Excellent video comparison! I'm considering upgrading my cameras to the 8mp colorvu DS-2CD2387G2-L(U) as I don't really need the added alarm or strobe. Is there any other brand of camera that's POE/Turret Case/8mp with no IR (24/7color) that outperforms these cameras? It seems these are 30fps (I'd love a 60fps) and the pro series with 12mp need 12v power so are not POE. These 8mp colorvu are about $380 each here in Canada which isn't bad. I'm just starting to learn more about these cameras. Thanks again!
Once you upload the above video in 1080p quality we no longer see the real differences between 4MP and 8MP, to see 8MP quality the video must be in 4K quality. Thank you though!
If the colorvu 8mp has a bigger sensor (1/1.2”) then the dark fighter 8mp (1/1.8”) then why does the colorvu have a smaller fov for the same lens size (2.8mm)?
1/1.2” = 0.83” and 1/1.8” = 0.55” therefore 1/1.2” is bigger than 1/1.8”. To further back what I’m saying the 2385 was a 1/2.4” with 102 fov then when it went to 1/1.8 for the 2386 the fov went to 111. But now with the bigger sensor it’s back to 102 degrees which doesn’t make sense. I believe they are not actually using a 2.8mm but maybe something closer to 3.2mm but it wouldn’t fit in line with their marketing.
Hi Brett - you are correct and i was to quick, i allready knew the ColorVu had a bigger sensor and a much bigger lens, which also i the reason for the difference in the price. This also means the F-number (Aperture) is 1.0 - and on the 2386 its only 1.6
@@ipcam-shop but aperture doesn’t affect field of view, it just collects more light, it’s a great camera and I’m more than happy with it but I just think something in the specs is wrong and it’s not the sensor size or fov (compared to the 2385 it replaced (also 102), it’s almost identical fov)
If that was a serious question then the zoom was done on the recorded footage using the zoom function on the player application used. If not then you got me to type this out for nothing...haha
Great video can i ask did you have the white light on while using the colour vu 8 are was there enough light in car park for you not to use it also can the light be turned off
Hi. As an independent home user I can tell you the light can be turned on or off. You can also adjust when it comes on. Depending how dark it is. And also you can adjust how bright it is. You just need to know what your DVR’s IP address is. Then type it in to your laptop search bar which will take you to the DVR setting page. As long they’re both connected to the same WiFi Router.
They use InfraRed light, which does not reproduces colors. If you want color at night (camera autonome), you need a camera with white light or with sufficient support light or sourrounding light to get an image in color. Does it make sense?
For a home installation to cover a front door and drive away of about 7 meters are people using 2.8mm lens rather than a 4mm lens... i feel a wide angle lens is more suited for this job.
Yes i believe the 2.8 would be the better choice... You could check the DORI for each camera and see if the specs/details are sufficient for your demand 😀
Yes, I currently have a 4mm in the same place as you describe and its FOV is too narrow and only covers half the drive. Going to get a 2.8mm to replace just can't decide on Colorvu or not.
That’s all well and good, a lovely picture with zoom. But moot if it’s not detecting and alerting you to motion reliably! What I need and I’m sure 99% other customers need is accurate and reliable motion detection. **Which of these two technologies offers better motion detection please??** My current Colorvue will still miss roughly 1/5 detections of me leaving my front door or returning. 1/5 times it will fail to detect me walking down the path to my front door. (And that’s with line detection Set to 1, and intrusion detection set to 90%) in ADM not in Basic settings. So which of these two systems is better for motion alerts please, with less false alarms.. Thanks kindly..
Hi JayKay - yes which is better? Under normal circumstances i would choose the ColorVu 4K, as it has the bigger sensor and 1.0 aperture. But actually it al comes down to the installation and environment. For the camera to work best, you should consider distance (lens*4 in meters) and installation height and angle to target. I have the best results using linecross if target is crossing sideways, that is from left to right and vice versa. You are welcome to send some pictures to us at support@ipcam-shop.dk and i can give you some advice. Pls. mark ATT Chris.

Hi Brett
I agree, but the size of the lens do, do you not agree?
is ur ColorVU 8 megapixel is varifocal? how do you zoom it? what is the part number of that?
No its fixed lens. We have, for now, only varifocal 4MP colorvu. DS-2CD2647G2-xxxxx is varifocal... DS-2CD2387G2-LSU/SL is the one in the video :D

4mm you see more sharper

Which cams are these, ptz or standard
Hi, it's just conventional fixed lens cameras 🙂
Good comparison 😊
wifi or IP here thru a pc program. need to compare with android phone usage.
Hi, its through IP - and iVMS4200
Is the colorful 4mp poc
Yes it's PoE - not PoC as it's a IP camera :)
Er det bare mig eller mangler lyden?
Det er bare dig :)
For der skal slet ikke være lyd på da det er en sammenligning af billederne. Jeg laver nogle nye videoer MED lyd snarest :D
