The boards above the windows are really perfect! The same manner I fitted a 4 m wooden kitchen working plate to a 150 year old sandstone wall… CAD (cardboard aided design) helped with the back contour of the plate. Never mind the difference of the wooden planks to the lintels, the fit very nicely to the window frames. The magnets are a brilliant idea! 👍 I‘m looking forward to seeing more from you and your lovely house! 😊

    Nice to see another video!
I think the wood choice colouring goes well with the window frame timber. So looks transitional. And both woods may grey over time. And on that point, freshly sawn oak isn’t going to match the old lintel either. I suspect there is some product which will grey wood if the tone contrast irks. But if it’s the grain you’d like to see matching, that might be a harder thing to blend even with same species of wood given how old, weathered, and unique the lintels’ grains and contrast is.
Magnets are very clever. Think of the secret stash of stuff you can hide in the insulated space up there with easy access given it’s cover is held on by magnets! Sadly, everyone who watches this video will know where to look for hidden stuff now.
Love seeing these finishing detail jobs.

The window trim came out looking awesome, it was the exact match for your custom windows. Perhaps do an oak sill at the bottom with a live edge for that rustic look or even that larch wood to tie everything in would be nice. The magnets on the wood is a good idea, drilling into the metal beam is tough, you need the correct drill bit (usually cobalt). You need to go somewhat slow and have some cutting oil otherwise you will break or burn up your bits quickly.
Glad you took some time off, I did miss your videos, but some vacation time is sometimes what is needed to charge up those batteries.
    Welcome back!

I love your home renovation videos. And it is nice to combine the old mature oak wood with the new one, which adapts to the shape of the old one, and at the same time can subtly cover modern materials, such as insulation, metal elements of the house structure. I also admire your patience because on an old house everything happens at least twice, clear out, take out, plan, restore, but you enjoy it, even though it is a big challenge and very exhausting at the same time. You have a beautiful house, in a beautiful location, so relax, enjoy, and we, your fans, will look forward to the sequel. IN
