Sold the 365. The grip is just too small. It’s like holding the box toothpaste comes in under a gun. It made me shoot my other handguns poorly because of the adjustment made for gripping it. M&P for sure, and it shoots softer for that second or third follow up round.
@@stiftarcory4364 -- You are over-thinking Robert's comment. The small grip doesn't allow you to get a good purchase with both hands on the gun like you could with a larger grip. The 365 is snappier to shoot because of that. These days there's the Shield Plus...
As a armed professional that carries both on the job and in my personal life. The Smith & Wesson Shield is the epitome of what others are trying to achieve. Thus far I think the Sig 365 is about as close as anyone has come to the shield. My agency has the shield on the approved list and that's what I carry. The Sig 365 has been tested by my agency and is not currently on the approved list. Not to be long-winded but I agree with your assessment of these two platforms. I to give the nod to the Smith & Wesson Shield because I trust my life with it and the life of my clients with it.
Your reviews are so interesting, helpful, honest and you do them to your best ability, they are not something you just throw out there. Again I thank you and you have become one of my favorite reviewers ...
Only a matter of time before they make some type of a Shield 3.0 that has a staggered double stack magazine (like the Hellcat/365) and is the same size
They basically did come out with a double stack Shield. The M&P 2.0 Subcompact. It's thicker and slightly longer, but you get twelve rounds for carry and the 17 round full size mags will fit in it for the range. (Also comes with a slip on grip extender for the 15 and 17 round mags) I love mine. They can be hard to find right now, but worth every penny if you can.
Sig hit it out of the park with the P365 features and design. Maximum capacity and minimal size. The trigger breaks at a nice point, not too far back like many other pistols. The only issue a lot of people seem to have is that it may be too small for a lot of people to hold comfortably, which is why those people usually go with the 12 round mag. My hand fits perfectly with the 10 round mag with the extended pinky grip so I'm in love with it. The $250 price tag on the 1.0 shield definitely has me interested in getting one as a backup/beater gun though. I'm sure you can't go wrong with the P365 or the Shield, just pick what fits best for you.
Thank for the review. I went to a gun show and held...The Sig 365, Glock 26, 43, PPQ and M&P Shield 2.0. I must say the shield felt extremely good in my hand. I ended up getting the Shield with the Red CTL built in and must say after some range time Im extremely happy with my choice. The 365 is great in hand but not as good to me in my hand compared to the Shield. Great video
Thank you very much! That's a great assortment of guns you got to handle. I agree that the Shield feels good in the hand and it's a shooter too! Cheers!
I used to to have Sigs and carried one everyday for almost nine years. I switched to Smith & Wesson and love the Smith & Wesson Shield. I agree with your pick.
Hmm you give the M&P the price point, but then change the sights and trigger. Killing that price advantage. The P365 smaller/lighter and higher capacity. My vote is the P365 . Great video thanks
Thank you very much Dave! Yes, the Shield does have the aftermarket stuff on it. Those were from previous vids but the stock Shield is still awesome. Either way, both guns are great. Chheers!
@@chtomlin *dig duck* has a point which agrees with physics. The SIG P365 slide & handle design may make it a little easier to shoot compared with other *sub-compacts.* But a heavier &/or larger gun is easier to "extremely" easier shoot due to the laws of physics. Note: Unless there is SIG magic involved *Chuck T.* ; )
I read most of the comments below. I agree with all the positive comments. The P365 is about the same size as the Taurus PT111/G2c. One thing I can NOT get past is the high malfunction rate of the Sig. (go to RUclips, enter Sig P365 problems) Like Taurus, sig uses a round wire in the recoil spring and there is video of the Sig failing to go into battery. I have all M&P's and have never had a malfunction, plus my slides are an odized stainless steel.
On RUclips, you can enter any manufacturer name and follow it up with "problems". You'll find that there are issues to one degree or another with every gun out there. The P365 is much smaller than the G2C, all things considered. Also, what does odized mean? Smith and Wesson has an Armornite finish. Thanks!
@@KSGunGuy01 Thank you for the correction. I meant anodized and you are correct it's called Armonite and it's on stainless steel. Fault with M*P's is the gap of feed lips of the magazine and not the fault of the actual pistol parts.
I have the 365XL on reserve, but am strongly considering switching to the M&P. It's about $150 cheaper and I don't think the difference is that great. Its an EDC not a range toy.
Love the Shield! Added a Hogue slip on grip, Apex trigger, extended mag release, HYVE mag extension, custom back plate, Olight PL Mini 2 light and night sights. Fun gun to personalize and after 500+ rounds, not 1 misfire after modifications. Love Sig too, both great guns, but can't personalize the Sig like I did with the Shield.
I did the hogue grip, and mag extension for my shield I've carried it for 5 years, and I usually fire a 100 rounds a month, and haven't had any issues. This gun is a rugged little champ.
yeah sig has that proprietary rail i dont like so much. i want to get a custom grip module for my p365xl . i dont need the mag extensions 12 is enough for me and its crazy concealable. also thinking about the sig romeozero rds.
In the end I ended up with the Tac Pack 365, three 12 round mags etc. Also this version comes with the ambi thumb safety, which I dont mind at all. Nice thing about the safety is that you can operate the gun as far as racking the slide and loading one in the chamber, which in turn is useful for taking it out of the chamber. If you have a 1911 the safety is in a great place and your thumb easily sweeps over it, great placement. The engagement is audible and very tactile. Sights and ergos and trigger range from great to fantastic.
Totally agree on the Shield. The 365 would be a great choice, but ergonomics of Shield not only make it more comfortable to shoot but leads to much easier follow-ups. Thanks for the honest opinion and great video.
