Felix had to post on IG with his photos from this MV that this song is literally about Beauty and the Beast and unconditional love. That’s all it’s about.
@ actually he does or he wouldn’t have had to post it on IG the way he did. I suggest you go see it for yourself. Chan on the other hand did say to interpret his song how you want it.
@@GigglesDoesStuff13 This person is correct. Felix’s exact quote on his IG post is “Im only going to say this once. Unfair was inspired by watching the Disney film Beauty and the beast. I wrote this song as if I was the beast, seeing from his POV. Enjoy :)”
Multiple things can be true at once. It can be about beauty and the beast and also about ALL of the things the tale, Beauty and the Beas,t symbolizes. Felix didn't write the song simply because the movie exists...he wrote it because he likes the movie, which he obviously relates to in some way. Roscoe is simply unpacking the symbolism and themes from the song/movie. Unconditional Love, Inner Beauty vs Outer Beauty, angel vs monster, duality, eternal love, immortality, self perception, judgement....etc. Felix made the statement in the way that he did, not because he didn't want people to dive into the themes behind it, but because people were assuming it related to his life in a direct way emotionally and romantically. He was already being bombarded with immature people wanting to know things like...what is wrong with him?... why is his life unfair? ...who hurt him?...is he singing about Stay?...and, Omg, he clearly wrote this about somebody, so who could he possibly be talking about?!
@@StrayHavenCami yeah people are so nosey and want drama.but also sad that sometimes idols can't be truthful about things because of some of the toxic people wandering around and treating them unfairly unlike real people. Understand both sides though
I think what you pointed out about his Persona of himself and others Persona of him is a nail on the head. People always say that he's this Angel and he's this ethereal being. He always denies it every time someone calls him that or hears it. He's quite the religious person so he does not compare himself to that type of being he always responds he's just human. So I wonder not only is this based on Beauty and the Beast but also him as well trying to say he's only human and see him as that instead. He's trying to say he's just like everyone else. The lyric "I just want to be myself no one can truly see the human inside me" definitely coincides with that. He wants people to see him for him and not this perfect person that everyone thinks he is because he does not see himself that way.
This song is so beautiful, and I remember being so speechless the first time I heard it in concert and he just kept changing and changing his tones. The Beauty and the Beast storyline is so beautiful, but the parallels to himself is what gives me chills. People focus on his looks and his voice and on his donations and volunteering, and they call him an angel. And throughout the years, whenever people do call him that, you can see on his face how he seems to be uncomfortable and frustrated by it. He keeps telling us directly, too, to remember that he's only human, that he has a temper he can't show, that he struggles to express himself. He is only human, and we should not put him on a pedestall. And then how he chooses to visualise that in this MV ... He's drowning, dressed in pure white and his angel wings, or walking with chained feet as a scarred "monster". But then he climbs out of the water, finds the rose and falls to the ground. With the love that the rose represents (of Stay? Skz? A certain someone?), he sheds his burdensome wings and is finally able to rest. Good enough, just as he is, with both the light and the dark parts of himself. It's so beautiful, but because the Beauty and the Beast inspiration is so on the nose, so many Stays are neglecting to look any further. And he really put so many layers in this song, he's conveying so much, using that tale as a metaphor. I'm in awe.
This has probably been answered already but in the Beauty and the Beast wings vrs beast fur... to me it is just a reference to how others see them and how they really are. Beast was a furry monster and when Belle loved him anyway he changed back to his "real self". The same with Felix. Everyone calls him an "angel" but he's telling us that is not his "real" persona. He's asking everyone to give him a break and let him be human with all the imperfections that come along with that. ~Terri
I feel that there is a hidden message behind Felix simple explanation of everyone deserving unconditional love. As there must be a drive behind wanting to write a song about that message… ❤
I know that Felix says in his IG that this is written about Beauty and the Beast, and about unconditional love….because people were taking it literally looking for a person named belle in his life, or telling him he’s blessed, that its selfish to call his life unfair….but I agree Roscoe. There are many layers to the song and the mv. It has a more personal feel to it, in terms of his emotions that he sings with. Do I believe it’s about a girl who left him? No. But I also know that I’ve watched others pigeon hole Felix, haters, people in the industry who only look at his visual, or only look at his deep voice thinking that is all he can do. I feel like the one who saved him is the members of the group who saw the human, the person he is, and gave him the chance to be more. So the imagery of him being lonely, a solitary figure, lets remember he also came to Korea, knowing no Korean, knowing no one, joined an agency and had to try to fit in when he was alone. So in a way the solitary struggles, fighting uphill, chains at his feet, were hard times. And climbing up in the water towards the light, thats seeing salvation above you and pulling yourself towards it, not waiting for someone to dive in and save you. Just my two cents.
I agree! Felix even said himself in the intro of the album that he wrote the song BECAUSE he relates to the story of Beauty and The Beast, not just because he likes it! And I can personally see how the lyrics to the song fit for BOTH the movie and Felix himself. The post that everyone is talking about was made by Felix because he felt that he had to clear up that the mention of Belle in the lyrics was from the movie and nothing more, not from his personal life because I believe people were trying to make the assumption that it was. But I felt that the song and video has ties to both himself and the movie. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that his beastly “curse” is angel wings and one of his nicknames is angel. He wants people to see the human inside of him as well.
