I’m guessing part of it is it’s hotter. Temp can seriously affect it. I have a 2001 corvette in winter I get around 4.5 - 4.6 0-60. But in the summer when it’s 100 out I get like 5 - 5.2 0-60. Also with my dragy I get invalid runs all the time if the road isn’t flat. Hope that helps. My car is pretty stock btw and I live in So Cal.
So bigger tires add rotational weight making the car have to work harder which would slow down your speed. You need to tune the car to max out your torque to get the most of having larger, more gripping tires. Hope this helps
I drive a 1st gen Veloster Turbo and all the Genesis guys in our KDM group get smoked off the line but generally come into the power after 60 really fast. A tune would really help but the Genny's aren't the best off the line, that I've noticed.
Gas weight matters, temperature, wind direction and most importantly, the road you're on. You last recorded by those concrete slabs. May wanna try there again? When I got tuned thats when all of my times seemed to smoothen out and become a lot more consistent.
The transmission doesnt like to be revved up like that. Launch from 0 not 2000. Hold the traction control for 3 seconds until it beeps twice. Then try. With a manual stock i was half a car ahead of a 2014 charger rt. When i did the exhaust, true cold air, throttle body, tires, throttle controller, short shifter and a tune i was pulling low 4s
It’s slower because you put bigger tires and wheels on it if you put smaller tires and wheels in factory you’ll probably get better times because it takes more rotation for the bigger tires then it does smaller tires which equates to slower times
The unfortunate truth is that naturally aspirated cars gain very little from modifications, I learned that the hard way. When younger I spent $2K in upgrades for my Celica GT-S and saw almost zero gains, a year later I spent $800 on an AWD turbo eclipse (catback $600, manual boost controller $50, and upgraded fuel pump $150) and saw great gains in power.
@Jordan Levendusky, tune was done on site. They offered a canned tune for $300 or custom for $600. I opted for the custom. Same gas. No changes done to the engine including no flywheel, manifold riser, intake, etc. Catback exhaust and tune is it for the moment.
@Jordan Levendusky, Alphaspeed is on the west coast I believe? I live on the East Coast and SFR is an hour away from me. I didn't want to go with option is shipping the ECU and rather have had it done in person with a custom tune.
Something wrong. I want to blame the road itself because you need smooth surface but maybe it's the new tires too. But yeah even BK1s are faster than that.
The more mods without a tune can make the car slower especially with a hot air intake, you’re asking for a rod to come out lol. Also you need a tcu tune on that auto. Revving to 6500 vs 7200 is a night and day difference!
Don't be bumped out. More mods can affect how the car performs. Mod's don't really start making huge difference till you get the Tune. Then you'll see a big difference.
Bigger/wider Wheels/tires equals more rotating mass, equals slower... GET YOUR ALIGNMENT DONE!!! These are temperamental about they're alignment, loose is/feels a lot quicker but your always on the edge of loosing it, but it does hook and book(Drag strip mode). And if it's dialed in and within a hundredth of the center of tolerance, it will have just a bit of tire spin on hot asphalt but the car feels completely stable at "any" speed, on a race track of course :D. Plus other mods that aren't tuned, and the hot air intake like mentioned below. I bought the K&N 69-5310TS, and never had any loss, my only measured 0-60 was 5.23 seconds. But my best quarter mile run was 13.122 @ 113.4Mph. 2013 3.8 Track 8 speed, running 245/40/19 BFGoodrich Comp 2 Plus all season on the rear, Stock Bridgestone front tires, I now have 49K miles on it and it's on its 5th set of rear tires, General G-Max AS-03 245/40/19 installed October 2016, I love these tires it's just too bad they don't make them anymore. I had parked the car in the garage November 2016 and because of life and kids it sat in there until September 2022, grabbed a battery and 5 gal of premium and pulled it out, and now it's kinda back to it's mostly summertime weekend playing, and needless to say I am harder on these tires than I was to all of the previous rears combined and they're holding up way better than I expected... Also try different gas stations, as some aren't very truthful about what the octane/ethanol content is. Then get some CRC GDI intake valve cleaner, or whatever other brand you prefer that makes a similar product and follow the directions, maybe read them all first then do what it says... I got my Genesis brand new, and other than a battery and an alignment 2 or 3 times a year, it's been a great car, Anyways I hope your still enjoying your Genesis!!!
It is ok to floor it on S/D but not recommend. It's sooooo wrong to let off the throttle after a pull in S/D, you're damaging the car that way. Use full manual mode at all time. Also, you cant expect a good time if you dont set the gear you want to start a rolling pull, you should hold it at 4.5 RPM or 5, then floor it. When you let off the throttle on auto modes S or D, the gearbox slams into next and next gears without compression on the torque converter and load to the gearbox, that damages the gear.
