      Enlightenment brought western civilization;
Ideas centered around REASON as the primary source of authority
      Liberty
      Progress
      Tolerance
      Fraternity
      Constitutional governance
      Separation of church and state
      Individual liberty
      Religious tolerance
      Emphasis on the Scientific method
      Skepticism
Is closely associated with scientific revolution
American revolution & resulting constitution & 3 part govt structure
      French Revolution & resulting constitution
      Scientific empiricism
      Natural philosophy
      Liberalism
      Economic liberty
      Against authoritarianism
      Against irrationality
      Against obscurantism
      Critical religious orthodoxy
      American Declaration of Independence
      Philosophers include;
      Frances Bacon
      Descartes
      Locke
      Spinoza
      Newton
      Beccaria
      Diderot
      Hume
      Kant
      Montesquieu
      Rousseau
      Adam Smith
      Voltaire
      Benjamin Franklin
      Thomas Jefferson
      Thomas Paine
      James Madison
      George mason
      James mason
      Alexander Hamilton
      Ethan Allen
      William Smith
      Jared Eliot
      Rittenhouse
      George Washington
      And so on ect, etc.
Until enlightenment humans were glorified barbarians even with agriculture (agriculture was perhaps one of the single most important moments in human history for sure).

That's actually one of my favorite poems. Although you didn't say the whole thing. , I memorised that poem 20 years ago and I've never forgotten a word. A.E.Waite , it was part of the Irish Litterature Revival movement and is related to Shin Fein and Clan Na-Gael

    • @danfield6030

Blown away. I've never heard anyone else say those words , exept me and Waites words written by himself in a book. If I hadn't read Robert Graves "The White Goddess" , I wouldn't fully understand that poem. His exeedingly romantic idea of the Goddess taking n human form for a while , like for a time a woman you fall in love with become an actual incarnation of the goddess for you. But as time goes in a relationship can fall apart , and this is the destructive aspect of the ancient Irish Triple Goddess he discusses ...her three forms are , a mother , giving birth to you and protecting you , and a lover , and the a hag , the destructive aspect ...an ancient Irish idea.

To a Christian it is. But there have been many ages of enlightenment, actually. Those before Judaic theology, like Hinduism, Taoism and the Eastern philosphies. Your Christian age was an age of enlightenment as well. However, we've undergone development since then and such methods are past their prime. We've already learned the lessons and mistakes of these.
We as humans are now moving on and if you want to come with us, you too can transcend towards a new age of enlightment coming very soon.

I believe EarthSurfer, that you're too strictly following deductive logic and blinding yourself to inductive logic.
I believe it can be determined that the hidden premise is to state that it's the beginning of the extinction of our species.
This may be an interesting view, as the industrial revolution and modern progresses in the sciences can all be traced back to the enlightenment, and that these "advancements" are driving us towards many foreseen problems, such as the acceleration of climate change and mass extinction of many species due to modern tools and transportation, these problems may in turn effect us profoundly and, though in my eyes this outcome is very unlikely, may lead to the extinction of our species.
Thereby, though I disagree with his view, I believe his view is that the enlightenment was the beginning of the, yet to approach, end of our species.

Did they just write mountains of books and invent a bunch of weird stuff and simpler people just came in like “wtf is this dude doing”. Or did they go to the head of staff in their colleges saying “Throw out all that old crap, check this sh!t out” 😂 i wish backwards time travel were physically possible, we would have so many gaps in information filled.
