    Discussion on doll collecting, which doll brands trump the others and if I could start over with my collection, what kinds of dolls would I buy ? I often think about the doll hobby and what I like, what I wish I could do more of how much time and money it all takes. I’ve spend ALOT of money on dolls in pretty short amount of time without knowing a lot about the hobby in itself or having a clear goal within it. Which I think, it’s fine! I think it’s great to jump into a hobby and I followed my heart and love my collection. I do want to study more doll street photography and explore posing my dolls to a wider variety of poses. Refine my collection to my absolute favorites after playing with all my dolls to my hearts content. As much as I love displaying my dolls, there’s a handful of dolls I would love to take out of their stock outfits. But it’s SUCH a big decision to make. Once a doll is restyled, it’s like she’s left the world of pristine stock display-ability - but I’m confident in putting her back in her original stock too. It’s also so difficult deciding on which Pullip Dolls are my absolute favorites as they all mean so much to me. How about you? Have you gone through many doll purges? What does your collection look like and why? Which doll brands do you think rank highest?

    SmartDoll are always looking to improve their dolls and are currently working on a plus sized version as the pear body planned to release this year yet or early next year for sure. Also so things that had complaints about the body have been resolved with the evolve frame which are the default for all classic models and will continue for the pear body. Boys are also on the ticket for after the pears are launched. Hopefully those won’t take too long once Danny Choo works on them.

      I really do like the engagement smart doll has with their customer - as a business, I think they have strong principles !! And I would looove a pear Smartie and a boy Smartie too !

    I couldn't agree more. When I first started super hardcore doll collecting, when I had a little money, I wanted a doll just like smart doll, but I had no idea what kind of doll I wanted and anyway at all of how to order it. Right now I've only got about 12 smart dolls and one pullip, but I would like to get more Pullips.

      12 Smart Dolls must be so so fun !! And quite the feat. When I see any collection of Dollfie Dream or Smart Doll, i am in looooove - they definitely pose better than Pullip but Pullip is really fun for its packaging and attire… and overall style !! With the price point … I think that’s why I gravitated towards Pullip. I really like the new pear shaped smart doll too. I was thinking I would maybe sell one of my smarties le Dollfies to afford her but I think she will sell out fast !!!

    I have quite a crew of Smart Dolls, which I did not expect to have before I got my first. I started with just one Dollfie and then went the Smart Dolls route. They definitely are a terrific value for the money. I love my dollfie, but even second hand, she cost twice as much. Smart Dolls are beautiful, and I appreciate the variety of skin tone, and now body types. Similar to you though, if I could start over with what I knew now- my collection would be more focused. And I would have waited for something like the ADYKA and/or the Pear body smart dolls. But I love my dolls and am attached to them, so will not trade them for those. I also have smaller 1/6 scale Azone dolls that I love as much.

    • @dollvee
      @dollvee  3 месяца назад

      The attachment is real !! Smart dolls are great value and azone dolls are really posable too! I think it’s important to just wait to see if we can detach instead of forcing ourselves too. Sometimes life takes you in a different direction and now I feel I really only need one certain dolls in my collection and certain dolls can move forward to a new mom. I love the new pear body’s too! If they are still around in about 5 years and I still want one- I’m definitely going for it !!

    If I had to change the way I collect dolls I wouldn’t have bought every pullip released in 2020 and 2021. I kinda bought them all on impulse and while I love the majority of them there are maybe 6 that I don’t completely love and definitely could’ve saved my money and used it on manga or other dolls. Also wish I knew that the 2000’s Bratz would be worth a lot now because I gave away my collection years ago and trying to find old school Bratz (not the reboots), especially ones I want that are in box are so expensive now.

    • @dollvee
      @dollvee  9 месяцев назад +2

      That impulse is real! I feel absolutely guilty of that… manga is also so easy to spend money on too but I’ve got to read all the volumes before I buy anymore !!

    Hello. I've always had dozens of Barbie dolls. However thanks to you and your channel I now have 12 pullip dolls. And now I just purchased my first Smart Doll from Danny Choo, "Fortitude" semi-real (Tea). I told Danny that you and your channel was my inspiration for purchasing. I hope that was ok? Just love this doll! I purchased on a Tuesday and received her on Friday. Unbelievable! Anyway thanks for all you do. You make a difference!

      Wow you really made my day !!! I am hoping to see if I could interview him for my channel one day - and meet him in Japan. I think he is just brilliant and so well versed. His wit is inimitable!!! And smart dolls truly are so so smart to play with. Congratulations on your Fortitude !! I love Barbie always … since I’ll be capping my spending on Dolls or at least having one out one in, I intend on doing some Barbie animations soon like Barbie Boi- have you seen that TikTok account ?? So so cute !!! really appreciate your positive energy and so motivating! I suffer some mental illness most days and comments like these are really therapeutic. Like our own little community and world of dolls at the palm of our hands. Fortitude is so cute. She seems like a girl who can get anything she wants hehehe also really looking forward to all the collector content that will come out eventually on the pear shaped dolls! Enjoy your dolls this week! Will be thinking of you Gary !!!

    I think for play or intro into the idea of collecting Rainbow High or Monster High are great. They're a good intro for younger kids too. I just got my first Azone, and I think they're good in the mid zone between a playline doll vs. stepping up to a Dollfie and Smart doll or BDJ. I chose a Dollfie over Smart Doll because of the body shape, but Smart Dolls have really beautiful faces to me.

