Thank you. I have been trying to find something that spoke about more than just puberty. It seems many people think adolescence is nothing more than genital formation. It is so much more, which is what I teach my students, but I really wanted a video to support my voice in the classroom.

Im 22 and felt like I never experienced what I should have. No breakups/relationships, very little risk taking, overbearing parents, exposure to porn before puberty, etc. I dont see myself as unattractive but I just cant relate to people my age. Not sure what to do to be honest.

I really liked this! It's so strange to know that I'm still in my adolescence but I'm no longer a teenager. Very common misconception, haha. Parents are extremely vital and they have the potentiality to influence their child positively and negatively. Our environment plays so much more than a role than we think! We can be predisposed to certain genes even before birth, and that these genes though carried, still have the possibility of it being expressed or not-knowing that your environment plays such a significant role in activating those very genes is crazy cool! But very, very important.

I like that one of the first misconceptions addressed is about what ages encompass adolescence. A lot of people seem to think it ends once you’re 20 or even younger, but adolescence kinda merges into emerging adulthood and early adulthood.

Hardest years of my life everybody was on my @$$ about everything. I hated those years & nearly hated everybody was on my @$$ all the damn time. Always jumping me about something. Felt like everybody to nail me to the cross. ✝ Crucify Me for crying all out loud.

That was what my adolescence was like. Kids need support and validation in such a difficult phase of their development otherwise they won't grow up to be mentally healthy.people.

The claim that teenagers "lack cognitive control " or are immature is also a myth

It really threw me to hear a professor of psychology mispronounce the word "neurobiology".

Adolescence doesn't last into the mid 20's. Society likes to extend it for as long as possible.

It can though. Or at least it often lasts through the college years