@@Harley_STAY yes! This!I have loved Beauty and the Beast in both its original story and the Disney adaptation. I’ve always thought the underlying story is seeing people for who they are, not who people think they are. A large emphasis is placed on Felix’s looks, and his voice, but not necessarily who he is. Maybe he’s wanting to have people see him
@Wenannie Exactly! Two things can be true at the same time!! I love Beauty and The Beast as well! Someone said in the live comments that he was really talking about allowing himself to be human, not just the idol, the beauty, the angel. That feels deeper to me than the surface lyrics... he is objectified and held to a beauty standard, but there is human-ness and beast within him too.
Everyone calls him an angel as depicted in the video, but there is a human in there! He thought God had answered all his prayers when they finally made it big, but he realized he wanted more. Now it seems he has everything they could want but it could be considered a burden because they are committed by contracts so still have no freedom. Perhaps he wants to find true love and this in essence will set him free because they will see the human inside, love him unconditionally and once he achieves that he will be free of the nightmares and burdens he now carries alone, Just my take on it as it really can apply to anyone!
Anyone else get a bit frustrated when the comment about the song being not well written came up int the beginning? Cause honestly this is one of my favorite songs ever. His lyrics are always so beautiful and meaningful.
The correct way to put it, would be to say that it's not a complex rhyme scheme...the pattern is far more simple than most SKZ songs, but that does not in any way make it a poorly written song. People always tell Felix he is an angel and he tries to correct them and says he is just a human. He doesn’t want to be put on a pedestal. Felix is comparing his situation to the beasts situation. I love that the wings aren't actually connected to him. They fade into pitch back or pure white before reaching his back. Not a disney princess fan so this isn't my favourite song but the video is gorgeous and fits the song so well
"Please give me a break right now I wanna just be myself No one can truly see The human inside me."
Felix said his song is from the beast perspective, however many stay consider him as an Angel, that comes with a so many restrictions. He is human.....
Even though I know it is about Beauty and the Beast ( according to Felix), I feel there may also be a message to Stay. We call him our angel, that he's not of this world. Could he also be saying that he is human with all that entails? Just a thought.
Did you catch he’s having dinner with the dark-haired version of himself? I know Felix said this song is literally about Beauty and the Beast, but after watching this MV I also think it’s about his longing to find someone that will love him for his authentic self, not the beautiful ethereal version he presents to the world.
Felix has told everyone a million times he came up with the song while he was watching Beauty and the Beast it doesn't have anything to do with his personal life its just Bueaty and the Beast and unconditinal love.
1.) Felix did not say anything a million times. 2.) Felix specified that the 'Belle' he was referring to in the song is not based on anyone in his real life, and that the song itself is not written 'to' someone. Regardless, once the art leaves the author's grasp, it is up to us to receive the message that may be intended for each of us.
He told the restaurant story at the end of the livestream. It will be released as an individual Storytime video immediately after all the HOP videos are released. 🤗
@@gothicutau7508 I believe that all the voices you hear in this song are purely Felix. For one, there are countless videos showcasing the range of his voice. Two, there is a recent interview vid from SKZ where they claim Felix is both the deepest and highest voice in the group. Three, there is also "Unfair" 's big sister, "Deep End" , that shows us just a fraction of what his voice can do (not my words, but the producer's who worked with him on it). Finally, there's Bang Chan himself (who, by the way, knows best what Felix's voice can do) coming out during concert day and reclaiming for Felix a wrongly fan-attributed line from "Cover Me". So, I think it's safe to assume we've barely been acquainted with the full richness of Felix's voice. To quickly attribute to artificial means what comes naturally to him is quite a shame, in my view.
NEWS ALERT. Please read Hybe's announcement. Even though it's V's birthday, Hybe will not be posting any Hybe content for 7 days. It's because the country is officially in 7 days of mourning. 179 South Koreans were killed in a horrendous plane crash. I won't be posting for 7 days. You need to decide what you want to do. It seems inappropriate to enjoy any South Korean content. I won't judge you. I'm just informing you.

Gaston wanted belle she didn’t want him when he found out about the beast he tried to get rid of the beast
💜💜
I have to say I like the French version of Beauty and the Beast ❤
Did you catch he’s having dinner with the dark-haired version of himself? I know Felix said this song is literally about Beauty and the Beast, but after watching this MV I also think it’s about his longing to find someone that will love him for his authentic self, not the beautiful ethereal version he presents to the world.
Finally
Felix has told everyone a million times he came up with the song while he was watching Beauty and the Beast it doesn't have anything to do with his personal life its just Bueaty and the Beast and unconditinal love.
1.) Felix did not say anything a million times.
2.) Felix specified that the 'Belle' he was referring to in the song is not based on anyone in his real life, and that the song itself is not written 'to' someone.
Regardless, once the art leaves the author's grasp, it is up to us to receive the message that may be intended for each of us.

What happened to the restaurant story?
He told the restaurant story at the end of the livestream. It will be released as an individual Storytime video immediately after all the HOP videos are released. 🤗
I wish they hadnt edited/remixed his voice so much in this song. I think his actual voice wouldve worked better
How is this not his actual voice? It's not like it's AI! Plus its completely recognizable as Felix.
Good afternoon