Not true at at. I have the bk2 genesis coupe 2.0t with the same trans but mine has 411whp with big turbo setup and meth. I track my genesis a lot. Over 100 passes down the strip. Trans is fine. I don't always use the "manual" mode either. If you let off the gas it will just upshift like it would with daily driving. By your logic daily driving is bad for the car 😅🤣
The folks talking about getting a tune are probably right on the money but 0 to 60 isn’t the whole picture. It may have a higher top end or midrange because of the mods. The power curve is different now I’m sure. Genesis aren’t exactly lightweights nor do they have awd either but 0 to 60 isn’t the be all, end all of performance. That said, yeah, modern cars, especially Genesis coupe need a tune to be their best.

My friend there are a lot of variables that can affect your time. When is temperature elevation. Also I have a dragy as well they recommend that you mount it front to back not left to right. Worst of all it isn't unusual for mods to not work or make things worse. Another question would be is your fuel tank full was it full when you got your best times. Or was it close to empty?
I have a 2.0t bk1 and it do think you need to tune yours I have cat back exhaust k&n thypoon intake and a turbo xs bov and ngk spark plugs hope you get her faster I would hope to see it in your next vid
hi, i know its late, the issue is the tire and wheel package, bigger tires and bigger rins usually means more weight, and is the total diameter is more than 3.5% of the original size the car being more slower in acceleration
I also have a genesis coupe 3.8 and one of the problem with mine is the temperature the ecu in the genesis goes crazy when the temperature goes up even making you car slower than stock maybe you wanna try buying a cold air intake from 3p8 performance
I just noticed this now but you might notice a bigger difference with more gas. You were close to empty even when first starting. I would try again with a full tank of premium
It depends idk what you have done to it but I know it depends on which headers you add to your car. Some headers you’ll gain more low end power and lose more top it , with others you may gain more top end power but lose more low end. Not sure if you’ve done headers but maybe the reason it’s slower before lol . Nice car tho

Mine has a bunch of bolt one and I need to take it to PA to have it tuned because im only running mid 14s at the track with the 3.8 and thats almost a second slower than it should be running. Somethings wrong. Lol
I think the heat is your enemy here. My Geni Performs best if cooler weather. As do all naturally aspirated engines. What was the temp in your original runs
Nice car man, just dont understand how it has over 300ps and cant reach 0-60 in less than 6 sec... Horrible engeneering for a 3.8 liter. I had BMW f30 328i xDrive and it could make 0-60 around 5.6 sec with 245ps
itll never be apples to apples. you did not tune based off what i see that alone is hurting you its probably running lean not only that if the temp outside isnt the same the humidity isnt the same and the barometric pressure isnt the same or damn close you will not have the same oxygen levels. you can litterally be running on a hotter day with higher humidity with low pressure so oxygen is low vs your stock run where everything could have lined up to perform.

I have a 2015 3.8 ultimate and I never do this. Sometimes I get it to 4-5k rpm and its fun. Maybe ur car was faster before you killed it.
I have a 2.0t bk1 and it do think you need to tune yours I have cat back exhaust k&n thypoon intake and a turbo xs bov and ngk spark plugs hope you get her faster I would hope to see it in your next vid
You should remake this video now with the mods that you currently have
Warm them damn tires up boiiiii
You need to tune it plus bigger tires can slow it down its not slow at all
hi, i know its late, the issue is the tire and wheel package, bigger tires and bigger rins usually means more weight, and is the total diameter is more than 3.5% of the original size the car being more slower in acceleration
Should I get this or a SI 2020?
Remnant performance sells turbo kits for $3,300. I’m getting mine In January 😈😈😈
How is it?
I also have a genesis coupe 3.8 and one of the problem with mine is the temperature the ecu in the genesis goes crazy when the temperature goes up even making you car slower than stock maybe you wanna try buying a cold air intake from 3p8 performance
Whats the app you are using for your testing
Its the dragy app but you have to have the dragy device as well
Is your wheel and tire set up more heavier than the stock?
I just noticed this now but you might notice a bigger difference with more gas. You were close to empty even when first starting. I would try again with a full tank of premium
It's 84 degrees out and it's pretty damn hot
Me in Texas working construction in 109 degrees every day 🧐
How often are you guys having relays fail?
what kind of headlights and taillights do you have installed they’re super cool might but them
Spec D Tail lights and stock headlights!
Can a bk2 beat a g37 sedan stock for stock?
Hot air will cost you power. Try it in the day and then the evening
Are your new wheels the same overal size, rolling radious
The new wheels are bigger actually, but they are lighter
Weight ??