Before last year, I'd never felt compelled to own a weapon until a stranger decided to come into my home unannounced while I was there. Thankfully nothing bad happened after the confrontation. But afterward, I sat down to RUclips and started researching hand guns. I decided on one, went and purchased it, asked a friend of mine who had some property so he could teach me how to shoot. Went to the property with 3 other people and took turns shooting a 3" metal flapper from 50'. Nobody there ever fired/owned the gun I bought. Not knowing how proficient they were, after seeing them shoot. I thought, these guys' guns are out of whack. It seemed they couldn't shoot straight. It was my turn. I shot about 50 rounds. To everyone's amazement, I hit the bullseye every time. I'd never fired a handgun before. They didn't believe me. Then they shot my gun with about the same results. I shot theirs, they were all much heavier, bigger grip, etc. I had a more difficult time and couldn't hit the target as well. I am 5'7" and they were about the same. Our hands were all about the same. All I know is, the gun fit my hand well. It was comfortable, it did what I wanted. It shot straight and I could hit what I aimed at. Since then I've put about a 1000 rounds through it. Never a misfire or a jamb. I clean it every 200 rounds or so. I buy whatever FMJ copper that's on sale and never steel at the recommendation of the sales guy where I bought it. The gun, S&W Shield 9mm... not the 2.0. It still shoots like it was brand new and just as well with the same results and couldn't be happier with it. Then again, what do I know?
Your choice is understandable from a training perspective. I've run 300 rounds through my P365 and I plan on taking a few classes with it to get used to the differences between it and the thicker double stack subcompacts that I am used to. It is fairly snappy but very accurate. After 1,000 plus rounds and a couple of classes, I should feel very confident with it. I hope so because I've already mentally committed.
I just bought my first ccw gun a couple weeks ago and I was looking at these 2 plus a couple others . I ended up with the sig 365 tacpac , came with a case , holster and 3 10+1 mags, I also bought 3 15rd mags when I picked up the gun. The sig was more comfortable to me then the others. Found it to be accurate at 30ft and out of the box work flawlessly. Now other family members want one but can’t find one . It was nice when pick up the gun from the store they keep ammo just for gun purchasers so you will have ammunition when you buy your gun .
I purchased that same setup back in December! I tested the trigger and it breaks at 4.6 pounds which is amazing for an OEM trigger. It's now my pocket gun and im glad I purchased the one with the external safety. I love the gun but I still prefer my upgraded shield as a hip gun. I have big hands so I can't shoot the p365 with speed like I can with the shield. It's still a great gun and I think it's the best one for a female. If I had a wife or daughter the p365 is the one I would buy for them. It's basically all you need for Concealed Carry but it's not my top choice because of my hand size. Even with the hogue grip it doesn't feel as good as the shield in my hands. Im red/green color blind so the sights on the p365 doesn't work very well for me. Everyone has different hand sizes and eye's so there really is no perfect gun. Personally I think everyone should own both pistols because they're both awesome. Now I have the perfect pocket gun and the perfect hip gun for Concealed Carry 😁👍. It's good to have more than one small Carry pistol because it's what you're going to carry the most.
I love my Shield, it's been a champ since I picked it up new for $350 never had any issues, I've run +p in it fine, I've run it fine without cleaning it. I've rented the P365 twice, the first time it broke the recoil spring on firing the third magazine, the second time I had light primer strikes and failures to feed with winchester white box. It's a shame I want to like the P365, I think the design is going to be great if they can just work out the bugs, but for right now I think the shield is the winner wait for the next generation on the P365 when the issues are sorted.
I have a late ‘18 model P365 and NRA P365, with both well over 500 rounds and no issues. They feel so right I had to buy it twice. Haha. P.s I got a 9mm Shield too but the NRA P365 is my 1 ccw pistol.
I definitely miss these . " IF I COULD ONLY HAVE ONE VIDEOS " . But I'm sure it was expensive and time consuming . Over 60,000 Subscribers . Congratulations. You deserve it .
I love my Shield. Try some Talon grips and it takes it to a new level. I put some Trijicon HD night sights on mine and an Apex spring kit modification and I feel that I have the ultimate carry piece.
Thanks for doing this comparison. I had winnowed it down to these two for my next purchase. Between you and the Honest Outlaw, I have decided: if I can run across a deal for the M&P Shield 2.0 around 350 or 400 I will choose it and just replace the sights and buy extra mags. But since I have never had a small carry gun, I will have to adjust to whatever I choose anyway. The size adjustment for the P365 will be the only knock against it, and I will have to get used to anything regardless. Therefore, the best choice for me out of the box is the Sig. I have resisted the idea of buying the Sig, partly because I already have the P320 in 9mm and 5" barrel. I don't want to be a fan-boy of any name brand. I'm really just looking for the best within my price range. A CZ Shadow 2 is not in my range and it's too big. I have big, and I can't use them for concealed carry. I think even a 4" barrel will be uncomfortable. I haven't seen CZ competing on the sub compact field, and they would probably be too expensive again anyway. Nope. The P365 has won me, short of a lucky find with the Shield 2.0.
That’s the video I was looking for!! I have owned the Shield for about 5 years and I love it. I just ordered he 365 and I can’t wait to start shooting it.
