Hey Matt, one year ago I was unemployed and thanks to you, I now have a new career. I started building some of your dog kennels and farm house tables and some other things which eventually led to me doing handyman work. I started my own business that has taken off pretty well. Prior to watching your videos, I couldn't even read a tape measure! Anyways, just want to say thanks and glad to see you and yours really taking off! God bless you brother
Thank you. That’s amazing to hear!!
congratulations and well done.
Awesome to hear that someone is doing good.
I, myself just got out of a dead end job and got my construction business up and running.
It's very satisfying knowing the home owner is happy with my work ( or well, anyone that buys a service or product from you)....
Again, awesome to hear!!
Do you have a website that I could look at???
Wow Matt.from pocketholes to dominos.your standards has sky rocket.impressive build.cudos to you wow!!!!
Timing is amazing, I just received my domino!!
Dallas, Woohoo! That’s where I’m at! Table looks awesome!! Congrats ,Festool Domino is $1,000 plus. a custom table with delivery , that’s even trade lol 😂
Amazing build. The final product is beautiful. The video was well done. This may be my favorite project video ever - and that is saying a lot. Keep up the great work.
And not a single pocket hole! Don't know whether to be shocked or proud! Beautiful work, brother!
lol thanks
I'd love one of those Fesstool Dominos, but daaaaang...they are proud of 'em. ;-) Good job on the table. Looks great!
Getting better every time! Awesome video and project! Thanks for the new tips
Great looking table, Matt. Thanks for the video.
WOW Matt, This came out so good, amazing!
Outstanding build been watching you from the start and you have taken it to a whole new level in the last few months great job.
Thanks for your help saving RUclips, we need more like you
Beautiful table Matt! Great application of the dominos - I didn't really know what they were for prior to watching you assemble this piece - you demonstrated the alignment use very well! Thank you!
My man has started with hardwood! That table looks so good man!
The table turned out to be very nice. I think it will fit well into the interior of a country house. I also dream of making a table or bedside table with jewelry handles or other fittings.
I like your shirt, as being saved by God from God for God,is cool to see someone else but in RUclips showing their way of living and helping others. This is cool. God bless I will be doing this very same piece but with screw from your other video.
That table is gorgeous
Perfect timing, I account for 100's of views of the original build video of this as I'm currently building my own. You read my mind Matt! I've been wanting a retake of this build video for an age :). Thanks man! Virtual fist bump right back at cha' from the UK :). Will post photo's in the Facebook group when finished. Many happy accidents occurred lol
I liked the spirit level straight edge trick, thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Hey Matt, thanks for including the paint overspray issue in the video. You know, I know, we all know that the DIY Nation out here will fall prey to those sorts of mistakes at some point in our wood working endeavors... Great video!
painters tape is a sick tip
wow gorgeous table! Great tip on In & Out when jointing boards, going to try that on my next build for sure! Thanks Sandy
I’m new to woodworking and I don’t understand in and out when joining boards
Its nice too see ya back in the shop instead of in front on a computer lol
This was so advanced. Wow
That is one really nice coffee table
I really enjoyed this video. You made a fine piece of furniture and I didn't feel like I was watching an infomercial! Thank you very much.
That looks great.
Very nicE. and thank you for showing the oops. Not just a pre done tv show, shows what can happen and how to adjust.
As always great build.
After twenty-seven years working as a 3D modeler/animator in the DOD industry, I`ll be getting laid off the 31st of December. Your channel, you`re faith and attitude... they`ve inspired me to give it a go! Woodworking. This is something I`ve always wanted to do anyway, I`m just thankful that I have resources like yourself to help me along the way! My very best to you and yours, and I`m hoping that 2022 sees your continued growth and prosperity! Cheers!!
You have some of the best shirts
Compared to the original chunky style coffee table video you’ve advanced so much. From spf to walnut top. From pocket holes to dominoes. That walnut top looks beautiful.
Thank you
I really like how you show your mistakes my friend, that shoe us that you are real no like the others wood workers that want us to believe that they walk over water. Keep showing us your art buddy you're awesome.
Great work as always Matt
Thank you
One of the great things about Rubio is that you can sand the area that needs to be fixed and reapply the Rubio. It blends in and doesn't show any discoloration.
Awesome video
Killing it! 👊
Hey Matt, I love all of your build videos. They're very in depth and you leave no stone unturned that may affect the quality of the build. I appreciate you my friend! I can't wait to see how well some of these builds sell around here in Georgia!
I've been slacking on watching your videos.
I've recently gotten my construction business up and running, and been remodeling a house.
Probably have two more after this one.
Hey brother i love how you are not scared to show mistakes. it is from our mistakes we learn and grow. Thank you for another great video.👊
I appreciate that
Him showing mistakes helps me.
Beautiful work!
It's nice to see you working on an actual project like the old days. Please continue, it's why I check your channel everyorning.
