What an adventure! Brilliant video. I enjoyed the minutiae, like what you were having for your tea. (Rice. Lots and lots of rice.) Can't wait for the next instalment.
Great video! I'm an Aberdonian - the reason the city looks so grey is that the older buildings are all made from granite - it was quarried locally in abundance. When the sun shines (on a few days each year) the city sparkles :-)
Hi Ollie, a great introduction to the NE of Scotland, I am resting up with a swollen knee, so it was lovely to 'armchair' cycle with you. All the best, J & S
Ollie, you are so lucky to have such a bike adventure --- I'm so jealous......... Stay safe and look both ways around cars...............................
great vid. shame i didn't know you passed through Peterhead last year, you could have popped in for a cuppa tea! again will remind we was in the same year at saddy! look forward to the next vid!
The first time I came across your channel you were going through Grotton tunnel which is where I was brought up! Now you’re cycling around the world 👍👍
Keep a list of the number of ferries you take. I've only done the South coastline, and there were surprisingly many ferries you even have to take there (including holding your bike upright in what is no more than a rowing boat!!!!!).
Great video Ollie - so happy to see that you got t' ferry. One day ahead o' schedule too - good work. Looking forward to next vid and seeing if you make it into England . Around Edinburgh is so nice there's no need to hurry. All the best!
That's it. I'll get out. Get out my maps and plan a bike adventure with the family, I mean. It will be the first tour for the kids 😁 Hills and especially them invisible hills (headwind [*] ) can drain all energy and will. Safe riding! * if you feel a tailwind you are riding too slow!
25 years ago, I cycled from Calais to Marseille, took a ferry across to Corsica, a ferry to Livorno Italy, cycled across Italy and ended up in Prague, then back across Europe to Calais. I took a collapsible 10l plastic water container with me and at the end of each day, I knocked on the door of the last cottage in the village (the one with a likely field to camp in next door) asking for a water refill and it never failed. Camped in fields and in peoples gardens. It took 6 weeks to get back to Calais....
Burnout isn't good - glad to hear you got over it quickly as from personal experience it can take a long time. I quite like Aberdeen, although I haven't decided yet whether I prefer Inverness. The buildings are amazing, however. In theory granite is so hard you can't carve it into all those decorative gothic features; nobody told the Aberdonians that however!
Funny to see the community washing line in full force. Sorry to hear about your gloomy spell. I've been going through the same thing, call it a mid-life crisis, although it just feels like I'm wasting my time. Luckily you had the vastness of Scotland to take your mind off it. Perhaps you feel like you are rushing the trip, without stopping to see any of it. This can be boring if things are set to a deadline. Perhaps as you say, it was burn out. They say Bananas are a cyclists best friend. Hopefully you will have time to check out the sights of Dundee and Edinburgh more gently?
Yeah you know I think I rush too much and don't get too enjoy places very long. Throw in a bit of head wind and some steep uphills and I think my brain loses interest. It's a lesson in pacing myself a bit better I think!
I worked up between Inverness and Aberdeen about 12 years ago, beautiful part of the world! Nice to see it again. Another great video Ollie
Absolutely fabulous vlog. Great editing and scenery. You've worked hard. Loved every minute. Thanks ..Well done ✔️ 😊😊😊😊
What an epic adventure!

I did really enjoy it there actually. It's a very beautiful city and the beach is gorgeous. I'll have to go back in the sunshine one day ☀️

I would love to all the way to the far north of Scotland. I have been to the West of Scotland including the Isle of Skye and Fort William.

Lovely clear pictures... Am I allowed to ask what your using as a camera and what editing program do you use? Brilliant vid by the way
Thanks! Yeah sure I just use a goPro hero 8 cos it's small and pretty hardy. And I use Premiere Pro to edit