Curry In A Hurry Automotive Mobile Mechanic in my opinion the 365 shoots better and feels a little bit better on my hand. I have small hands, it has less recoil
Excellent review. So many great choices out there now, all but a few are excellent guns. So many people leave comments how they know the perfect handgun for self defensive carrying. They really only know what they like for themselves because not every gun is the best choice for everyone. I would say that reliability is the most important thing, next, hand size is the biggest factor for determining witch gun to get, what fits a persons hand best. Round count is another factor but carry an extra magazine, something everyone should do incase of mag failures, and the round count becomes less important although still real important in a gun fight. Make sure your choice is small and light enough so you will always have it on you, next, get one that you can hit stuff at close range without aiming, you just point it and shoot, and hit your close target because that is a real gunfight, first hit wins, second place, you're dead. Tactics, not fast draw will get you shooting first, never quick draw into a gunfight, always see what is about to happen and be holding your gun when it does, awareness and tactics not quickness gets your shots on target first, first = winning. You won't have the time or ability to aim with those new night sights, it's a close up, point and shoot game your going to be in, so get a gun you can point and hit, then practice that. If you shoot or dry fire at least twice a week, you can switch gun choices otherwise, stick to just one gun choice. I shoot a lot and go 50/50 between Glock 26 and Glock 43 depends on what I'm waring or the mood I'm in. I am like the G26 best with the +2 base plate, extra 2 rounds is nice but mostly I like that base plate because it's way easier to draw. Good luck with your tactics whatever you do.
Thanks for the comparison and the comments. You've helped me make up my mind on the purchase. Provided I can find one I'm going w/the sig. really enjoyed it
When I first saw this video I agreed wholeheartedly in my appreciation for the Shield. I've had a P365 for about a year. Gradually I've come to the realization that the 365 and my future XL will probably replace every other gun I own in 9mm. They are just that good. I sold a Shield 9 recently still have another one but maybe not forever. The 365 is very good and you can't deny the capacity advantage it has. Love you videos they make the viewer think about what was covered more than others.
@@KSGunGuy01 Thank you buddy, I really meant it. I see lots of these reviews and yours are the best and I don't have to worry about my little kids hear your words unlike other reviews when they use so much profanities and bad words. take care man!
For people complaining about you checking to make sure it’s not loaded should not have guns. That’s gun safety 101. I check my guns always even though I know for a fact I put it in the safe unloaded
From Burke in WA.4/20/18. EXCELLENT review. Both guns are top. I pocket carry a shield9 w.green Viridian laser. (Ret.l.e.o.42 yrs.) The SHIELD is available w.external safety if U want one; 365 does NOT. My SHIELD9 carries 10+1 (mag-guts+2). For me, the SHIELD wins. Not 1 failure or issue. It shoots wonderfully and comfortably. It eats ALL ammo 365 can't be found in Seattle area @ this time.
I have both old versions of each and I was struggling with what I would carry even after range sessions, But your video lead me to the road to nowhere "Ringo Star" no , I will carry the P365, but not ashamed to carry the S&W when need be. Thanks for your eval.
I understand what you're saying but to tell you the truth I own the shield and and it's been perfect but still my favorite gun is my H&K p2000sk H&K rocks
Thanks for an excellent review. I own a 9mm 2.0 Shield -- love it. As they say, the grass is always greener, so I would like to try a 365, but my skepticism is in regards to mass/weight and recoil. Before buying the Shield, I carried an LCP-II 380 ACP, and the small size and recoil just killed my trigger hand. The Shield solved that problem, and I don't want to regress. Shooting the 365 should tell the tale for me.
I got the shield9 2.0 and like the “full” size feeling of the pistol. Wish it had better capacity but I carry spare mag. I havnt got a chance to shoot the p365 yet. Got to grip it in the gun shop and gotta say it feels great in the hand!
This topic could go on for years. The most important thing is that which everyone u choose it has to serve its purpose. That is comfort grip, trigger, sights, rounds etc. Make sure its comfortable and u can shoot actuate, thats the point. It DON'T matter which brand u carry.
Just came from the range with my new p365. 150 flawless FMJ rounds and 20 flawless rounds of HST. I still prefer the ergos and shootability of my. 45 shield with 185gr rounds but the p365 is a real game changer. Won't really understand the size until u hold it... It's small. Can't deny the size/capacity ratio. Vedder light tuck on thee way.
Congrats on the new score Paul! That’s awesome brother. Glad it running for you! I am hearing more and more reports of the 365s running well so I think the issues early adopters were having has been worked out. I agree about the size vs capacity thing too. Truly may be a game changer. Thank you and cheers!
Lani Wade 😂 I actually like federal too I have hst I think 115 grain in the 19, you like heavier grains and do you like the hydra shock better then the hst?
Thanks for making the Video. Great elaboration, and breaking it down. MAC (Military Arms Channel) opened my eyes on the Sig P365. With all the problems Sig is having with it right now, there is no way in hell I"m spending $600, and then, have to send it in for repairs after 800 rounds. The Primer Drag & Broken Firing Pins shit needs to be addressed by Sig BEFORE they send another one out the door. I'll wait until next year on the P365 so they can solve the problems. For now though, I'll run and get the S&W M&P Shield 2.0 for $349.99 {maybe even cheaper), and the extension for 10+1 carry. Hell, who knows. I may not even be interested in the P365 when they do get their shit together.
Just bought a shield 2.0 performance to replace my original shield. 😁 strongly considered the Sig. But it’s too small, I agree with the reviewer. It feels like your have to readjust and can’t get a good hold on it quick. Shield fits my hand like a glove. I personally think the shield is a better looking gun too especially with the ports. There are plenty of mag extensions out there too. So capacity’s not that big of a deal.
I have both and love both. Granted I polished the barrel on the shield and did a full apex trigger job on it as well due to mine being the 1st gen shield. Both really are decent carry guns but the p365 definitely has the edge on concealment.
Great review & info. I own both and completely agree. I picked up the 365 about a year ago and it's very nice, but I too had to make adjustments to my normal shooting for it because of it's small size. If you're hands are smaller, then the 365 is probably a wonderful firearm. But for me it was quite challenging to shoot accurately as I'm used to with my other firearms.
