Just wanted to thank you! I love your videos. After years of watching and decluttering, it really paid off. After over 100 years of no flooding in my area, my home flooded during Hurricane Helene and then was hit again with Hurricane Milton. I live on the gulf coast of Florida. Having less stuff means less to pack up and prepare before a storm and less to throw out afterwards. I am beyond thankful for your encouragement over the years. 🤗 What you do changes people’s lives! ❤
I find that after several years of decluttering, my decluttering muscles have gotten stronger. I now easily declutter things that would have been difficult before.
Suggestion - since you are in an earthquake zone, what about installing guard bars, in front of your pantry shelves, and your canning shelving units? This could prevent your canning jars, and pantry jars from falling to the ground and smashing, in the event of a bigger earthquake.
My small suggestion on photo albums is to write all the names of everyone in the photos somewhere in the album. Your children may not recognize all the people if they inherit the albums later in life. (same for what year or age they created their cute artwork).
Emergency supplies...yep, know all about those. We just went through Hurricane Milton and our emergency supplies helped us a lot. Now I need to restock.
I would love a whole video on your emergency prep. I feel like you touch on it often but I can’t remember a dedicated video. It’s been on my mind a lot recently with all the flooding and hurricanes. We had a tornado watch this summer in upstate New York and I realized how unprepared we are. I started a pet emergency kit and I love seeing what others have set up for their pets and kids (especially special needs pets).
Very jealous of that pantry! I use mason & other glass jars, too. I decant mostly to keep critters out of our food. We live in the Sequoia National Forest and occasional ants, mice, etc are a fact of life. But thanks to glass storage not today, you critters. Not today!
I cleaned out and reorganized my attic yesterday. Didn't have too much to declutter. We have housewares for my college age Son who's set to graduate in December up there. However I plan to reduce the Christmas decorations this holiday season. I want to reduce to the point of just having it all in a large closet(after our home remodel in the future) and not utilizing the attic at all.
That is my goal too! But... my goal is to do it BEFORE the season, not like I say I'll do every year "at the end of the year." My oldest son moved out with his girlfriend and they could really use some starter Christmas decore so this is a great change to downsize my items too.
@alifebydesign2024 Yes, I've already sorted my three kids' personal ornaments into boxes for each of them. Last year, there were certain larger Christmas decor things my kids mentioned wanting. I already gave a bunch to my eldest two years ago. Since my other two aren't on their own yet, I do have to store items. However, I can keep them separate in their keepsake totes.
I decluttered majorly in 2015 and created POINT OF USE for our home which meant I put all items that would be used in each room in that space as their permanent homes. What remained went into our smallest bedroom (100 square feet) for storage and when I was finished; I started on the items that were in the storage room. I decluttered and organized by type and placed them on shelves in bins with labels. We have grilling items/painting items/car care items/lawn care items/tech items and cords/batteries and light bulbs/emergency weather items/ inside ladder and step stool/christmas tree and three bins of holiday decor/a power washer and shop vac/tool boxes/ and we have 4 floating shelves for small bins of tools that my husband might need. We have 4 folding chairs for hosting holidays and 2 zero gravity chairs stored in winter from our deck. That was it and I closed the door. It stays organized so I do not have to do a lot except a regular dust and vacuum in the room each month. We don't have an attic garage or basement so this is the one space I really have for storage items. Thanks!
My husband and son both say the same thing about not having snack foods. Lol. We had a couple of large containers of protein shake powder that no one was using so I started making homemade protein bombs for the fridge. Now they have those instead of complaining. I found that having a couple of easy snack recipes helps. I printed them out and laminated them so if anyone is prowling for snacks they can whip up something real quick.
I love how I notice items In the background like that one time your Depeche Mode hoodie from the concert and now you emptying your kids bin with art work resonates with me, my boys are 14 and 19 now and I’ve kept a few art work and I totally understand. What I noticed too stickers of railroad tracks from Thomas the train you removed from the bin. Like I totally still have those exact ones and extras… need to let go of them so sad. But with my 14 year old he is a Railfanner and is an artist drawing trains. And why I hang on to the Thomas the train stickers? The memories 😢
No storage unit for me . I now live in an apartment and no storage or beautiful pantry like yours. Looks great! Great advice reminder! I scrapbook for me but kids do enjoy the memories.
I go through storage Spring and Fall, catches me up on the seasonal stuff. And it's also a good time to figure out what hasn't been used in a while and that I can donate to a thrift store. If I'm not using it, it's in the way.
I noticed you had canning jars, so I'm going to assume you do canning. I learned this from my sister - if you have extra space in your canner, fill the space with jars filled with water and proceed to do the water bath canning. At the end, you have a jar or two of canned water to add to your long term storage rather than buying plastic bottled water.
Bottled water is super cheap! Replace the old water, for crying out loud. Water your plants with it, clean with it, whatever, but get new water for your emergency stash!

Wow, that’s amazing! I am so sorry about the hurricanes, but happy to hear your decluttering helped so much! ❤️🙏🏼👌🏼

This is so true! Things I thought I’d never get rid of a few years ago are suddenly easy to give away.

That is a great idea, I will put that on my list! ❤️👍🏼

I definitely want to do this well before Christmas. I don't care to put out much anymore, except my big tree.

2:52 I had to get spiral perms in high school to achieve the beautiful look that you had naturally.
This morning we rearranged both chest freezers. Founds lots of gaps in chicken & beef.
That's a huge task, good for you! 🙏🏼❤️

The memories 😢
🧡 your BOO picture in the bathroom 👻 🎃 Using glass jars is nice because you can see how much you have.
I would water your plants inside or outside then buy fresh water for emergencies.

Love the vegetables bag in the pantry!! 🤣🤣 also the slytherin hoody (fellow slytherin here) 😊 xx
I love this and am inspired!😊
Bottled water is super cheap! Replace the old water, for crying out loud. Water your plants with it, clean with it, whatever, but get new water for your emergency stash!
Drink that water and replace it with new emergency water. If it tastes funny, give it to a worthy, thirsty plant.
Mark as old water. Can be used to flush toilets or wash dishes if water goes out. Get new water.
@@robinr5337 Good plan!
Why don’t you have shelving in your storage area? Would make sense than piling it all over the floor. Make use of the vertical space
Here kitty kitty😂
❤️😊
lots os photos not in albums also
🧡🙏🏼
Did you ever think if you stop participating in observing pegan holidays, You'd clean up a lot of clutter? 😊
How nice... a snide remark with a smile. Did you ever think having a playlist titled "Halloween" was a little hypocritical of you?
Water your indoor plants w/ the "expired" water!? 💦🪴