Great work Matt - table looks great - nice to use the Domino. 👍🏻
Hola! 🖐 What an awesome build! I think I would have destroyed half the shop out of frustration when that paint landed on a finished table top but you took in stride, good for you hahaha! 😆🤣😂 Those glamour shots of the finished table in that beautiful room looked amazing, great job. Take care and have a good one! 👊
I can't wait to start woodworking.
That's a Beautiful Walnut Coffee Table!
Quite an impressive build, well done! This is my favorite video of yours so far... until the next one.
Wow thanks!
I have been a lowkey follower of yours for a while!! I brings me great pleasure of all the upgraded tools you have gotten. I have been a woodworker since 05' and I have wished you all the tools I have for you. Now next is that track saw!
Table came out awesome!
I'm not saying your table will split but, go watch New Yankee Workshop episode Bedside Table. He glues the breadboard on to his top, now a few decades ago, I built a couple tables like that and followed Norm's instructions. I about a month both tables split right down the middle...lesson learned.
Thanks!
Not sure how I missed this! Sorry for the delayed response but THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Hi Matt, just looking at the way you had to hold the table top while shutting off the saw got me thinking that maybe you could design and make a kick type paddle to hit with either your knee or foot, this way you don't have to release your hands from holding your work while shutting off the saw. I can send you a picture of the one I had designed which works great for me if you want.
Great job Matt!!!!!!
For what its worth, I live in San Francisco. 11 yrs. ago, I made a breadboard end for a cafe table. I simply glued the side grain to end grain, not understanding wood movement. To this day, that table is still being used by that cafe. I looked at it closely 2 yrs. ago, and there was barely visible signs of movement. No serious cracks except at the corner of the table, a small change in height, only detectable by feel. My end was about 2" wide and (7/8) thick.
Good video but even better t shirt at the start 👍👍 Subscribed mate
I’m impressed yo met The Den of Tools 👊🏻 Nice build

Another great build and another great video!
Thanks again!
Enjoy watching you work. Looks awesome.
Thank you
Matt thanks so much for that video, you touched all the important stuff your dialog was very clear easy to follow and your work very impressive. I made a chunky farmhouse coffee table to. I made mine all out of nutty alder since where I live nutty alder is about 2.00 a board feet. I stained my table top dark walnut. I used fasteners to attach the table top too & I used dowls 1" dowls to nake the bread board ends. As soon as budget allows I'm getting a domino jointer much easier to assemble than dowls.
Thanks again Matt.
Thank you
We love it! Thanks so much Matt!
Thank you
That’s some pretty wood love walnut
Great vid as always! Just curious if you've ever discussed the timeframe you give customers for custom projects and how you would go about doing that. Thanks for all you do!!
Hi Matt, I just started working with rough cut lumber and have the DeWALT planer you have. When you shim the lumber on the planer board how do you keep it from moving? Thank you Sir!
The table turned out great!
Very little wood movement occurs if you seal the ends of all wood pieces, as wood only expands if water gets within the vascular tissue.
Light weight easy to remove and dump
I always chalk my mistakes up to God teaching me how to be patient and that the original wasn't the way he wanted it. It seems my mistakes always turn out better than my previous design.
Nicely done Matt ... thank you!
Thank you
Sweet table Matt and great video keep them coming
I love your videos and I love your shirts 😊 I will say, your array of tools is a bit disheartening 🤯 but the finished product looks awesome and is built to last 🥳 great job!
Thanks, I build a VERY similar looking table with much less a couple years ago. linked in description
Hi Matt, great video. Do you have any tips on how to square the fence on a bench top jointer. I just bought mine and I can’t seem to get the in feed and out side of the fence square. I move one side and the other side moves out of square and I go back and forth. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Looks awesome 👏
Thank you
I can imagine your Christmas list has a track saw on it. Your project was amazing and I really enjoyed it. Hopefully in the future you can do a waterfall side table with dowels so I can get a better idea on how to do it.
Thank you. Yes I have one ordered lol
I just made a small knotty pine bread board coffee table top , I glued and doweled it all together , after a ton of sanding , I put minwax stain on it and just got the first coat of poly on it . I think it looks awesome with the grain . My question is do you think it will stay together and look good for a long time . It was kiln dried white pine . I know you talk about wood movement . So I just wanted your opinion. Hope I'm not wasting my time using the pine .
Looks great!
Thank you
I am new to your RUclips channel
Now that you have the Festool Domino, is there any of your other projects that you want to rebuild, like you did the coffee table?
Hey Matt great video. Planning this build and I got your plans off your website. What do you think about doing this table in all walnut?? Laminating will take time tho.....I've got some 8/4 walnut at the kiln now and should be ready end of November. I'd like to build this for my wife's CHRISTmas gift.
Would pocket jig holes be ok for the table tops or would it be best to go out and get dowels?