New shooter only 6 months into this. But for Christmas I asked for another gun. Husband and I went black Friday shopping After comparing signs 365, walther pps and sheild 2.0. I chose the sheild. No raking problem for this girl. Love everything about the sheild. Even got integrated laser with for 370 dollars.
Can’t go wrong with the Smith & Wesson Shield. You’re getting an extremely reliable firearm that’s approved by most LE agencies PLUS the occasional factory rebates! My daily is a gen 1 M&P shield 9 however I recently picked up a 2.0 plus for $324.99 after rebate! A far cry from a base Sig 365 @ $499.
Love my p365 got it a couple months ago 2021. No issues with it at all. Got a couple 12 round mags, pocket holster, nobody knows I'm carrying it. Best pistol so far in my opinion. They fix all these issues 3 years ago.
After you replace the sights and trigger on the shield, it's actually more expensive and you have to do both for it to be in the ballpark. P365 is better quality, smaller, and just a better design. I carry a P365 and I love it. Good job Sig.
sales #s are a good metric, and give the edge to the Shield, per free market objectivity. ill run MP shield over everything else. way more reliable and durable
@@tomsmith2215 I am a Smith wood and steel guy, but never tried their autoloaders. Purchased a .380 Shield EZ for a new female shooter as a gift. I had a hard time letting it go to the intended recipient. I love my P226 but I am a fan of M&P Shield 9mm, plus it fits my lengthy hands better than Sig compacts. Shield is just as ergonomic as a Walther CCP M2 which fits like a glove with Talon grip tape.
I own them both and love them both. Guns are a funny thing, like many of your followers have mentioned. There is no one size fits all with a firearm. I will never get rid of my shield 9mm, but I'm hoping my 365 will become my edc. I only have 150 rounds through my 365, as I just bought it a week ago. Nov 2018 born on date. There were no failures of any kind for first 150. I hope they really did work out the bugs, I am routing for the 365 to be a reliable gun.
That 365 is tiny nice sights. I saw your comparison with 43. I thank I'd go with the 365. Just for situations when I can't carry my G19. Good video well done.
It was between the Shield 2.0 and the P365 for me. I spent about an hour at the range with each and it really was a toss up - both shot phenomenally. Ultimately I liked the sights and the grip on the P365 enough to buy it, even though I've been a S&W man my whole life. Thank you for your review!
This was literally me 2 months ago as I was buying my first pistol but I grew up like smith and wesson i have their knives and the s&w m&p 15 but the sig was just too good
I really like my P365. As of now I have 350 trouble-free rounds. However, I can see noticeable wear on the barrel and denting on the corners of the casing of the barrel opposite the feeder ramp. I also have a Sig M11-A1 and a P226 Legion SAO - both with many, many more rounds through them and they both show less wear than the P365 is showing. I do like the gun and enjoy shooting it. But, I am concerned about the wear…
I've got the shield in 45 and just recently pick up the Sig for the added capacity. I'm torn as I really like the shield. Its bitter and heavier, but it just fits my hands perfectly and I shoot it much better. Maybe I'll shoot the Sig better once I can get some affordable and available ammo thru it!
I just picked up the Shield 2.0 subcompact Saturday. Both of these were on my list and the Shield was the only one I could find locally. Got it for $533 out the door at a local Mom and Pop Shop with 2 magazines.
Great video! Loved the comparison between those two awesome carry guns. I have owned 2 of the original Smith & Wesson Shields (1.0 model) and was pretty impressed with the weapon. However, in your video you make note that you've added a trigger package from Apex, and also changed out the sights. If this had been a straight up stock comparison, hands down the P365 wins. I have my P365 as my EDC, and haven't ever had any malfunctions. I did replace my Springfield XD-S 9mm 4" with the P365. Love the gun, doubt I'll ever change the P365 out for anything else. For me, it's the perfect carry gun.
Thank you very much! Very true that the Shield has some enhancements and out of the box, the 365 offers quite a bit. I still opt for the Shield, but just barely. I agree about the experience and haven’t had function issues with my 365 either. I think that hype is dying down (which is a good thing). Cheers Nate!
Good points, cheap, don't care if you trash it, and reliable. Nothing to love about it and get attached to. Just buy another one once its worn out or ugly from abuse.
I have owned the Sig P365 . with a born date of 28 June 2018. Although this was supposedly the third verison with all the fixes it still had severe striker drag on the primers and with the lingering unanswered reliability issues, I flipped it. Purchased the S&W Shield 2.0 9mm with integrated Crimson Trace green laser. This pistol out of the box out shot the P365, better trigger, better ergonomics, fit better in my hand, where the P365 only felt comfortable with the 12 round magazine. With the Magguts +2 kit installed on the flush fit 7 round mag, giving it a 9 round capacity, it sure cancels our the P365, which isn't worth the extra round for carry.
Just for argument sake, by the time an apex trigger & after market sights are installed, the Shield costs as much or more as the 365. Just an observation. Our shields are excellent carry guns. We have no complaints. But this Sig is impressive and has promise.
You are 100% correct! Thankfully the Smith doesn't absolutely have to have the changes, but they are fun. I do agree that the Sig has promise and have really enjoyed testing it. Thank you and cheers!
The stock Shield is just fine. There are people who will spend money on any accessory or any upgrade because they think it will make them shoot better. The joke's on them.
Thanks for an excellent video. I’m currently in the market and haven’t done anything but the feel check on the Shield M2.0. It felt really comfortable. After shooting a G43 and P320 recently, I’m looking closely at the 43X, P365, and Shield 2.0. I like the value of the X-ray sights being factory installed, as well as the trigger being highly serviceable out of the box. I think the Sig is definitely higher on the list for me.
