    I know it’s too late to comment but in the spaces you could grow thyme it’s a herb and it’s very good in rock garden type setting. When your feet brush up on it it releases lovely scent. Also succulents on the perimeter like sedums the ground cover variety. They come in different colors and leaf shape so have tiny flowers. Also if you have large pots filled with flowering plants it will add some amazing color. The basic hard scape is set now. You can add plantings to soften the space.

      I was thinking the exact same thing

    • @carolinebedard2697
      @carolinebedard2697 5 месяцев назад +5

      Agreed! Here in California, creeping thyme (pink flowers) are popular between pavers, and the scent is lovely. A few lavenders in bright pots in the patio area for the scent and color would be good, and help to soften the stone as well.

      And what about moss?

    • @ruthnoronha8206
      @ruthnoronha8206 5 месяцев назад +2

      Not if it dry and hot the moss won’t grow. Looks like one the summer heat starts it’s hot hot hot. Maybe they’ll build a pergola for shade seating in the future. Their home is lovely and the views are magical.

      Určite by som do medzier nasadila rozchodník...používa sa na vždyzelené strechy a prežije aj dlhšie sucho. Tymián je tiež skvelá voľba a prekrásne vonia. Neviem či dať trávu do medzier dlažby bola dobrá voľba nakoľko trávnik potrebuje veľa vlahy a na tejto terasa tej vlahy veľa nie je ako bolo spomenuté vo videu. Tak snáď nájdu tú správnu kombináciu rastlín a budú im dlho robiť radosť ❤

    I think a wood beam pergola would be perfect over the terrace to have a place for climbing roses, ivy or beans. The wood stained to match the window casings. It gives a place to string fairy lights to vertical and horizontal elements, provide a little break up of the scorching sun, but still allow the sunshine to come in. A birdbath or water fountain lined in azure blue mosaic tile will add color that reflects the sky. Outdoor square cushions, like those used on boats or patio benches simply placed onto the stone wall will provide comfortable seating and color without any permanent structure,

    Se posso darvi un suggerimento, io vi consiglio vivamente di fare una panca continua coperta con le mattonelle di terracotta, come il vostro pavimento in casa. Nella casa dei miei genitori aveva intorno dei muriccioli di pietra coperte con le mattonelle di cotto stuccate. In questo modo il muracciolo è protetto e non ci sono infiltrazioni che possono rompere e fare staccare le pietre sotto. Vi assicuro che dopo 60 anni questi muretti con le pianelle di terracotta sono perfette e, a differenza del legno, non necessita di manutenzione e non si deteriorano. E danno anche un senso di pulizia e ordine, pur mantenendo i colori naturali della terra intorno.

    Ooh, I've been waiting for this! It's beautiful and adds so much personality to the house. It is a Lot Of Work. I have a flagstone patio in my back yard. It saved you a lot of work that the footprint was already there. The organic shape really suits that space. Coffee and croissants in the morning and a glass of wine watching the sunset.
    Enjoy!

    An excellent terrace creation using recycled stonework. A treated wooden seating space would look good. Long term it will rot but can always be replaced / treated. Lighting (solar powered) would look great. Have you thought of a small pond somewhere. W 👍

    Salut !
    La terrasse est très belle avec le sol en pierre, mais je suis d'accord qu'il serait plus intéressant que le banc soit en bois. La décoration à la fin, avec la table, les chaises et les chaises longues en bois est magnifique, et "réclame" le banc en bois. Comme vous l'avez dit vous-même, il permettrait d'intégrer des lumières, ce qui complèterait le tout, et nous fait déjà imaginer des rassemblements pour profiter de la terrasse l'après-midi, à l'abri de la pergola, et le soir, en été et au printemps, en regardant les étoiles en haut et les lumières du village en bas, parfumées par les plantes des alentours.
    A la vôtre !

