I have to agree as former resistance members said you never know how you will act.Most of the time civilian people had more bravery than trained specialists.More important was keep out hands of Gestapo at any cost. The worst things was cooperation with nazi.These guys certainly haven't made the worst.

An interesting film in one respect.
These men do not deserve the title 'Soldier'.
Not their fault.
Whoever decided they were ready for front line action should be demoted.
They are a fine example of what happens with the worst trained infantry.
That's a point of view... But a Soldier does what a Soldier is told to do....
Dad's outfit Companies A-M of the 32nd.Division were trained for open country warfare to fight Rommel's troops in N. Africa....last minute decision put em in the Jungle of New Guinea...no training at all for jungle warfare...learn as you go against seasoned Japanese SOLDIERS as you say....
PS... eleven minutes into this all that snow and mountain...I'd take the jungle any day of the year
I believe you genuinely missed the premise of the story, we too had American troops that expose very same type of instances during WW II, spending 27 years in both the Marine Corps and Army Special Forces shell shock still exist, it's just better understood today.

In the description it states that brasil was the only Latin American country to sent troops in ww2 . It seems I recall that mexico had a p-47 squadron on active duty in the Pacific
Mexico sent the expedition air force squadron 201 and an additional infantry assault force.
Yes, there were Chileans, Argentines, Uruguayans, Mexicans, among others, all volunteers trained by the United States. But it is different from sending thousands of soldiers to war, as Brazil did.

this brings tears , its been long time ago ,however its pity's that history is about to repeat ,I was choking and feel isolated, think the innocent who will be a victim of big fish, some people might think its fun but its serious than ever, since biblical decades, Roman kingdom ,1st,2rd world war, till to day there's was no peace,People's were greedy to land and mountain they have never had any pieces of effort to create ,same story nowadays greedy for power.........you can see what Ukraine is facing, you can imagine what island like Taiwan is under extremely tension,.....see Palestine issues..,Ethiopia,khashimill etc ,its 😟 than yesterday, its harder to imagine what tomorrow will be look like ?, we are doomed its inevitable to repeat the history.....😔😔😔 is that I'm too emotional?

A division is around 10 000 - 15 000 men. So two divisions probably.

based on a true story, if i was a military personal i would not want people to hear about my stupidity and bad decision making. to let the german get up and walk away right if front of them. would anyone want others to know about all these mistakes
yes. The whole point is to show that they aren't perfect. Look at what the colonel was doing..... only good press... only lies allowed to be printed. Only alternate facts... false ones, allowed. I'm sure they made out the truth was fake news. The only ones that win when the government controls the news and lies to us and then presents us with lies... the only winner here when our quality of information degrades to garbage and real news is not trusted... the only winner is our enemies. Only traitors do things like this. Allow the enemy to win.

@Major Fiasco You missed my point. Completely apparently. I have a silver star. I earned it by doing something that at the time struck me as the right thing to do. Apparently somebody thought i did something i should not have, that others would not have ? Far as i'm concerned anybody in my boat would have done the same. Anyways. I don't trust government much. When some loser gets into office and pretty much admits they are feeding you fake news. And then the same loser attempts to use this fake news to start a rebellion. The news quality must be good. We must pass laws guaranteeing that what the people get for information... IS ACCUARATE. Not fake. If the military sees fit to with hold something then they have a reason. Usually a good one. But if the news gets out then they are in the shit because they are going to get caught doing it. That is what that is. And of course.... when you are hiding something..... the truth ALWAYS gets out. We here in the US are in a war of information. One side is mostly true. The other is mostly not true. That used to be a bit more balanced in that it was true to a point or true about certain points... incomplete. But we don't have incomplete. We have out right Bull Shit and that is causing what could be a civil war.... OVER BULL SHIT. That has to stop. And if that means hanging a certain former president... then it does. I even voted for the guy. Once. Only once. Then i promptly kicked his ass out. Because of what i saw. I saw the enemy in charge.

These guys were not soldiers, cowards comes to mind!
This could have been a really great movie because the storyline was real & believable but unfortunately, the dialogue & acting was horrendous & at times made absolutely no sense. ( The Italian guy couldn't understand one guy's English but could clearly understand the other guy's English. That's just stupid.) Also, I've never heard of an army abandoning their headquarters/position & leaving all their maps behind hanging on the walls for the enemy to find & exploit. Could have been a great movie.