I have an original run Shield in 9 and after nearly 2,000 rounds it has been absolutely flawless. I have been chasing the “perfect” CCW gun for years and no matter what I buy, I keep coming back to the Shield for size, reliability, accuracy and a proven platform. The 365 is overly concerning with the early run issues. I did upgrade the sights to TruGlo FTOs and I added some grip tape just to give it a little extra girth in my hand. That corrected my pulling-to-the-left groupings. I do with it had higher capacity but the trade off is right on par and realistically, I likely won’t need more than 9 to take care of business. If I do, I grab the backup mag I always carry.
I shoot my original Shield better than the Sig, have shoot over 3300 rounds no issues, and best of all I got it for $224 out the door. No reason to change.
After trying out the S&W, Springfield Hellcat, and Sig P365X, I chose the P365 for its small concealable frame, reliability, accuracy, and capacity( mine came with 3, 12-rounds magazines). What's not to like? One drawback, Price! but it is worth it in my opinion.
I Have an MP shield 9mm off duty as per my Dept. The shield is great but never felt 100% in my hand when I grab it, however my wife’s MP shield 45 does. Maybe because it’s a little thicker and a 2.0 model with better grip surface . Just bought and shot my new P365 today. Never has a gun felt this good in my hand! Grip acquisition is immediate with zero adjustment. The trigger is smooth and with 100 rounds fired right out of the box not one malfunction. Recoil feels less than the shield. Really, this pistol is perfect. Holding 11 or 13 rounds you can’t beat the conceal-ability. Two gun store owners I met both carry the P365 and one has 2, the second as his back up. I Have a G19 as my service and as the owner stated to me the 365 shoots like a G19, in other words feels like a “big” gun. I agree. This could be my future EDC or a back up second gun to my MP 45 and perhaps my Beretta Pico 380 as a third emergency weapon. Which, by the way shoots like a little Ferrari. Get the P365 you won’t be sorry. The MP shield 9mm is good but the P365 is next level. I purchased 2 extra 12 round mags. A word of advice: GET SPEED LOADERS. These mags are very hard to load to full capacity. PS: out of the box for the first 50 rounds I experienced 3 dead triggers with the shield. Very scary like a cops bad dream where you’re pointing and trying to shoot pulling the trigger but the gun doesn’t fire...surreal actually. I was like WTF did I do swapping out my G26 for this nightmare. Our Dept range swapped out the recoil spring for me. No “dead” triggers after that. But I don’t think that was the problem. The S&W users manual states you need to “clean” the weapon first. New to me, I’m old school. The job would make you shoot your new gun out of the box with several 100 rounds even in the rain or snow repeatedly before you ever clean it. FYI for new Shield owners. Don’t freak out.
Same. Just bought my p365 last week. Awesome cc gun. Be careful out there. Thank u for your service sir. Im an ex cop myself. I resigned in 2013 right before all the madness against cop movements started. Take care man.
After watching you shoot both, I noticed that the shield had a better recoil than the 365. The 365 seemed to recoil back and wavered side to side a bit. But the shield was straight back mostly. So you seemed to shoot it more confidently with a repeatedly quicker next shot. I think this is to do with the shorter grip mostly. But the shorter barrel does make the issue worse. I saw the xl 365 does better with the longer barrel. But the short grip is both its best and worse feature in my opinion. The grip on the 365 looks like it would be great for me with my small hands. But I think I'd have the same result and would find the shield to be better to shoot. Thank you for the video. As always your comparison was very well done and I really appreciate hearing your opinion. 😎👍
Just purchased a P365 with ambi safety for 439.00 . Added talon grips to cover un-stippled portion of the upper grip. The safety is well designed and easy to use. I pocket carry this gun without any issues. 12 rd. Mag makes gripping easy. Purchased a 15 rd. Mag but it is ugly, awkward and flat but having a 16 rd. Backup mag is priceless!
I had carried the Shield and M&P 9c original for years depending on my attire. The other day I just edited them to the safe. I loved them, but the 365 is smaller than the Shield and holds 10 rounds. I have the 12 round magazine which is a hair bigger than the 7 rounds in the Shield and a hair smaller than the 8 round Shield magazine. One gun covers all my needs now. As fair as reliability I have over 700 flawless rounds with all types of ammo. I have the version after the fix.
That's awesome! Glad to hear more and more success stories with the 365 running well. I agree, the size vs capacity is fantastic. Thank you and cheers!
I have them both! I like them both. Having said that, I agree with you 100% I had two of the Shields when the Sig came out and was on the cover of every Handgun Magazine. I had to have one! I have told my shooting buddies that if I could only have one it would be the Shield and today I saw your well written review. Nice job.
I too use the Shield to back up my 2.0 Compact. At work I carry the M&P40 so I carry a Shield 40 on my vest. Great little guns. I’m sure the SIGs are great, but I’m not going to invest in new holsters, mags and sights at this point.
Love my Sig P365! I bought the Gen ll. 2k rounds not one problem. I'm 6"3 220 but I have a 33 inch waist. So printing is a big problem. I like wearing figure fitting clothes. So the Sig P365 fit's my every day wear. I trust my EDC P365. The P365 replaced my XD 40. I have strong hands the P365 is one of the best weapons I have shot. The trigger and sights are amazing for a out of the box weapon. Go rent one at your local gun shop/range. You won't be disappointed. Got my Sig p365 for $500.
Love these videos! One suggestion.....when you place them side by side on the table you should have the targets shot by them beside each gun so we can compare them by seeing them at the same time!!!
I've had and carried a Shield (1.0) since it was introduced going on a decade soon. It shoots like it's bigger siblings. Price was awesome for what it's offered me. No problems mechanically or cosmetically.
