Oakton College - Drawing Demo: Measuring Proportions - Finding Ratios in a Still Life

Materials needed:
One sheet of 18"x24" drawing paper
Graphite Pencil
Vinyl Eraser
Skewer
Find a really simple cup (cylindrical or conical), a spoon, and a napkin.
Do not draw from a photograph-it will prevent you from learning! Start with a quick 15-second gesture drawing and use organizational lines to adjust the proportions. Then use the measuring technique demonstrated here to get even more accurate proportions in your drawing.