    Bonjour, toujours aussi réjouissant de vous regarder et de voir ce petit coin de paradis s'embellir. J'adhère à nombre de vos choix et aux raisons que vous leurs donnez. Puisque la question est posée, pour la banquette de la terrasse, j'opterais pour le bois. Effectivement cela trancherait un peu de tout ce minéral, même pour un amoureux de la pierre comme moi. Les lumières sous les lattes et la pergola métallique seront parfaites... Hâte de voir ça !!!!
    Bonne continuation et belle vie à vous.

    Et pourquoi vous ne continuez pas l'atterrissage de l'autre côté du rocher, qui affleurerait ainsi au centre? Ça donnerait une forme plus harmonieuse à cette terrasse et éviterait le chemin de terre de l'autre côté du rocher... Just an idea 😉

    no, I do not see a wooden bench in your landscape with your house and with your terrace … I see more stone seating/table and lots of seating pillows that are made of water resistant/waterproof material so you don’t need to run and get them when it’s raining❤❤

    Absolutely no way I would complain about either choice. They have been fabulous every time. You do you and I will like the result and dream of the sun.

    I vote for wood to match your trim color. The patio looks great and can’t wait to see the grass.

    I like the idea of a wooden deck. It would tie in with the wood framed windows and doors. The terrace looks like a lovely area to relax.

    Might you create another bench such as the one your woodburner sits on, but with cocciopesto mixed into the skim coat? Whatever material you use for the banquette, I would love to see some of the rich burnt tones of your door surrounds and roof tiles. I love that you used the original floor stone, and plan to use existing vines to shade yourselves!

    Très intéressant cette terrasse naturelle.... Pour la banquette, la matière bois amènerait un peu de douceur... Hâte de voir la suite. Belle journée

    I was once visiting Los Vagus when it was 114 degrees. It was very hot walking on the sidewalks. At night you could not sit on the rocks that lined the street because the heat from the rocks burned your skin. I like the idea of wood seating on the rock along the patio. I also like the idea of using the vine for shade overhead. I think you are going to have a very functional living area when you cool the patio down a bit.

    Love it! After the grass grows in and few potted plants it will look wonderful! Putting wood that sits atop the rock bench with built in tables would look nice, then you could have a few throw pillows.

    I think the wooden bench with some ambient lighting would be nice. You can add some nice bright Cushions on the back and for sitting making it really cozy.

    The stone patio turned out beautiful and all the material was already there and somewhat flat. Having grass grow between the joints is a good idea. The metal pergola is a must for shade, perhaps adding a potted olive tree in an oversized planter would also help with shade and something green. A wooden bench (or just a wooden platform) on top stone terrace would be much softer than sitting on a rock, but I've also used a rock as a pillow while camping, lol. Honestly, you can do just about anything out there and I would like it. As always, excellent work, ciao!

    Great work and I love that you are putting grass between the stones to break the “minerality” of the terrace as well as for drainage.
    A wooden bench along the wall would be great but if you keep it in stone, the stone will retain the heat in the evening which might be something nice in spring and autumn.
    I have a stone terrace and it’s facing full south which means that up to late October we can enjoy sitting there with that little bit of extra heat which makes it super enjoyable

    The wooden bench seats are a good idea. It would soften the look of the patio and make it a very inviting place to entertain. Not sure about the lighting beneath the seats but some sconce down lighting the stone walls would be beautiful. Continue the lovely job you are both doing. I enjoy watching your updates/videos

    I do think the wooden bench idea fits a lot better into the pergola and is much softer than using stone, but that is solely a personal view. I feel it allows you to evolve the whole ambience of the inside/outside effect of and on this area. Love the thought you both put into the project. Regards

    I'm impressed with your tenacity! This was yet another hard and tedious job to stick out. I love the look you've achieved and the small perennials will do a great job for looks and function. A wood seat would be very nice and will also be easier to sit on. Glad your planning a pergola because with West exposure it would be unbearable to use in the afternoon. As usual you've thought of all of that already and planned a lovely natural remedy! I look forward to seeing the results. Any guest should have to view a mandatory video of all the hard and tedious work you've gone through to really appreciate what it has taken. Thank you as always.