I now have the Sig 365 with 12 rounds. GREAT weapon. Shoots as well as the Shield. I love both weapons. I have now put 500 rounds thru the 365. It is a lot easier to take down than the Shield to clean. No safety on my 365. I might prefer the safety in my pocket. Buy either one and you will be happy. Because of the 12 to 13 rounds--go to the 365. One day I will put an Apex trigger on my Shield 8/31/18
Hey man you may have figured this out but there are kydex guards that you can fit around just the trigger. If you want to pocket carry you can always get one of those and use some cord tied around a belt or belt-loop. It's just an idea, but I wouldn't pocket carry without something with a heavy trigger or a safety.
Good review as these are the two pistols I’m reviewing to pick one fo EDC. I shot the Shield but have yet to shoot the Sig. Thanks again and nice shooting.
First and Foremost, I am older than you so you must do as I say! Please continue Safety checking at the beginning of your video's. It's not for me or any other knowledgeable firearms owner, but for those younger and perhaps new to the shooting world it's good training! I can suck it up. I always safety check and lock the slide or open the cylinder before handing my firearm to another, ALWAY'S it's the proper thing to do! Tough choice I can see why the Shield would be your choice! I'm on the opposite side, smaller hands and body frame so the P 365 wins for me. And yes for me more is better! I kept thinking the Shield ran out of ammo before you really got in to it at the range shoot. Really Good and Honest Review, Thank You for your time and effort here.
I agree about the safety checking and will continue to do it. I totally understand where you are coming from with the small hands and the 365 may make sense for you. Thank you very much for watching and cheers!
Own both. The Shield gets carried more, although I think the 365 is a great little pistol too. The Shield just has that 'go to war' feeling that is hard to quantify or describe. The 365 is almost too small for my hands, and takes a fraction of a second longer to get a purchase on the gun. I still keep it around for deep concealment b/c it has a tendency to print less than the Shield. Bottom line, see what you shoot with better and go with that.
I love .45 acp and even though I had a shield in .45 acp I switched to the p365. The grip is much better for my hand is the main reason plus the shield is so easy to conceal. 1000 rounds through it and no problems.
Carried a Sig 1911 Nightmare Carry for the past 6 years. Wanted to get something smaller just so I'd have options. Really didn't want to move to a smaller caliber with the same capacity as my 1911, so when the p365 came out I jumped on one ASAP.
I got my hunters safety certificate when I was nine. My Uncle, Jim Brisbois, held classes in a church basement in San Mateo. I am now 53 & have shot only long guns my whole life and thought about hand guns being toys. I finally bought one after a friend of mine roused me " You don't even own one!" So I bought one, then another... I simply luv my P 226 and it's scorpion brother and discovered that I could actually hit the broadside of a barn with these silly little things. RE; Very little guns, I'm a huge Sig fan but I live in California and can't buy the Sig I want unless I want to bother a LE friend which I wont. That being said the shield is legal here and maybe a good fit. Thank you for the review! PS After I practiced a bit, never before owning one of these silly little things prior to last year, I discovered that I could shoot better as a lefty. I knew I was left eye dominant and would put pieces of tape on my shooting glasses to help my skeet scores. So I joined a local steel target shooting club as a right handed shooter and now shoot mostly as a lefty. After a year of practice I shot with my two friends who own maybe 10 hand guns each for the past 15 years and it was embarrassing. The only thing I reminded them was what I said before I ever got proficient with one of these little things. If you need to get something done in a hurry, use a shotgun...
I want to apologise for abusing the term "silly little things" I do understand that these are exceptional tools and that the people who become experts at them are professionals. My personal experience has been with people who are only talkers... That being said I simply luv shooting/hunting and know it is a completely wholesome sport & hobbie...
Love the review, I went with the Sig. I’ve got small hands, so it couldn’t be any better in my book. Quit apologizing to the trolls and fan boys who won’t listen to logic. Ignore them and they go away.
I’ve had both. I was so excited waiting for the Sig P365. I got it the first day it hit the store. Couldn’t wait to shoot it. Took it to the range and fired it. 100 rounds, and decided that I hated it. The way it felt in my hand, the trigger, and I was not at all accurate with it. I sold it for more than I paid, and got the Shield 2.0. So much better, in every way. I don’t know why anyone would want to change the trigger. In my opinion it’s perfect. That gun fits my hand great, it’s accurate as heck. I’ve never had a Glock 43, but I’m not a big Glock fan. I’ve had so many different ones, and sold all but a Gen 3 Glock 19. With that said, I’ve since acquired a S&W M&P 9 2.0 , and 2 M&P 9C 2.0s. For me, the S&W line is the best striker fired polymer handguns available. Not to knock Glock, I think they’re ok, but not the gold standard that many would have you believe. As far as the Sig... you can keep it. I did not like it at all. I also had a Sig P320, which I also hated. I liked the metal trigger, but nothing else. The high bore axis and front heavy feel. I guess I’m not a Sig guy. The best thing I’ve found about Sigs - they sell quickly, and you can make a few extra bucks too!
I like seeing the safety checks for empty firearms before handling. I'm always reminding myself to be safe when I handle mine. It's also good to show to people who are fairly new to handling firearms. Complacency is dangerous. For those who get "triggered" seeing safety checks in videos, just close your eyes when its done and you'll be fine (maybe).
I have the shield in 40 cal and love it but I’m thinking of going to the 365 for everyday carry. Thanks for the info. Now I’m going to have to think on it a little more.
Sold the 365. The grip is just too small. It’s like holding the box toothpaste comes in under a gun. It made me shoot my other handguns poorly because of the adjustment made for gripping it. M&P for sure, and it shoots softer for that second or third follow up round.
So you have Soft hands and can’t handle 9mm recoil, it’s obvious you don’t own a shotgun.