    • @dollvee

      Such a hard choice between those two !! I love DD and Smartie !! I’ve yet to buy any monster high brand new - but I’ve definitely enjoyed playing with RHD- great starter lines !

    I love my Pullips, although I have a small collection of them. I have one MIO kit waiting for me too!! Smart Doll is DEFINITELY on my list!! I just need to know where I would display one.
    I do love SH/RH, but I’m slowing down on buying them, I went a little nuts at first. 😅
    Thanks so much for the great video!

      After some time, I really feel that less can be more!! every day. I look at my collection and I am really debating on who I love the most and I feel bad about the ones that don’t get handled or played with!! I really love dynamic doll photography when dolls are being posed. I really struggle with managing my collection so I put a halt to my doll spending! I absolutely love SHRG as as well!! I went through a crazy bender and then I ended up selling a majority of them, and just keeping her outfits for Pullip Dolls!! when you start getting into the 13 scale, they definitely take up room!! they look so cute close to the smaller Dolls though!!!

    I have a large Figma collection and just started collecting dolls but I don't really know where to start. I have four 1/12 and four 1/6 dolls from AZONE (pureneemo). I find that AZONE is very expensive, at least 180-300 dollars for a doll you can't change hair with and is usually only that expensive because it's targeted at an anime audience looking for that character. I'm looking for maximum customizability at a 1/6 scale now. Would a Dollce head work with an Obitsu body? Is Dollce Dolfie Dream? I'm starting to think now it would be a lot cheaper to just 'make' my own dolls instead of buying them premade.

    • @dollvee
      @dollvee  9 месяцев назад +1

      I’m not too sure about dollce- but I have seen those azone prices and yes … they are high !!! I didn’t know then what I know now… if you’re looking to do faceup it’s definitely the most cost effective but it can just take a lot of time. Sometimes it would stress me out because I wasn’t getting the result that I wanted but it also was motivation to become better at the medium of art style !! the very top of the obitsu Body I know has been modified to work with certain Dolls. I think that anybody can be modified with sanding or epoxy clay.
      I’ve been pretty curious about those figmas! I have a Nezuko pure Neemo and I do love how little she is. Have you thought of Pullip or are you not into big headed dolls ? I’ve seen thrifted dolls be turned anime as well!

    • @your-new-stepmom
      @your-new-stepmom 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@dollvee I usually wait 2-4 months as I order something usually every month - I'm just bad with money. I wouldn't actually mind waiting for a faceup but I'd be concerned about pricing of shipping that item and the integrity of the artist. I know there's a few on Etsy but they all seem to come from South Asia. On the note of Azone Pure Neemos I just received Rem and Ram (not the winter version) and their eyes are adjustable unlike most of the same brand that are painted on which was amazing. Not all are created equal. That being said if you're interested in Figma I'd stay away from modern builds. They're too expensive for what they're worth. You can find used Figma on AMIAMI from a decade ago in mint condition for a fraction of the price with better quality and more sub-items. I'm not a fan of big headed dolls, they scare me.
      I feel like I'm spending 500 dollars+ a month when I could be customizing my own dolls for a fraction of that price. But I'm really lazy and I'm sure a manufacturer could do a better job than me lmao

    • @dollvee
      @dollvee  9 месяцев назад

      Awe !!! It’s a process face ups like it’s stressful! Thanks for the tips on the figma - rem and ram are so cute - I really do love anime figures !! Big headed do have a creepy look hehe

    Great to hear your thoughts. My doll fam is 17 Pullip/Dal, 13 Dollfie Dream DD/DDS/DPP/MDD and 5 Super Dollfie SDGr/SD13/SD10/SDC/SDM. No regrets so far, but I see the appeal of Smart Dolls. For my DDs I have a wrist joint for every set of hands to make it easy to switch. I disagree Pullips are easy to play with, their big heads mean they fall over too easily, they can't really stand independently, they barely manage to sit.

      Also, my doll family is basically at capacity. I have a few wtb grails but then I'm done. I've started to focus on outfits, props and furniture.

      @dollvee  9 месяцев назад +1

      Oh my goodness !!! 13 Dollfie Dream wowieeeeeee - that is so smart with the wrist joints !! I thought I replied to this already but I seem to have lost my comment. I totally feel I am at capacity too. I suppose you are right about Pullip in that facet !! I guess I was comparing them more so to play line dolls from the stores like RHD, Barbie with customization but possibility in comparison to other anime dolls - it’s not the greatest.

    I think for me, I wouldn't have went so hard with RH/SH dolls. I have over 100+ of them and majority are all still in box. I never really had the passion to open them and play with them, I just love their fashion but not the dolls iteself. I am working on finding them new homes though, and have really fallen hard for Pullip dolls.

    • @dollvee

      There is definitely a period in time where I was going to Walmart and chapters and Toys “R” Us and debating different rainbow high dolls!!! I do think that they pose better than pullip in some ways, and that they’re just more resilient! The Fashion Piece is definitely the reason!! I love how the clothes are so resilient as well and a lot of them Fit pullip !! I ended up repainting a majority of my RHD or selling them, and keeping the outfits!! it’s so easy to fall for Pullip ! I think no matter what they will always be my favourite doll packaging!!!