It depends idk what you have done to it but I know it depends on which headers you add to your car. Some headers you’ll gain more low end power and lose more top it , with others you may gain more top end power but lose more low end. Not sure if you’ve done headers but maybe the reason it’s slower before lol . Nice car tho
How fast has 3point8 performance been on responding to any questions you might have had in the past? I'm wanting to get a tune from them in the future and sent them two messages with some questions through their website a few weeks ago without a response, I'm sorry that if this is a little off topic for your channel but I see that a lot of your parts come from them so I thought I could ask someone with better experience with them. Love your videos and the progress you've made on your car, looking to get there with mine someday.
Have you tried dming them on instagram? That's where I've talked to him before! I appreciate your support bro seriously!
@@GenesisCoupeHUB I don't have one at the moment so I was really hoping they would reply over email, thank you for getting back to me, love seeing your channel growing keep up the awesome work man!
Where did u get the side skirts?
with stock ecu, try launching it from 2nd gear
I did at one point in the video
You gotta launch it from 2.5k if you launch out of second or you will bog. It works.
Let that rpm rip don’t be scared it can handle it
Is it better to get it in manual or automatic? I'm debating on grabbing a 3.8
What are the specs on those wheels and tires?
I thought they say new cars anytime you add mods..it useless without a tune..some say if you added 6 different mods at once then tune it'll be totally different car
If it had a backup camera I’d definitely buy it but since I don’t know how to park backwards without the camera, I may have to get a g37s coupe instead.
How about you just learn to drive and get a real car
Zachariah Coates nahhh bro I’m straight
@@YouLoveNang practice makes perfect I use to be scared to back up park now I do it with ease
Alphaspeed tune it 👌🏽 you’ll see more gains.
How's the gas milage for a daily?
Do these things have a sport drive mode?
Yes!
what tires are you running? and are you turning off your abs? times are terrible lol
Firestone Firehawk indy 500s and yea. I know lmao I dont get it
@@GenesisCoupeHUB those tires arent very good. reccomend federal 595 rs, continental extrm sports, mechilen p sport4s and your rpm is low for a good launch need to launch at 3k atleast.
Did you buy cheap tires? That could be the problem for the slower 0-60 time
No he actually has good tires
I've got Firestone FireHawk Indy 500s, from everything I've seen and heard they are good tires
Have you compensated for altitude, weather, etc?
No but it was basically the same road condition and altitude as the last time I tested it however it was way hotter this time around
Hey, what rims you got and what size 19'?
ESR RF2 and yes 19s!
thanks! i just got a bk2 R-Spec and i fall in love with your rims also keep up the good content💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Shoulda timed it the same way you did last time.
I did
Probably not enough backpressure from the new exhaust on the stock tune
Man these are suppose to run 0-60 at an average of 5.2 seconds..not sure why pretty much a full second slower. Probably needs tuned. Mine has a bunch of bolt one and I need to take it to PA to have it tuned because im only running mid 14s at the track with the 3.8 and thats almost a second slower than it should be running. Somethings wrong. Lol
What size wheels?
I think the heat is your enemy here. My Geni Performs best if cooler weather. As do all naturally aspirated engines. What was the temp in your original runs
Can you drop you apple carplay radio?
60mph right ?
If you put on giant wheels.. you changed your gear ratio.. keep the stock diameter
heavier tires heavier wheels maybe more gas, weight makes a difference
Maybe before this you’re not using the same tracker to track 0-60 time, that’s why . Maybe the previous tracker is not accurate .
No last time I used the dragy as well so im not sure what it could be
ethanW damn.................
What city are you in
The low rpms suck bro. Im sorry, we arent quick like that
Nice car man, just dont understand how it has over 300ps and cant reach 0-60 in less than 6 sec... Horrible engeneering for a 3.8 liter. I had BMW f30 328i xDrive and it could make 0-60 around 5.6 sec with 245ps
Do you have your spare wheel on too?
Yea I had it in, I cant remember if I had it in before or not, im gonna have to look into that honestly
how come ur car wasn’t popping as much
It only really pops when I make it, it will occasionally when I downshift but not that often
itll never be apples to apples. you did not tune based off what i see that alone is hurting you its probably running lean not only that if the temp outside isnt the same the humidity isnt the same and the barometric pressure isnt the same or damn close you will not have the same oxygen levels. you can litterally be running on a hotter day with higher humidity with low pressure so oxygen is low vs your stock run where everything could have lined up to perform.
2:00 bro i was wondering why is the car shifting up without your hands moving and then i realized its an automatic 🤮🤮