@@stiftarcory4364 -- You are over-thinking Robert's comment. The small grip doesn't allow you to get a good purchase with both hands on the gun like you could with a larger grip. The 365 is snappier to shoot because of that.
These days there's the Shield Plus...
@@stiftarcory4364 L comment Lmao… 😂
As a armed professional that carries both on the job and in my personal life. The Smith & Wesson Shield is the epitome of what others are trying to achieve. Thus far I think the Sig 365 is about as close as anyone has come to the shield. My agency has the shield on the approved list and that's what I carry. The Sig 365 has been tested by my agency and is not currently on the approved list. Not to be long-winded but I agree with your assessment of these two platforms. I to give the nod to the Smith & Wesson Shield because I trust my life with it and the life of my clients with it.
I agree! Thank you and cheers!
So now that's been almost a year since your comment is the 365 on the approved list yet?
Its November of 2019. Sig 365 is still NOT approved agencies. I am told.😂
Spring rides on the mag and eventually breaks with the sig. Reliability before capacity or better sights
Sig 365XL FTW. It is the Goldilocks.
Your reviews are so interesting, helpful, honest and you do them to your best ability, they are not something you just throw out there. Again I thank you and you have become one of my favorite reviewers ...
Thank you very much Ray! That means a ton brother! I love all guns and try not to be biased when possible. Cheers!
Only a matter of time before they make some type of a Shield 3.0 that has a staggered double stack magazine (like the Hellcat/365) and is the same size
I'm in the market for my first carry piece but I just can't get behind the P365 100%. I may just go with a bodyguard for now and hope for that 3.0!!
@@JV-tk9yn I wouldn't get a bodyguard. Go shield or m2.0 compact.
Running Bear same here man hopefully they make something soon! I could see them releasing it this Holiday season
Running Bear so true lol. Sounds just like my Shield I added night sights and the apex trigger/spring kit
Well said! It’s great that we have so many options. Thank you and cheers!
The Smith and Wesson will save your life better than cigs...
I love these "versus" video, they are so informative, and withstood time very well.
Chheers!
But you have to factor sending the sig back to get fixed and the shipping
I address that in the video
@dig duck not so much in this case from reviews though....365 shoots extremely well by most accounts
@@chtomlin *dig duck* has a point which agrees with physics. The SIG P365 slide & handle design may make it a little easier
to shoot compared with other *sub-compacts.* But a heavier &/or larger gun is easier to "extremely" easier shoot due to
the laws of physics.
I agree about the magazines.
I have the 365XL on reserve, but am strongly considering switching to the M&P. It's about $150 cheaper and I don't think the difference is that great. Its an EDC not a range toy.
Very helpful. Im shopping and these two were my finalists. Thank you for a great comparison and unbiased viewpoint.
How did you put on a Olight with no rail on the shield?
@@drewblack7142 the 2.0 version has a pic rail.
@@KamikazKid Ty
yeah sig has that proprietary rail i dont like so much. i want to get a custom grip module for my p365xl . i dont need the mag extensions 12 is enough for me and its crazy concealable. also thinking about the sig romeozero rds.
Both guns are great. I've shot both. Own the p265 and many more. Important thing is you own a gun at all and are ready to protect yourself and family.
Good for you for being proactive & arming yourself. We need more good people like you armed and able to protect yourself & others.
Thank you very much! The 365 is a great gun for sure. Keep me posted on how it runs long term. I love hearing updates from everybody. Cheers!
Right on! Thank you and cheers!
The P365 totally destroyed my "carry rotation". I don't carry anything else now. It is perfect.
I love my Shield. Try some Talon grips and it takes it to a new level. I put some Trijicon HD night sights on mine and an Apex spring kit modification and I feel that I have the ultimate carry piece.
Just got a 365 with manual safety, love the crisp feel, reminds me of a 1911, nice!
oddly, SIg does not even list the thumb safety model variants on it's website...
I would go smith for a few reasons. Price, sig recalls, and made in 🇺🇸
I agree! Thank you and cheers!
Sig made in USA too
Sig is better ...facts
@@bonnypalmztv5845
Nope... that's your opinion.
How are you liking shooting them both? I'm deciding now.
Curry In A Hurry Automotive Mobile Mechanic in my opinion the 365 shoots better and feels a little bit better on my hand. I have small hands, it has less recoil
Fast forward to December 2020. Now go find some 9mm ammo.
You can find some, it just takes a while to look around and more expensive. If you had some rounds in reserve before hand, more power to you.
@@jlinka79 Where?
@@McBeakerson Now that's a trip! I can't find any 9mm. But I can get .357 and .38 defensive rounds of which I have plenty! As well as 00 buckshot.
Is it still hard to get ammo? I’m debating a 365 and glock 19/43/42. Hard to find new guns here in retail stores.
It's in safe top shelf on the left there's about 2000 of target ammo left😜
A really good, unbiased review on these two popular guns.
Great thoughts! Thank you for sharing and cheers!
Thanks for the comparison and the comments. You've helped me make up my mind
on the purchase. Provided I can find one I'm going w/the sig. really enjoyed it
That's awesome Ken! Thank you and cheers!
Very good point! Thank you and cheers!
What rounds do you use in your shield 45 for carry?
@@chrisd933 if it's still any indention, I carry 165 grain HST in mine
Lani Wade thanks, I bet that’s a good round for it, lately I’ve been carrying a Glock 19
Thank you very much! I agree, the issues seem overwhelming. Hopefully Sig can get things back on track. Cheers!
Love my Shield! Add to that a lifetime warranty and a better customer service experience and you've got a winner!
Elias I agree sig is too small for my hands. I also have the performance 2.0 9mm and love it.