Is it a bad choice to try making a table top with tongue and groove boards? Any advice is appreciated.
Hey Matt would a biscuit joiner work just as well in place of a dowel or Domino?
Great video bud! Do you have any problem with snipe from the planer? I was given an old planer and it works pretty good except for the bad snipe i get.
How many board feet did you buy for this. I want to try this and wood is crazy expensive so I don't want to buy too much
Hi Matt: I'm confused as to why you used the dowl? Aren't the boards already joined with the domino's? I'm still a beginner with hardly any experience. Thank you and I love your channel.
I found some applicator pads at IKEA in the kitchen area. IKEA has a three pack for under $2.00.
What do you use to scrape the glue? I couldn't hear and I don't think it's listed.
The domino is going to change your whole game. I would recommend that you calibrate the machine. Mine was of by maybe a 32nd when I got it but thats enough to aggravate the snot out of you when you get to finer projects. There are videos out there showing how to do it. Great video as always, thanks
Thank you. I’ll check them out.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be too worried about the dominos as you mentioned many guys have done what you did without issue. I would mention though that these breadboards are pretty wide and prone to cupping when used like this. That’s why b.b’s are normally 3-4” wide. if you make them wide like this it’s wise to inlay c channel in the bottom with elongated slots to help prevent them from cupping. Hopefully you want have an issue on this one though. Also, I was curious about why you said the boards were too long for the jointer, that’s not typically an issue, unless you’ve had specific issues with your table top jointer?
What is the spray and epoxy you use? Thanks
Hey Matt, at the end of your videos can you do a price estimate for how much you would charge per piece that you make?
Great video and explanation. The choice to use douglas fir with walnut is interesting though, why not Ash or another hardwood? I would love a domino tool, very nice to use.
availability mostly
Can you use rubio on wood plaques and signs? What about osmo and oldies oil? Or something better for those type of projects
Yes you can. Odies would be good too
Awesome video, so I'm deciding on building this or your farmhouse end table in the near future. With the x-brace on smaller pieces of wood like the end table, you used a Brad nailer. I don't have one, I do have a kreg pocket hole jig though. What would you recommend to secure the smaller x-brace if I don't have a brad nailer?
you could use finish nails and a hammer
@@731Woodworks lol. I guess I'm the dummy that missed the obvious. I was looking for a lazy/fast way🤣🤣🤣
Love your content. Maybe a newbie question here at the 9:28 mark when working with the jointer, there seems to be an awful lot of horizontal wobble in the back fence. Is that a concern when getting a flat side or as long as the fence remains perpendicular to the jointer blade, the deflection does not effect the joined side? I have the same joiner and am wondering if it impacts co-planer jointing or getting square edges? Is this why the I/O method is used?
I appreciate your response and god bless!
Honestly, I noticed that too when editing but havne't noticed it while using it. I haven't seen any problems with my joined edges being co-planer.
If I’m not mistaken this is the second video of the walnut top?
If I’m right then I was a movement police because in the first video I didn’t see that you used setting 1 and 2 on the dominos which will give you movement room. Guess next time I’ll wait until finish video before I comment 😂. I will restate again that I have enjoyed watching and seeing your woodworking learning process, I always tell people whom I’m teaching woodwork to go and watch you and see how quick and easy it is if you apply yourself. After 40 years of woodworking I learn from everyone even beginners. Keep learning and keep cutting!!
Also, you didn’t use walnut on shelf but as the stretcher because painting? I am same way I just can’t force myself to paint walnut, mahogany or especially cherry!!!!
I couldn’t even used for the stretchers because of the paint it would hurt my feelings😂😂😂
Thanks. I didn’t want to use it on the stretchers either but figured it would give a little more stability. And it’s what I had on hand lol
How many board feet did you use for the build?
Where do you find 4x4’s that aren’t pressure treated
Love your shirt at the end of the video. Do you sell them or have a store you would share?
I’m building a dining room table and this helps me out a bunch.
My wife got it on Etsy
What angle did you end up at for your "X"brace center supports between the legs? I assume that angle would be the same as the angles used for the half lap cuts?
nevermind, I see now the angles aren't the same. Do you by chance have those final angle numbers you landed on?
Am I correct in assuming that the number 2 setting allows for alittle bit of wood movement?
nevermind as i get about 30 Seconds further into the video you said it allows for alittle bit of wood movement
Hi,
Do biscuits work the same or dowels? The only domino jointers I can find are from festool and those are a little expensive for how often I’d use it at this point. I’d appreciate some recommendations.
No, biscuits don't add strength. DowelMax, Jessem and Milescraft all make dowel jigs.
Hey Matt, I kept forgetting to ask, but what happened to your delta cruzer miter saw? What made you switch back to your DeWalt?
The table looks awesome also! The domino looks like it'd be really helpful!
Thanks. I gave it to local woodworker in need
