hoping there's gonna be another way to unlock 'em... just some little challenges to roll for a reward, cavern crawl or some PVE event or simply just win games like with the anniversary content not so long ago.
But alas, there's literally nothing.
Screw the cosmetics, but literally NO content ... apart from BINGO! 😎
the esports scene is for sure dying most of the top players are now retired and theres barly any competion between regions. 80% of the teams in ti this year are EU and CIS, China and NA have all but left the scene.
Don't be shocked if you give less you get less
Honestly yeah this one seems real mild this year
Valve really F'ed this one up. A big prize pool brought players back to the game, and generated hype that brought in new players. It was also funded BY PLAYERS. They made money off of it (25%).
This was the first year I didn't buy a battle pass, and I know plenty of people who usually spend hundreds each year who also decided it wasn't worth it.
i mean cosmetics are the only reason why ppl buy compendium
Valve always took a ridiculous cut in my opinion
dota2 is number 1 moba games and it's not dying, just a bad battle pass 2023
Riyadh Masters is the new TI(prizepool wise)
That’s for fixing something that is not broken
Wait, Dota's tiniest little TI prize pool in over a decade is STILL bigger than League of Legends' Worlds prize pool? Yikes, lol.
And league has 10x more salary for players dota should do same cuz only like 50 dota pros a year make good money
@@KidTrigger Ah, the good old League embellished salaries. Yawn. League fans constantly mix up buyouts with contracts, then again what do you expect from the fanboys who legitimately believe that over 80 million people watch Worlds every year LMAO.
But yes, on average I'm sure League players make more from contracts, seeing as how dota pre covid had TI and 5-7 majors per year with a million dollar prize pool each. Dota prize pools have historically pooped all over League's paltry amounts, so one would hope League makes up the difference with contracts.
I remember people shitting on me sayong TI is the best tournament because of prize pool. Now we come to this, is TI still the best tournament? I don’t think so.
i dunno how much valve was getting before but currently getting a cut from that $3m is just.. painful xD good job nerfing yourselves valve
Ryadh Dota 2 Masters in July was 15 MIL $....yes..so dead 😂
when u put a retaed lol player comes to not buying the battlepass = game dying
Why buy compendium which only gives trash items and cheap ass immortals
there was never a requirement to have a 40 million dollar prize pool for pro DOTA play.
Update: Today 26 june 2024.
Valve coocked so hard at crownfall that i feel blessed to be a Dota player. (Unlike the time i had in league).Dota subreddit is full of Dev appreciation posts. world is all butterflys.
Extra note: fu riot
The regular dota player dreams of being best in the world. And weve always been broke. The money is extra.
Don't bite the hand that feed you...
Whatever the prize pool or any other shit I don't think I'll stop playing this game that's the kind of addiction it brings, unless they make vaccines which will satisfy your urge of playing lol
Before Valve launch Battle Pass around May that's why the price pool is big,but now Compendium was introduce September so expected the Price money will be way low!Valve wants the bigger piece of the Pie😂
If you look on the outside it looks like its dying. But when you actually look into it, the players are increasing and its better than ever.
Cmon man who was a 30$ loading screen and a sticker with some wheel chat ?
Even the saudi price rejected valve this year.
I mean its still massive, but on the other hand, all the changes, bugs, the compendium - all these things stack and will influence the prize pool massively. Compared to 40 mil $, that's nothing.
NO BP = NO PRIZE POLL
Gonna tell you why they did this, it’s cuz people were crying about it, that Dota is about cosmetics. So this year they are selling bad compendium, so they can double sell the good one next year)
3 mil minus 2-16th place cut - minus expenses divided by team. Not alot.
$3 mill shared among players and their team. For the highest skilled players in the world that's actually nothing. Especially compared to the $40 mill it was a couple years ago.
Are we not gonna talk about the $800 tickets for the finals and $100 for just the playoffs? 😂
Well it doesnt matter to me if i win TI dis year like Team Spirit , cause all i want actually my name being in the history the winner of TI . Its mean you and ur team are the best player in TI , the money just a bonus to me . Man i wish i can play at TI or watch TI someday .
My biggest and most well spent investment is still the windranger arcana
Gaben just dont got it anymore 😂
It's not dying, it's just this year compendium freaking sucks. That's why nobody wants to buy it, hence the low prize pool.
FGC couldn't touch 1% of what MOBA s make
its not dying the prize pool is just based on the battle pass incomes, and they didnt do a battle pass this year they just did a shit compendium