I just got an LCP 2 for my first carry gun but when S&W comes out with their own "micro compact" 10 or 11 round Shield I'm buying day one.
Hey that's a great idea.i thought of buying either a p365 or a hellcat.but I like s&w so much.im gonna wait now.u got a point
Shield plus is out now
New shooter only 6 months into this. But for Christmas I asked for another gun. Husband and I went black Friday shopping
After comparing signs 365, walther pps and sheild 2.0. I chose the sheild. No raking problem for this girl. Love everything about the sheild. Even got integrated laser with for 370 dollars.
That’s awesome and a great price as well! Thank you and cheers!
@@Altekameraden79 I ended going w a p365 but I do like shields. If they did right side safety I'd have got the +
@@tomsmith2215 higher sales for cheaper guns
@@carbonfibercrypto2919 I like shields ended up getting a p365 tho
I own them both and love them both. Guns are a funny thing, like many of your followers have mentioned. There is no one size fits all with a firearm. I will never get rid of my shield 9mm, but I'm hoping my 365 will become my edc. I only have 150 rounds through my 365, as I just bought it a week ago. Nov 2018 born on date. There were no failures of any kind for first 150. I hope they really did work out the bugs, I am routing for the 365 to be a reliable gun.
Very well said and I agree! Hopefully your 365 will be flawless. Most are these days. Thank you and cheers!
That 365 is tiny nice sights. I saw your comparison with 43. I thank I'd go with the 365. Just for situations when I can't carry my G19. Good video well done.
Thank you very much Uncle Dan! The 365 has been a real pleasure so far. Cheers!
KSGunGuy 👍
Agreed! I have 800 rds through my sig. Zero problems. The gun is a beast. Its my 24/7 "365" 😂
James Perry yeah it's a great option. I subbed you.
The sights on the sig are one of my favorite features on this gun.
Absolutely agree about having steel sights! Mandatory in my opinion as well brother. Great video. 👍🏽
Absolutely Joshua! Thank you and cheers!
This was literally me 2 months ago as I was buying my first pistol but I grew up like smith and wesson i have their knives and the s&w m&p 15 but the sig was just too good
I’m commenting while watching the video. My grandpa hit a target 75 yards away with my P365. SIG has the perfect angle on the grip.
Great unbiased review. I'm with you on the outcome.
Thank you very much! Team Shield for sure. Cheers!
But, I am concerned about the wear…
have the shield, want the 365
Me Exactly.
I have both the Shield MP 2.0 9mm and the Sig P365 XL and I love both of them. Great review and video. Good shooting and great reviews!!!
I love my shield. Fires when I need it too and was super cheap so I don’t care if I thrash it around
Well said! Thank you and cheers!
I'm glad the Shield fit the bill for you! They are great guns indeed. Thank you and cheers!
Right on! All good guns for sure. Thank you and cheers!
We need to RE-DO this with the 9 Shield Plus
Was just thinking the exact same thing
Apologies. TruGlo TFO sights.
That’s awesome! I agree, the Shield really is in the sweet spot between small yet shootable. Those TFO sights are very nice. Thank you and cheers!
Just got mine as well, very happy with it
Really thoughtful and detailed analysis. Thank you for the video.
Thank you very much Jon! Cheers brother!
I've got a PICO as an occasional backup. When it was on sale and had a rebate, I picked up a second one.
2years ago . Wow time goes by quick the older we get Sig 365 2 years already....
Right on! Thank you and cheers!
Nice job.
I have neither pistol. But, Inappreciate the objective appraisal. Makes me think. I do have the Sig 938. Happy with it.
I have the shield 9mm 2.0 as my everyday carry. Thanks for the video.
Love my Shield 2.0 ,and her big brother, the Compact 2.0!
Smith is really taking off the gloves this time around, excellent videos. 👍
Well said! I do agree with that 100%. Thank you and cheers!
kmsharley75 that's the combo i rock 2.0c and 2.0 shield in rotation for carry.
That’s awesome! Im glad you like it Mace. Thank you and cheers!
I have the Shield 2.0 Performance Center.....Absolutely
Love it
It's there anything different about it other than the ported slide and sights?
Love these videos! One suggestion.....when you place them side by side on the table you should have the targets shot by them beside each gun so we can compare them by seeing them at the same time!!!
Thank you very much for the suggestion! Cheers!
I have not experienced the M&P, but I love my Sig 365!! .. totally awesome gun.
Thank you Tony! I think either one will serve you well. Cheers brother!
That's awesome Lukas! It's a great gun for sure, as is the Nightmare. Thank you and cheers!
>> KSGG
That’s awesome Bama! All three are good guns for sure. Glad to have so many choices! Thank you and cheers!
I got my hunters safety certificate when I was nine. My Uncle, Jim Brisbois, held classes in a church basement in San Mateo. I am now 53 & have shot only long guns my whole life and thought about hand guns being toys. I finally bought one after a friend of mine roused me " You don't even own one!"
So I bought one, then another...
I want to apologise for abusing the term "silly little things"
I do understand that these are exceptional tools and that the people who become experts at them are professionals.
Let me introduce you to my PPQ better in every conceivable way to the shield.
Very good and fair comparison. Excellent video
Thank you very much! Cheers!
P365 = 365 days until it's in stock
Hopefully not! Thank you and cheers!
Or until its working right
got mine yesterday finally, works good so far!
Cabela's has them, but you gotta have one near you and you gotta wait for them to ship to the store. They say about 2 weeks, beats 365 days.
Dinglebearry sadly we don't have cabelas in Florida lol
I have the shield in 40 cal and love it but I’m thinking of going to the 365 for everyday carry. Thanks for the info. Now I’m going to have to think on it a little more.
