Maybe running is different, but in swimming most relatively new athletes trying to just “go fast” cause lots of splash without much acceleration 😅 Totally agree with your “overcoaching” term though, but mainly for higher level swimmers who already know how to move fast, not vice versa.

Don’t get me wrong, I think mechanics are important. However, the demands of running form within sport is extremely personal to the individual
